  • In this video, we're talking about TikTok and why it's not allowed to age gracefully. We'll be discussing the app's new 'year-old' filter and how it's changing the way we see age on the app. TikTok is a fun app, but it's not allowed to age gracefully. Recently, the app added a new 'year-old' filter that removes all wrinkles and signs of aging. This has caused a lot of controversy on social media, with many users calling the filter ageist.

No matter what you do with the face, the neck & hands are going to give away your age faster than anything. As for social media, if you 'live on social media' & the opinions of people you will probably never meet is so important you that you're driving yourself crazy worrying about 'how you look', then honey, you're all worrying about all the wrong stuff.

That's just silly. I looked like a young girl until I was maybe 43. The only "secret" is watch weight, avoid sun, smoking and alcohol and sleep well. Why would I ruin that baby look I still had back then with some injections? Now at 50 I can see signs of aging but still trying with serums, creams, face massages and keeping weight with exercise, avoid sun, smoking (even second hand) and trying to be happy with what I have.

I got carded for decades…I say choose your parents wisely…my parents are ninety, and don’t look it, just like all of their children look younger for their age. There are 6 of us and some are fat, some are slim…all look youthful…just dumb luck. Btw, only my youngest sister drinks wine, and the rest don’t drink or smoke…my younger sister looks the oldest of all of us…so don’t drink or smoke. But the. Again, my mom smoked for 40 years…quit at 60…still has smooth skin…go figure.

@@Katrn30 genes play a big role. My mom went grey very young, my sister and I as well. My mom has dry skin and that contributes to wrinkles, I seem to have that gene too, my mom is thin so less "baby fat" to fill in the wrinkles, I got that gene as well 🙄🙄🙄. I was at the dermatologist this morning and she just said, remember to use sunblock, moisturizer and lots of water. Ageing is natural and normal,as long as you are healthy that is the main goal.

I'm 50 and definitely seeing the signs of aging. Some I'm sure could be altered with plastic surgery, and others I'm just going to embrace. Just have to remind ourselves to be comfortable with who we are. Most of the time we are our own harshest critics. We worry too much about what "WE THINK" others might be thinking about us. Truth is, most of the time, no one's paying attention to whatever we think our flaws are. They're worrying about their own stuff.

Grandma at the end! She rocks! I always looked years younger than my age until my mid-50s; no botox or fillers, just decent sleep and good skincare and lots of water. I have a few wrinkles these days, particularly since I lost weight. As a young woman in my 20s or 30s I certainly wasn't obsessed with not aging as a lot of these girls are now. It's the pressure of social media - and the availability of filters - to stay forever young.

Some people are getting "preventative Botox" injections! I guess if you get it early it helps you not develop deep wrinkles (like in between the brows). A great anti-aging tip is to wear sunscreen! Wear it every day, especially on your face, neck, & hands. Our neck & hands really show age a lot, so you can use your face creams on your neck & hands too. Make sure you keep your skin moisturized and drink plenty of water, so it looks plump. Refraining from smoking helps you to not age so quickly as well.
Another tip is to not wear too much makeup, as it can date you or make you look older by settling into your lines & wrinkles. I moisturize, let it sink in, then apply a tinted moisturizer with SPF. I love an undereye cream that refracts light, like Ole Henrickson Banana Bright+ Eye Cream. My favorite tinted moisturizer is Dr. Jart+ BB Premium Beauty Balm (has 40 SPF). I also like Bite Beauty Changemaker Supercharged Micellar Foundation, which has no SPF, but some don't like the smell. I don't use powder anymore because it settles in my lines. I use a cream blush, highlighter & sometimes a contour. I also use a brow tint to fill in the brows for a more youthful appearance; my fave is Milk Makeup Kush Fiber Brow. I finish the look with a tinted lip balm & a setting spray to set the makeup. I'm in my late 30's but always hear that I look much younger!

The worst things for aging badly, is anything that destroys collagen. Sugar, smoking, sun are the worst. I looked a decade younger up until 50, then menopause really accelerated some aging signs, loss of fat in my face, under eyes, breast tissue softened and spread out flatter. From the front I look really busty as they are wider, but from the side they are flatter and don’t stand forward anymore. Weight gain almost overnight, and it took a while to find out that low carb and doing HIIT and weights exercise to tone muscle loss is best for older women.

I take very good care of my skin, I’m 74, and people often tell me they thought I was was 54. I’ve had no work done. Just healthy living and good genes. OMG!!! It is s dreadfully sad in this era of botox and fillers that these products are being used by young girls (as soon as they turn legal)!!! They are so consumed with perfectionism and aging they will never ever be satisfied with their faces again through the years. When these injectables start to get absorbed they will start to not look like themselves to themselves in the mirror as they are so used to their altered faces. I am not referring to this woman with the tapes...but it just shows you the mindset in Social Media! I saw the first line in my forehead at 16 because I spoke possibly too expressively, raising my thick eyebrows! That line is still there! I am so grateful I did not grow up in a time of this nonsense...and obsess in my teens with needing to lift the corners of my eyes or lift my brows (as in Browlifts) Back in the day young women tweezed under the arch of the brow to give a little lift, if they thought their brows were too low or straight across. Young gals are naturally beautiful, but they no longer recognize this in themselves! Funny I was absolutely tormented for my full lips all through my growing up years and my thick brows. Now all these young girls on social media are "doing their lips" and tattooing their brows, lifting their eye corners! I think they are being lead around by all these celeb sisters (not naming names) who have altered every single feature, sometimes multiple times! And now "skinny is back"? What is going to happen when these young women start to age in reality... and not just in their heads...when all these doctors or aestheticians are feeding into their insecurities now at this age, every couple of months? Remember when the only procedure young girls (teens) ever considered was having their noses done? Back then ethical doctors had them wait.

I have always had a good skincare routine, and being very pale I had to wear sunscreen which has helped me. Why are people getting botox in their late 20s and 30s when they have no wrinkles? It's ridiculous and the botox industry should be regulated better. I think I may have to subscribe to Grandma she's great! I hate the filters people use, it doesn't fool anyone because we can all pick out the heavily edited pictures. It's making young people think there is something wrong with them if they have any texture on their skin! Where as those of us who are older and didn't grow up with all these filters know that everybody has texture and pores etc.. on their skin.

People DO have deep wrinkles in their 20s and 30s. The world has become a very stressful place. If you don't see the wrinkles, it's because of the Botox.

@@toebeanteam6259 deep wrinkles in their 20s? Nope I don't believe that, unless they have some genetic condition causing it, which would be very rare. I see some people around my age whose wrinkles started a bit before mine, but not until their late 30s at the earliest. Yes the world is stressful we all know that and I've gone through way more stress than most people I know so why do I not have deep wrinkles? In fact mine should be the worst of everyone I know if we're going by stress. Stress though actually has a bigger impact on your insides in terms of ageing. I don't personally know anyone who has had botox. If I had money to spare I would consider getting my frown line done but no more than that. Deep wrinkles don't arrive until your 50s/60s, even then some people still have great skin and some people will be unlucky and have their wrinkles be quite bad in their late 40s. It is largely genetic, you can do things to help yourself of course, but most of it is out of your control.

@@toebeanteam6259 okay then I'm sorry, but that is genetic for you, same as adult acne is for other people, because I should look like a dried prune if it was all because of stress, as you suggest. I've been through so much in my life that it's hard for a stranger to grasp and it has had no impact on my skin. I maintained a decent skincare routine throughout as a means of calming myself and I never smoked or sunbathed, although I am guilty of consuming too much sugar. I'm certain the stress has impacted my insides because that is where stress really does it's damage.

OMG!! TWO WORDS: FACIAL EXERCISES!! It's downright TRAGIC how this HIGHLY EFFECTIVE, HOLISTIC and CHEAP (or FREE) practice still remains a 'niche' topic! This video was fun and cute, but what saddens me profoundly are many of the comments--- how almost everyone continues harboring the completely ERRONEOUS belief that it's EITHER the "nip, lift, tuck and needle' route OR resign oneself to a visage sagging to your knees with the passage of years. There IS another option!!! And it's not just for the underlying face muscles---Did you know that wrinkles can actually be erased, 'rubbed out' over time with the proper moves? This is just one example of what can be accomplished NATURALLY. Both face exercises and face massage techniques require an investment of discipline and time---exactly like the time and discipline required to achieve a fit and toned body---but they ABSOLUTELY work!! I would recommend a starter routine by name to share for those who may be interested in exploring them, but when I did this in the Facelift Video's comments---to answer somebody's question---my comment was deleted. So, if only one person reads this; if just one person actually grasps the common sense mentality that our faces and necks can be firmed and toned naturally, just like any other muscle group in the body---then I'll feel like I've accomplished a Herculean Feat. And to beautiful Frederique---you look even more stunning since your recent facelift----but PLEASE know that EVERY single nip, lift and tuck for which you just spent THOUSANDS of $$$$$ could've been had BY yourself, FOR yourself, NATURALLY. Bet your plastic surgeon didn't mention this! Even bet he or she told you how the ONLY way to fix "this and that" was by going under the knife!!! Typical. And TRAGIC.

Carol Burnett, a wonderfully funny comedian. One of her skits on her show was a middle age woman coming home from a date. She goes behind a screen and changes into a robe.gone was the enhanced bust and behind. She sits at a vanity (no mirror) that faces the audience. Off come the wig, face tape, false eyelashes and makeup. So funny! Look at Madonna who has gone so far she is scary with how she looks and acts now!!! One woman I heard said “I earned every wrinkle!

Face tape was used during the golden age of Hollywood for actressses who couldn’t get a facelift for one reason or another. The late Lucille Ball admitted to using face tape because she couldn’t get a face lift.
I don’t see a problem with ladies who want to slow down the aging process. In today’s times, women in their 50s and 60s are still working professional jobs, and they want to look ageless so they can remain competitive. The good news is thanks to technology, we can do non-invasive treatments to maintain an ageless look.
