I am a physician. Many of these people who are suddenly becoming thin are using a diabetic medication called semaglutide (ozempic). This is such an issue, especially in the US, that diabetics are struggling to obtain their medication because of shortages. Also, the drug may not be completely harmless, as it has been implicated in the development of thyroid cancers. There are healthy ways to lose weight for those who need to, but starvation is not one of them.
We women are so heavily judged by our appearance. Marketing is the main reason for this (and also porn when it comes to body image). I have dated men who wanted to be with very thin women. Ugh. No quality man thinks like this.
Aim for healthy ladies. Healthy mind in healthy body :))

I don't know if they're still doing it but I've heard of people taking thyroid medication to speed up their metabolism to lose weight without looking at potential medical issues that it could cause. I take Synthroid because I have no thyroid gland & history of thyroid cancer, & now, along with menopause & genetics, I've been putting on weight but I don't care, as long as I don't have any thyroid cancer recurrence, I'm happy! I may not 'work out' but I stay fairly active, I'm 5' 7", I'm a size 14 & always remember, bigger people are harder to kidnap, stay safe my friends 👍😎

I’ll be 60 this summer, and while I’m not ashamed of my age, I am one of two things in society: I am invisible, or I am a joke. My inverted triangle body is now more apple shaped. My hair is graying, but I don’t want to color it-I haven’t given up, I just want to be my natural self. This trend scares me to death because I have nieces who have already damaged their health by starving themselves, and I’m afraid they will stop at nothing to achieve this unhealthy aesthetic. This is dangerous. It’s every bit as unhealthy as obesity. At my age, I understand that I will never and would never look super slim, EVER, but I’m concerned for the younger women who might get caught up in this. Stay healthy! ❤️

Great message! Parenting must be incredibly hard these days. Easy to teach your daughter not to stick her hand in fire because the unpleasant effect is immediate. The effect of social media influencers is more insidious.
I do think involvement in sports - whether organized or not - can help, along with lessons in how to eat for peak performance. At least it might mitigate somewhat the obsession with skinniness by adding in a desire to function optimally.
A lot of high school girls eat a lot of junk food and catching them at that age, making nutritional knowledge and simple food prep an integral part of the sport or activity, might be very helpful.

Thank you for saying this, Frederique. I learned at the very early age of 15 that I will never ever fit society's vision of what is considered beautiful, and sometimes that is hard to accept. But it is what it is, and I would like to see the media offer more representation of different women because I never see myself represented in magazines or on TV. Ladies, the truth is that society offers a rigid view of what we are supposed to look like to be considered attractive and we are supposed to comply by whatever means we can - this is so wrong. Women must reject the 'keep us weak, keep us sick and keep us poor so we won't fight back' mentality.

Kim kardashian was the harbinger for this one. My first thought when I saw that kim had lost all that weight was how many women augmented their bodies to look very curvy, and the same women,or SHEEP( because they have a followers mentality and idol worship)will be hitting the Dexatrim and knocking down the doors of their local med spas and plastic surgeons to achieve sveltness.
I was a personal trainer for a long time and there was always a model or bodybuilder the women wanted to look like. There were some who could achieve such a goal because they had similar body types to the model or athlete they admired. For the others who had difficulty getting their heads around it, we would look thuu muscle mags or fashion mags and I would point out in shape athletes and models who had similar physiques to them and we would work on that.
Its kind of like going to the beauty salon and asking for a haircut or style that will not work with ones hair type, facial shape and so on.

STOP making us feel bigger than what we actually are and you might sell more clothes if they were sized & made for today’s woman! The food industry need to STOP making junk food cheaper & more accessible than healthy food! And the education curriculums need to educate our kids from an early age about what is good food to eat every day food and what is a treat when it’s a special occasion.
Actors, models, celebrities have access to money, and have the time to spend endless hours in the gym, personal chefs, personal trainers and plethora of staff to make sure they stick to the regime. In the real world that is not realistic for us to do &/or maintain.
I am healthy and curvy. I love my curves but I’ve been bullied and called fat all my life, to the point I developed dysmorphia and various other eating disorders and my weight has yo-yo’d and I’ve been on every diet possible. I have kept a pair of jeans from when I was the smallest I ever was at 65kg and they are tiny size 8 and even then I was STILL bullied & called fat because I still had my hourglass figure!
This madness has to stop! No one can look like Kate Moss EXCEPT KATE MOSS! We are EACH an individual with different genetic backgrounds and ancestry that determine our body type and it’s up to each of us to find our “healthy! and remember everything in moderation! If only this world wasn’t driven by money and power! We would all be a lot healthier and happier!
Please be safe, please be realistic, please be healthy and please look out for your friends that may be swayed by the influence of an influencer who should come with a health warning!

You are so right Frederique, I am a bit on the chubby side at the minute. Can't go walking as I have a sprained ankle, but will get back to exercising once it heals. Just wanted to say that you look absolutely fantastic after your procedure. You look 20 years younger. For me, the lip lift is wonderful. You actually have the look of a younger Sophia Loren.

Being a healthy weight is simple there are no secrets, but it is hard for many people they can’t stop bad habits I lost 60 pounds just by eating healthy meaning proteins, low carb, exercise, lifting weights at the gym no sugar, living an alcohol-free life. I live a healthy Keto lifestyle and love it. I’ve never felt better, and I love my body. It’s because I take care of my body and I make healthy choices.

This important Frederique, not because many of us here reading this are in extreme danger, mostly (from what I have read your viewers are well informed intelligent strong women,)but our kids are in great danger.
I have four little girls 9 years approx and I am terrified for them. Firstly they will not want to “be like their parent’s generation” they will think ‘heroine chic’ is desirable.
We HAVE to work out ways to guide and encourage them in the right direction.

Especially in springtime most magazines are full of diets and keep promising, how we can look better in a bikini very quickly. Let us be sensible. Thank you Frederique.

This is a great commentary. I think that the skinny trend is back as a backlash to obese positivity and how obesity is becoming more common. The celebrities and influencers wants to distinguish themselves from the hoi polloi, so being super skinny is the way to do it. Both extremes are bad and unhealthy. I hated this trend in the early 2000s because young, impressionable girls who are in good shape and healthy were starving themselves for a figure that they can’t maintain because they were told that they were “fat”.

Skinny, heroin chic is offensive, and thin trend overlooks the real harm in body shaming. As someone who has been naturally thin my entire life, I've faced my share of skinny jokes and comments that can be just as hurtful as any other type of body shaming. People often assume I support these thin-ideal trends and expect others to conform to them, which couldn't be further from the truth. It's crucial to recognize that teasing someone for their thinness, suggesting they 'eat more,' or questioning their eating habits is also a form of body shaming. I've never judged others based on their body size, yet I've frequently been on the receiving end of such judgments. The focus should not be on promoting any 'ideal' body type but on encouraging everyone to prioritize their health and happiness. Let's shift the conversation towards acceptance and respect for all body types, recognizing that body shaming, whether it's calling someone too fat or too thin, is always unacceptable.

A whole food plant diet has been fantastic for me, I was able to lose weight sensibly while eating big portions and I no longer have cravings, which used to affect me very badly. I eat lots of fruit veggies legumes (beans, peas, lentils) and grains, also potatoes and sweet potatoes and winter squashes, but no vegan junk food or added oil

I'm 67 in April, I remember wearing bikini cut bell bottom jeans and halter tops (which my mother was wearing in the40's) in early 70's, Twiggy was influencing skinny in the 60's, and wasn't Uma Thurman skin n bones in the 80's, so as always, fashion doesn't really change, it just cycles. Isn't being a female fun? ☺️

I’m totally against being ultra slim, of course if it’s genetic, then we can’t do much. I prefer to preserve my muscle mass and stay strong throughout my lifetime. Curves are amazing and we need to rebel against trends or following what other people look like. I don’t support obesity either but taking care of our body with quality food, exercise, mental and emotional health is something not many promote. People don’t know that if they starve themselves they will mess up their metabolism. Health goes beyond our diets and body shapes, could we create a wave of body love, self-acceptance and strengthening values such as discipline, self-care, kindness, understanding and so on. I refuse to eat just lettuce for a crazy trend. Let’s eat well, go to the gym, meditate, cultivate great bonds with people, we will be glowing on another level ❤
