Perhaps we need to emphasize professionalism, intellect and hard work over looks. Our girls are looking up to these insta-trends too much. Encourage girls to look up to scientists, authors etc.

But if you are not as smart or your public school did not prepare you for college…..the trend is for Kim Kardashian’s body and girls think that guys want that body. Also the trend for onlyfans accounts that can make you $1 million per year even though that isn’t true.

The BBL trend /hour glass. There are some women ( black women) who have that shape naturally. Some Arab and Latina women have that shape. But this BBL should stop. Why cant beauty be celebrated for all folks and all shapes.

There has been a trend of black women falling prey to unsafe surgeries and injections to get a more exaggerated hourglass look. Black women may be more vulnerable to this pressure because the look is most prized in the black community.

To answer you from my own experience, it was always drilled into my head that a women had to marry young and have kids. Whether she liked a man was irrelevant, being that she would grow to like him. And once she became a mom, her main focus would be the kids. My own father once told me that I want getting any younger, and that at a certain age, no man would spit in my face.

When I feel overwhelmed by the beauty standards, I look to the classic makeup trends of france, which is how I found you. Less is more, try to embrace natural. We're all gonna die at some point anyway. It's our health that matters. I've even distanced myself for my own mental health from a friend who keeps up with the trends big time because it's unattainable and tiring to even try.

this reminded me of a few documentaries that I watched about body trends in China like ear "enlargement" where they get surgery on their ears to make their faces look smaller and calve surgery that crippled some women and is now illegal. Body trends are just so crazy to me, I hope I always have this mindset.

It is so sad and pathetic seeing that some of these women want to degrade themselves looking like a sexual doll instead of looking like a real person.
So many decades of women struggling and fighting for their rights are now being thrown down the drain.
On the other hand some others are encouraging obesity and that’s wrong too.
The dangers to your health are real.
Social media is going way too far and people seem to be losing their intelligence and self esteem.
We need more education, learning new things, knowing other places, expanding our mind and spiritual horizons and learn to love ourselves.
    Big hug Frédérique!

The most recent death happened 2 days ago. She was 31, left behind two toddlers, and a loving family. It made me terribly sad. Life is truly fragile! Acceptance of one’s self is the key to life.

Cancer and its treatment change can also change one’s appearance. In my own experience, it is amazing how many people feel free to comment, whether positively or negatively, on those changes. Embrace yourself, people. Take care of your health and don’t focus on other people’s opinions. They don’t know your journey.

I'm telling you, growing up in the 80s and 90s with the obsession of being thin, a subscription to vogue magazine and always being on a low fat diet left me with chronic metabolic syndrome and a terrible struggle with body image. These days im just trying to be heathy. I'm not going to starve myself to be thin because guess what? It doesn't work. Eventually your body gets to a point where youve damaged your metabolism and you will struggle no matter what. So its better to just focus on being as healthy as possible and i think you will get to a natural correct weight and that's good.

I agree and honestly when young women have face lifts and alter the face with filler and Botox, it makes them look older and it becomes a vicious circle for those with body dysmorphia issues as well… save those decisions for when you are older and actually by the time you are in your 50’s you get pretty comfortable in your skin and realize your health is what is is important ( being strong and having a powerful brain and heart) ❤

My first thoughts were, what happens when these women are in their 50’s, 60’s when they’ve broken down their skin barrier structures. It may seem like forever away, but here I am turning 50 next year, how did that happen so fast?!! I have a scar down the side of my face from having a skin cancer cut out when I was 40 - I grew up when sun-worshipping was fashionable. My plastic surgeon was like Are You Sure, we can treat the cancer with a cream… I just had the third of my three boys, and I said Cut the fucker out of me, my priority is my babies right now. PERSPECTIVE. Look after our skin, look after our bodies and look after our minds.

    Tribalism is insane.
People become so obsessed with their position that even slight deviations or minute differences in opinion get someone labeled "the enemy". As soon as you start hearing somebody talking about "allies" in the context of some social or political cause, you know they are too far gone.

Thank you once again for an informative video. I think one of the hardest things to deal with is being a woman. I remember being a teen and having a need to see my hip bones sticking out! This was back in the late 60s. I was so thin……all of 92 pounds. I ate an apple a day to stay thin. I look back and see I had a bad eating disorder! My mother was always drunk so didn’t even notice. I finally gained weight when I got pregnant at 26. I got to 160:pounds! I was sooooo unhappy. This, over the years, even though I got to 105 lbs after having my child, haunted me. Then you age. Then comes menopause. Never being satisfied just doesn’t go away. It’s thrown in our faces 24/7. These influencers make me sick. They are destroying young females. This will never end! Every day I have to work at being accepting of myself. I’m 70! I feel so bad for young people. I know what they are going through. This is so sad. Keep talking, dear lady. Hopefully you will be heard ❤️

For those that remove their checks, what will they look like once they enter their 40’s and later? We are spending so much time trying to define and conform to rigid definitions that will always be fleeting. I wish our obsession with beauty shifted towards health instead. Real health, and that we would remember to respect each other, value our individuality, not suffocate and exhaust energy for change and instead strengthen our individual will and inherent right to be different because if we did that, society would be so much better for it.

I used to have a more rounded face which was part of youth but when I hit my 30's my body naturally reduced the buccal fat and became a bit more refined (Disclaimer: I have always kept a healthy weight) , but that's part of the aging process. Just age gracefully, cultivate your knowledge, be kind and pleasant, plastic surgery was only meant for people who were born with deformities or who had terrible accidents and needed to help them with their appearance.

When I see them bleeding, bruised, agonizing, with stiches and tubes I can only tell to myself :"no", it's gonna be only if I need something, if one of those surgeries will make my life better, and correct some physical issue( hanging skin, or some split muscles as an example, or huge breasts that give backpains, that sort of stuff) otherwise absolutely not. I will not mutilate myself just because they post stuff on social media, and some people flock and start giving attention to the influencers after that. Absolutely not. I'm fine with my solitude. Before even watching, I can tell you it is body dismorphia, eating disorders, plastic surgery, & emulating unattainable modern "beauty standards". Love & appreciate the natural, beautiful woman you were created to be. Kate Moss & "heroin chic" was the look/trend when I was a teen/young woman, which majorly influened/praised my already existing anorexia & body dismorphia, that stemmed from childhood sexual trauma & abandonment, then at the tend age of 19, actual heroin addiction. I suffered from both for many years, but so grateful & blessed that I was given the gift of desperation to free myself from addiction, anorexia, body dismorphia, trauma ,& able to love myself enough to choose life & peace. 8yrs free from the bondage of self!

The idea of specific types of plastic surgeries “trending ” is horrifying. It’s surgery not a hemline or shoe style. Plastic surgery is personal and should be customized to the individual. There are always risks, it’s expensive and satisfactory results are not guaranteed. When someone researches it, finds a good surgeon and has realistic expectations, it can be great. But if someone doesn’t like themselves to begin with, no surgery is going to help.

Appreciate your channel and perspectives. All of these body trends are based on sexual attractiveness and commercial viability. It’s using and exploiting women for various purposes, driven by males, objectifying and reducing women to satisfy someone else’s needs, not to become a fully developed, contented, individualized person of substance in her own right. And this is terrible.

thank you for this ! I never grew up with self hate except for hair frizz and pimples. I now know how to fix both problems with natural means. I am so grateful I didn't grow up with "body positivity" or all this shape shifting with surgery. I had more fuller cheeks until 32. one day I just noticed my cheeks went as full. I'm glad I never removed my buccal fat . I would look like a corpse . I support body neutrality . My day plummets when people comment on my looks - mainly middle aged women hating me for being thin or some guy saying how nice I look when I do a full face of makeup instead of just mascara, foundation concealer and brows- I'm more than my looks I got brains and talents !
Also In the past the 1700's -early 1900s women faked their sizes and shape with undergarments , padding and stuffing . didn't have a nice plump butt - fake it with a bum pad up until the late 1800's . didnt have large boobies ? pad out your corset until 1910. wanted a slim waist for the 1920's? wear a girdle that smashed everything down. I know alot of clothing historians talk about how women faked the perfect silhouette with clothing. @AbbyCox talks about her antique clothes she collects - they aren't small ! one has a large size of 48" or so bust if I remember correctly and the women must have been short and stout to. ! Bodies come in all shapes and sizes throughout all ages !

It's crazy that body surgery trends are even a thing. Major surgery for a trend?! It's not like dying your hair neon green and having regrets. You can fix that relatively quickly and painlessly but what are these young girls going to do when they are older and realize the face loses some of its fat with age, but they've already removed their buccal fat in their 20's. What are their faces going to look like?
Please Frederique, keep talking about body types. It's so helpful to know you can't change your skeletal structure and there's nothing wrong with that. What profoundly helped me was about 10 years ago I came upon an exercise instructor that had her own program and videos. She emphasized different body types and how to make each strong and healthy. It was a revelation to me when she pointed out someone could have a long torso and about 6"-8" between the top of the hip bone and the last rib. They could lean to their side and almost touch their ankle. Because of this extra space in their torso they were capable of having a quite small waist. She said some people only had 1"-2" between the hip and last rib bone and when reaching to the side may only get as far as their knee since bone was hitting bone. Because of this they would never have a tiny 25" waist but could achieve a tight and strong core and most likely had nice long legs. Many people are somewhere in between but she emphasized not beating yourself up over something that's physically impossible for you to achieve. It was such a relief to hear that and it's why I enjoy learning how to dress the different body types. Hourglasses and to some extent Pears are the gold standard for women but not all of us are built that way.
Ok, I'm waiting for the large waist to become trendy, LOLLOLLOL 🤣

It seems things shift from one thing to another with the goal of others profiting along the way via what they sell you or what you need to do. It is not only our person but also our homes and in some cases children. We need to look different into why it is I want people to look at me or why do I need to keep up with them. We want people to be their healthiest, according to doctors end stop. People have become so sensitive that doctors do not mention that weight is not healthy. If we have seen something like 'the big hack' we see how easy it is to manipulate us. I am over 50 and every woman I know that had implants has had them removed. Mean girls, glamorizing talking down about women is not good for any of us. Love this video.

It hurts me to see how different some of these young women look after getting their buccal fat removed - their face lose that beautiful soft roundness of youth and instead looks caved in and hollow...I dread to think how haggard they are going to look when they get older given that our faces naturally thin as we age. But I guess when you're 25 being 40 seems like a long time away...

    Hello Frederique.
I am a fan of yours for sure and felt the need to respond.
I watched your recent video most intently and I think you presented wonderfully the viewpoint of self contentment not being contingent on the fashion/influencers latest craze but being something that is attainable through self validation,--- not the latest purse or plastic surgery.
As a health care provider for over 30+ years I have observed that the fanaticism for all of these body modifications and use of filters has been potentiated by Covid pandemic in that we all went inside to avoid Covid and there was fear and boredom along with cabin fever so we used electronic means to connect, be entertained and be creative. It was man made,--- and it is incredible and theatric.
Combine that with modern man/woman's herd mentality to be/attain what leaders influencers have to be considered successful or beautiful and I think you said it--- we arrive where we are today. In the USA I can say that despite media campaigns to celebrate individuality and the fact we are all different we are still innately tied to what is presented to us through media to be aligned with the latest trends and even those who are "individuals" are now able to be copied "en masse" due to media and a surgeon.
I would share from the healthcare perspective plastic reconstructive surgery is a wonderful gift to mankind as it does really help to fix situations where someone has a true medical issue as well as someone who is really not comfortable with small breasts or the bump in their nose or needs a refresh to feel the outside is congruent with the way they feel, or it is something that is socially/psychologically ostracizing them, or holding them back from interacting with confidence in public or in personal relationships.
Understanding that those with unlimited bank accounts can afford to be "trendy" and not only restyle their bodies and hold it out to us as beauty but can see that once their figure has become too popular and they are appearing "basic" can re-style themselves again surgically to set a new trend and hold their place as influencers and leaders. If you committed to the trend and now it changed you are out of luck without funds for further modification.
Everyone should consider some basic things about plastic surgery:
It is a medical procedure and once done may require more surgery to change it if you do not like it. I agree with what you have said about risk.
A board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon worth their salt will always ask a patient WHY they feel the need to have a procedure- what is their personal reason for doing this alteration to their bodies which is a gauge for satisfaction post operatively. Is it being done for the wrong reasons (for someone else), or the motivation is suggesting a person has deeper issues that plastic surgery no matter how perfectly done will not change, and thus likely the patient will not be happy with the result.
Also, consider you can change your body to be however you want it to be with plastic surgery but you can never change your DNA and what you pass on to your biological children. So, if you fix your outstanding ethnic features, or the nose your grandmother had, your children will not inherit your post surgery features,--- they will get what DNA gives them.
Consider what message we are sending to our biological children that we felt the need to change ourselves surgically? Will they think their parents feel the need to FIX those inherited things in them? Do we now need to save for college and a plastic surgery fund so the kids look like they belong to their parents as adults?
I agree with you Frederique that perhaps we need to start with how we message to the younger generations is where we see the real physical beauty in ourselves is in our wonderful variety and support that.
    H

Confidence rooted in Jesus Christ alone!
Here in Southern California, I hear of and see MANY young women running to Tijuana, Mexico to get "The Mommy Makeover". This literally transforms their body to an exaggerated hour glass. It looks so fake and sadly these girls weren't bad at all prior to the surgery. That reflects a HUGE lack of CONFIDENCE. So so sad.

It's crazy that already beautiful women are so insecure and risk looking far worse or even dying while undergoing these procedures. I am not conventionally beautiful but I've grown to like and love my body at the tender age of 57, it's never too late, I am slim, dress stylishly and hold my head high. And I smile!

The fad here in Australia is body/face body sculpting.
It's not invasive and I'd like to hear from anyone who has had it.
At my gym there are a lot of Asian girls and some of them have had this procedure and there are a few who has the exact same butt.
Asians weren't born with hips that support big Kim Kardashian butt's.

Corporations use social media to captivate young minds to maximize profits. Meaningful things such as promoting intellectual growth, curiosity, and internal exploration, take a backseat, while the beauty industry, offering endless commodities like cosmetics, skincare, fashion, weight loss, plastic surgery, hair extensions, etc., generate enormous profits and power for these conglomerates. In a consumer-driven society profits always trump well-being. Perhaps AI should take over the world if it means resetting egregiously corrupted human values. 🤔

I think people forget that we're all susceptible to trends throughout human history. In my own culture, it was considered beautiful to copy the elites and have a flat head that resembled a cone. People would attach heavy coins to the craniums of babies. I think people forget that we're all susceptible to trends throughout human history. In my own culture, it was considered beautiful to copy the elites and have a flat head that resembled a cone. People would attach heavy coins on the craniums of babies. The foot binding that was considered a beautiful in Asia. And even during the flapper era, it went from the Gibson girls that were curvy and voluptuous to the boyish silhouette of a flapper where women with binder chest. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be beautiful, but it's important to realize that beauty is finite, whereas inner beauty is something that radiates throughout your life. , where inner beauty is something that radiates throughout your life. It's natural to want to be visually appealing to attract a partner. Being aesthetically pleasing to the eye is a neat part of her creation not just for human beings been in the animal kingdom as well. birds don't have beautiful plumage just because it's pleasing to the human eye. It's because it helps attract a mate. No one wants to be lonely. Everyone wants to be valued and intelligence isn't something that can be seen in a snapshot interaction. And while I don't think people should change their bodies, just based on an aesthetic that's a trend, ultimately if it makes someone feel better, we shouldn't judge them for wanting to put their bath selves forwards, even though they've gone about it in a way that's unhealthy. It reminds me of a quote from White Oleander, “Of course, you're not worried about Beauty you've never been ugly a day in your life.”

Removing the buccal fat is the dumbest thing any woman could do. As we age we naturally lose volume in our face due to collagen and bone loss. These young people who are doing this are going to look like skeletons and gaunt (seriously) when they are in their 40s. This is so wrong and shame on the doctors for not telling them about this.
