    What considerations are there to where the insert plate should be positioned (here you have it closer to the back edge) and where the t-track should be?

    • @l.w.c.2519
      @l.w.c.2519 Před rokem

      I'm searching all over trying to find an explanation for why/where the router plate should sit in relation to the table edge, miter bar, etc. It seems like it's kind of random. I'd also like to know the reason for why the T-tracks that the fence ride in aren't longer? The longer they are, the more capacity the router has to do dados in a sheet good, etc. Maybe if it's that large of a piece it's best to use a hand router to do it on the top? Still searching for some answers...

      @@l.w.c.2519 I searched as well but as you say it’s very anecdotal. The main issue with the single T Track position seems to be things like feather boards. It would be best to consider the typical locking distance of a featherboard and use that to figure out what distance you might need. As for the fence guides I’ve no idea either!
      I couldn’t find any good info anywhere on the issue. I don’t know router tables enough to understand what are the limitations.

  • @tedfritsch3340
    @tedfritsch3340 Před 3 lety +2

    Hmm, is there a down and dirty measurement as to the distance of the T tracks from the router? Or is it a personal choice, I'm seeing so many different places of the T Tracks.

    • @WillysGarageNorway
      @WillysGarageNorway  Před 3 lety +1

      I know that table saws have a down and dirty measurement of 15cm from center saw blade. When it comes to router tables I think its personal pref. I can measure on my table and se what I used if you want?

    • @WillysGarageNorway
      @WillysGarageNorway  Před 2 lety +2

      I used the same measurements as on most table saws (center t-track from center saw blade) that is 15 cm or approx 6 inches 👍
      And I think that works great, can even use some of the slide jigs on both machines :)

    Way to complicated and not accurate routing 3:09, use nylon screws under the 4 corners of the plate for 100% leveling.
