Having Trinity limit helps a LOT since you're solo in the fight, especially when he uses the fire pillars. Just limit into him and hack away for heavy damage while he can't even move. Its also good to use on him when ending a combo to continue your damage
haha damn i beat em in 1min 14 by starting phase 4 with full ground combo followed by trinity limit, such a flash fight ender lol
Sephiroth's much harder to beat in KH1 imo.
Correct. It's easier here with the forms and lengthy combo's.
Just Junior I got a total of 0 hits out of 5 attempts. His guard is always up...
Dolphinboi there will always be an opening right after the command, usually I would do it than quick run away so he can upper cut me and I can pull another combo in the air off in.

I got rekt about 40 times, got lvl 99, ultima weapon, limit abilities...and still got rekt 10 times before beating him

I beat in 47 with pumpkins. Win in 3rd try lel (its critical mode)
@@bisquits8175 i wanna kill myself with how often i die to him on critical mode i've tred at least 50 times and got him to his 2 to last bar of health before RNG takes into effect and fucks me over. P.S. i have the ultima weapon and maxed out all my drives.

Hey thanks I beat Sephiroth in one try after seeing this, I didnt even equip decisive pumpkin or reflect, I just went in for a test run to see how difficult it would be and I quite literally beat him up.
Correction for Decisive Pumpkin: It doesn't strengthen your finishers directly. It has the ability Combo Boost, which strengthens your ground combo proportionally as long as the combo goes on. This passively strengthens your finishers on thebground again. Your air combo is unaffected.
Took almost 10 years to get here, but I’m glad I got it all completed! This guide definitely helped satisfy my kid self

I actually just managed to beat him second try (!) with this guide and a little improvization by just using limit form and spamming sonic blade at about 2 health bars left. Thank you so much, this saved me so much time!

Your guide is awesome! I got super lucky on my 2nd try - he only did his beginning move until I dropped him to 25%, then it was just survive until I could land the finishing combos
This is exactly how you want to fight him. In the original game there was no limit form though and I seen my cousin beat him level 37 with the Kingdom key so it's definitely a pattern to the way he fights. Even though he said he did it at level 27 but I didn't see that LOL
I remember 12 year old me getting my ass kicked over and over by him. I got into KH2 again 20 years later and finally beat him thanks to your vid. Thank you!
I know his attack pattern enough to beat him on my first try. But it's nice to see these strategies I've never thought to use.

I also equipped berserk charge for when I'm not able to stop his hp and mp drain move then I just started attacking and wouldn't stop till he teleported then healed myself. If it wasn't for your guide I would have never beat him. Thumbs up 👍

also, if you dont have i higher level aerial dodge, u can trinity limit to instantly hit him when he does his angel attack.
the fight moved faster than I thought but I still lost on my fist try but he was in phase 2 so I guess I didn't do that bad

It took me an hour and a half of losing, but I did it.
I was at level 73, proud mode, four of my growth abilities at level 2 and used the Kingdom Key Keyblade.
I kind of followed your tips here, except I had to get close to Sephiroth so that he won't teleport and knock me into the air, of course later on into the fight I blocked that attack and kept blocking. That was the key, always know when to block. Even when I didn't stop him from using that Heartless Angel move, I immediately used an Elixir to get back to full HP and MP. And when he had two health bars left, I went into Limit form and bashed him quickly with it's classic abilities.
So yeah, I'm proud of defeating Sephiroth like this.

Guide is fairly solid, however there is no need to remove Combo Master at all. Not forcing his revenge in P1 is a valid way of looping him in that phase but doesn't work consistently afterwards. Solo Trinity is another valid option for those tricky moments. Also, standing still won't always hit the Shadow Flares (Orbs) it's always a safe bet to move slightly to the left or right and then hit reflect to ensure they disperse. You condensed the guide pretty well though, nice job.

I found that to reach him during heartless angel, I had to turn combo master on, but to be fair I haven't maxed out my valor form yet 😂

Just beat him at level 49 with decisive pumpkin thank man! The little out crop he stands before the fight saved me because he cant teleport behind you or half circle around you as easy!

Also, if you're feeling extra ballsy, you can combo him once with a normal finisher (that's not explosion), then start a 2nd combo and use explosion there to punish Sephiroth even more. When he enters his meteor attack, just quick run or aerial dodge over it.

I defeat this boss on level 60 in critical mode, it took me 2 hour to learn all of his movement and defeat him perfectly without taking any damage.

Just beat sephiroth at lvl 57 with this guide. Fight itself took shorter than one may think. Multiple deaths is what made it take a little under an hour

I've beaten KH2 Sephiroth so many times that I came back literal years after I last played the game and I still beat him first try on Critical
He's virtually just as hard on critical as normal/proud in terms of difficulty since most combos and attacks reduce you to 1h either way. Good job though, guess it's like riding a bike for you lol

If he does the Heartless Angel, can you thundaga him and it’ll cancel or only physical attacks will work?
I beat him by being an experienced KH player, level 99, Ultima Weapon and a gang of Elixirs. Once you peep his pattern it's a wrap
Hey if you do Retaleating Slash your second chance and once more ability gets negated which means you can't use it.
Extra Tips ;)
1. Have THE MOST POWERFUL KEYBLADE (Like Decisive Pumpkin, Ultima Weapon Or Rumbling Rose)
2. Practice To Dodge Roll And Guarding Or Reflecting
3. If You Wanted To Use Your Final Move Of He is Have No More Green Square Use Limit Form

Remember doing this on my ps2 as a 19 year old and hating this fight so much. Took me weeks. Today I see this guide. I had a similar build but always forget about combo master. Just got him down today. Took me about 15-20 tries. Except I’m in my mid 30’s re living my past 😂
Remember to equip aerial spiral so that you dont come up short after your midair jump.
I was level 67 when I fought this man took me 7 tries, but it was really fun!
He is the only person I was never able to beat back in the day. Nothing has changed for me now

@@mrj0nny2t0es8 Adrenaline can do that to you.. But after you've settled down, get back to it! Be sure to keep calm and breathe calmly. Don't hasten your inputs. Think of it as a dance. Movement is key!
the problem i have in phase 1 is that his sword looks longer and shorter at some times and i mess up the blocking time and instantly die

Yeah I did it my method which was have the kingdom key and on critical mode it really helped so I used limit form for the limits and used sonic blade for damage and man does it do damage

As soon as I reached lvl 49 and got second chance, I was deadset on beating him. But it got bad fast since one hit would get me to 1 hp and I only had 5 ethers on me. Managed to beat him when I realised that if you only hit the first finisher (before the rotating orbs) you can wait a bit before he hits the ground to do another combo, and if you do this at the very start, the 2nd finisher during the 2nd combo should still hit after he teleports so you could do a 3rd combo

I think u forgot to mention his DM in which he casts metoer on you , unless u have glide it'll be very difficult to survive it . Nice guide tho , and it was also nice to end it with " may your heart be your guiding key " 👍
It's true, I had forgotten to mention it. As I made this guide with these moves, he never cast meteor on me so I completely forgot the attack.

Dose the memoire key blade work
problem is I don't know how to even start the fight with him. as soon as I was done with Hollow Bastion, I haven't been able to find him
You have to finish space paranoids 2nd visit and then he is unlocked. When cloud and Leon are walking aroubd in the marketplace then you know he is unlocked.
i managed to beat sephiroth with the Fatal crest keyblade ^^ the fatal keyblade has the negative combo ability so you can pretty much destroy him for around 10 seconds before he starts to attack again

Glitchy being level 99 and the Ultima weapon helped alot i died multiple times right before he had 3 notches left but this was sooo much better than when i played the original kingdom hearts 2

I defeated Sephiroth with a strategy of mine (didnt watch any guides on how to and literally adapted as i died, took me one afternoon 4 hours.
i was level 70-76, had all drive abilities lvl 2, combo boost, explosion, square button knock up (the one where sora hits the ground with the tip of the blade), finishing plus, one ether and reflect on quick cast, inventory was all hi-potion and 2 ethers.
I avoided as much as possible leaving the ground, as it usually means death, specially by his teleport knock up combo>Octalash cheese and its disjointed upward hitbox.
1st Phase:
-Block initial Octalash (reaction command).
-We want him to use Octalash (reaction comand) as much as posible as it allows a full punish.
-stay at the tip of the lenght of his blade or a bit more.
-first time you block his normal combo (2 blocks) punish with ground combo and drop it before finisher, to prevent his teleport.
-After this first punish, when you block his normal combo do a full ground combo then press □ to knock him up (dont use upward slash, use the other one), wait for Sephy to hit the ground and as he jumps back, reset full ground combo (no knock up and no finisher), when i tried to hit him before he landed he would teleport... a lot.
-If Sephy disapears from screen, FIRST block THEN search for him.
2nd phase:
-Starts when he trows orbs (Reflect them).
-Do not heal with curaga, save mana for Reflect.
-Quick run fire pilars around him.
-Block his combo and punish same way in Phase 1 (with the reset).
-blocked Octalash = full punish (with reset).
-I didnt knew you could interrup his "Heartless Angel", so when he started rising up i got ready to use a Hi pot (stay at a button press from using it).
-He usually follows up Heartless angel (1hp and no mana) with Octalash, if you derped like me and used a hi-pot you can cancel the animation into Reaction Command then do a full punish (with Reset).
3rd Phase:
-Starts when he starts to glow purple.
-He can move further with his normal combo.
-He now teleports behind you, making a feint along the way so be wary, as he can also normal teleport to mix you up.
- Again blocked OCTALASH = FULL PUNISH (with reset).
-He can follow up his normal combo into another normal combo so try to delay the punish (if you reset it in this phase drop it after a few hits as he can get out of it by vanish or super armor).
-Reflect the orb spam at him (Reflect is cancelable into reaction comand).
-to dodge his meteor rain: Double jump into fly from one end of the screen to the other (horizontally), when you hit the wall, land and double jump into fly in the oposite direction, repeat as many times as needed.
What I did: heal when I have to with curaga, and when he knocks me in the air, I do a retaliating slash, and spam square in berserk mode since I have map charge. Spamming square in air demolishes him. I beat this on 78, with no arial dodge, and no quick run, just glide and dodge roll. You should try it if you have berserk.

Managed to do it at level 50, took alot of tries but definitely doable
44 hours deep, level 76 I delayed this fight til almost the end and it took four tries and my first try I didn’t even have retaliating slash on.
Sephiroth beat me more times than I can count. But FINALLY managed to defeat him once. I have a saying: Victory is sweetest when you've tasted defeat. Now, the Ultimate Weapon will soon be within my grasp.
i just loaded up my KH2 (ps3 HD) and at lv72, decisive pumpkin and literally no magic equipped (not even reflega or curaga) i beat em
he's so EASY to read like full second openings, almost 4 seconds to stop his "descend heartless angel"
i haven't played it in about 4 years so just starting it up and beating sephiroth (course i made sure what each button does lol)
i forgot i can glide/float in place so then i decided to see how fast i can kill em
after 3 attempts afterwards, i managed a no damage kill cause floating is so OP, what are you slashing there Sephi i'm up here! LOL
again, lv72
real talk, i spammed X (no movement or jumps or lockon) on one attempt to see how far i'd get, i got to phase 4 before he went flame+orb+slash crazy
