- This footage was first thought to be a conceptual art piece produced by the band before making music videos had become standard music industry practice. While the exact date and circumstances under which it was produced are unclear, the anonymous donor of the footage claims that it had been screened to students for nearly twenty years as part of the public school curriculum, until its use was discontinued in 1984…

LYRICS:
We’re taking over the world
one kiss at a time
and then I’m taking your girl
and I’m making her mine
No reason why
I'm only doing anything I want to do
Because I do it all the time
We’re taking over the world
A little victimless crime
and when I’m taking your innocence
I’ll be corrupting your mind
No need to cry
I’m only doing anything I want to do
because I do it all the time
(do it all the time)
now we’re so young
but we’re probably gonna die
and it’s so fun
we’re so good at selling lies
we look so good
and we never even try
get your money from a trust fund
do it all the time
We’re taking over the world
one kiss at a time
and then I’m taking your girl
and I’m making her mine
No reason why
I’m only doing anything I want to do
Because I do it all the time

I love the colors and props used in this. So much so, that I did a deep dive on what they were...
- The "mic" and PA that Dallon uses is an IVAC Corporation "IVAC 630" volumetric infusion pump. It came in orange. It did not come with a mic.
- Computer in front of the pneumatic horn section is a New Brunswick Scientific ML-4100 Multi Loop Microprocessor Controller (used for operating a scientific fermenter/bioreactor). Appears to be painted orange for the video.
- Other "device" in front of the horns section is a Scantron 888P+ optical scoring machine, also painted orange.
- Above the simulated reel-to-reel computer is a Burleigh CE-2000 Three-Axis Inchworm Controller (originally came in orange)
(For the life of me, I could not figure out what that camera was... I'm guessing Polaroid but find nothing relatively close in searches)
The camera almost looked like one of those mini radio TVs flipped.
Well done!
Thank you for telling us!!!
Oooh I know this one! The camera is from a Polaroid ID-3 id card printer. I own all of it except for the camera, so I recognized it while searching for one to complete the set!

Nah, nobody has. Therefore if you watch it you're gonna love it
I showed this to my mother who is a Valley Girl who loves New Wave and she adored this and immediately started to asks about what else you guys do. It was a flashback to what she loved about the music she grew up with and the visuals reminded her of her father's work during the Cold War (he would have loved this too if he were still alive). Totally made her day, thanks!
I am 54 in a month so possibly your mother's age. I am not sure why CZcams's algorithm suggested this to me but it is the perfect marriage of early 80s New Wave, Cold War aesthetics and modern hipster precision. My parents had this exact shade of orange kitchen in 1972, and my dad was an early computer scientist. We had a reel-to-reel tape deck in the living room. Everything about this band is absolutely perfect. It's like David Bowie, Talking Heads and The Human League had a love child and fed it to a 60's analog synth.
@@lonefrontranger My grandpa also has an orange kitchen. There's even a built-in electronic clock. I loved playing with them as a child.

Fun fact: The mannequin musicians in the background are wearing Dallon's old suits from when he was in Panic! at the disco
oh really?? wao
wait i swear i saw this comment a year ago, why it says it's recent
This guy was in Panic at the Disco?
I don't know the musicians I listen to 😅
@@jennifervan75 Yeah, he was a touring musician for them from vices & virtues to death of a bachelor. He quit to focus on his own projects. he wrote a lot of songs for Panic! at the disco, and some were borrowed from demos from Dallon's old band - The Brobecks - a good example being 'Far too young to die'.
Freya he was an official member for a while too but for some reason he went back to a touring member.

I just want to let the creators know that is the only music video on the internet that actively captivates me every single time this song starts to play on my playlist. Just- well done, well executed, good story through visuals. Amazing!
I randomly stumbled upon this while listening to a reggae, folk, and jazz playlist. Saw it in the suggestions, now.. I'm hooked. Encore 👏
Fun fact: That little animation at the end (and the music with it) was actually made by a computer in the 60's, and was featured in a 1968 film called The Incredible Machine.

1 This duo was in a band called the Brobecks together that didn't do too well or something in the early naughties(a really good album was released and then they broke up)

I think the lore for IDKHOW is that the band was a government experiment during the 80s to how music effects people. That's why most of IDKHOW's music is so weird. Suddenly, the experiment was scrapped and the evidence was trying to be destroyed, but some videos and clips are being discovered now.
