  • Hey guys! Finally, a long-awaited sparring video! My friend and sparring partner Nick has been boxing for a little under a year, he started in the start of 2023. We both train together multiple times per week. In this session we were both working on our technique without trying to load up too much power into the punches. I hope you guys enjoy the footage!

    Man this looks like you take a lot from these drills instead of just straight hard sparring. Love it and going to implement this into my training as a new boxer!

      Glad you enjoyed it! Hard sparring all the time is just not beneficial, I prefer sparring lighter sometimes to work on technique.

    Small ring honestly, you could've stepped backwards each time your friend jabbed most of the occasions if the ring was bigger, but i guess we gotta take profit of what we have, great clips, excellent head movement. Loved that elbow block very much i used to use it but i noticed it leaves me open for the body, so now i follow the european style of defense mostly, stepping backwards with a pivot and slipping or duking it's called pendulum boxing and it helped me a lot, used by most eastern european boxers.

    Mostly after situational sparring the guy with better technique and experience can get his rhythm off better than the guy with less

    Great touch spar with good technique. No head gear though only mouth guard? Is that common? I’m from Canada and our gym only allows us to spar with mouth guard, head gear and doctors medical approval (completed every year). Just started watching your channel. Enjoying the content!

    • @dzhulian.
      @dzhulian. Před 7 měsíci

      With 99% of head gear you can’t move your head and you a bigger target the though is to have some protection but not be able to dodge punches is worse than getting hit once with less protection instead of ten times. It’s interesting that here in America they let us get hit with just mouth guards… I guess Canada cares more.

    • @Aristomenis93
      @Aristomenis93  Před 7 měsíci +2

      no head gear as we weren't going very hard, and the head gear distorts the distances required to pull and slip punches as your head becomes a bigger target like @dzhulian said. But I wear head gear for harder sparring which I might get a video of for you guys soon!

    • @burgerkang3249
      @burgerkang3249 Před 6 měsíci

      @@Aristomenis93 Isn't head gear worse for your brain? It gives the illusion of safety however a punch still snaps your neck back, and as you said it skews one's perception of distance

    • @Aristomenis93
      @Aristomenis93  Před 6 měsíci

      I've heard this, I'm not sure to be honest. I definitely get less headaches when I spar without headgear but also don't spar as hard, so that could be the reason also. It's a tough one. I'd need to do some research and get back to you.@@burgerkang3249
