I never finished this game myself mainly because of just how long it is and too much to do in it, but my main reason for not finishing it is the loading times when you load the game or when you die. It was just too annoying to deal with so. Here's hoping they at least fixed that and it's not just a visual upgrade.

@gamervenkat803 to be fair to the last of us, it WAS a remake. I know people can't figure that out because there's not much mechanical difference. But every part of it was rebuilt, aside from the voice and motion capture acting. Were they charging too much? Yes. Was it a mostly pointless thing for naughty dog to have done in the first place? Yes. But it WAS a remake.
If you bought it through EA (Origin), you don't even get the free update :(

this is my favorite game of all time, I was so sad when I finished it. the dlc is like a whole different game itself as well.

Crazy to think that this is a free update lol they definitely could've earned a LOT just by making it a whole new game or just selling it as a DLC considering how many people modded the game to make it look better but still hella impressive that they decided to value the players more in this case, I wish more games do that in the future

CDPR ruined their rep with release state of Cyberpunk 2077 but I think they are on the way to redemption by doing things like this.

I picked up this game GOTY for 10 dollars 3 years ago, every time I picked up to play, there was some news of an update, kept me waiting to play. I am so glad to be able to experience this for the first time, there's so much hype, I'm really excited to finally be able to play in all its glory.

i play the witcher (one) on day one in 2005 and then witcher 2 on day one,and after that i replay witcher 2 almost 5 times untill witcher 3 come out and after that i never stop playng witcher 3 untill last year .and now im again ready to wet my pens again with some vampire blood and cut is head and grab is fangs to sell for a ounce ogg silver!!!to buy another silver sword and repit the process untill my eyes burn out!!

For lots of people myself included this game doesn't hit at first. I came back to it after a break at first. It's the most accessible but still relatively "deep" and smart fantasy adventure you'll ever play. If the beginning doesn't stick for you, just watch a couple youtube tip videos and read all the lore you can at the beginning, so rewarding, holy crap.

As someone who’s owned the Witcher 3 for 5 years and never got around to playing it, I’m extremely excited to finally jump into this. Time to see what all the hype has been about.
The story is what it makes so good. I got bored with it in the first couple of quest but there's this quest from Velen region that made me realize that this game is something. The Baron quest. Enjoy.

You kinda got to sink some time into this game, Velen can be frustrating, just take time to do side quests, trust me they are all a ton of fun, after that just enjoy, the main story is long, good but a bit straightforward classic fantasy. The side quests and side storylines are fantastic you are going to want to sink your teeth into as much side content as possible. Hearts of stone is a fantastic addition of story, with challenging boss fights and a great antagonist, blood wine would have been a whole other game for any other studio, fantastic main plot that still makes me wonder years later, and the best side quests in video games
The Witcher 3 is possibly my favorite game of all time, but I've never been one to replay games a whole lot (there's just too much that I want to try). This definitely changes things. Also I really love how you can genuinely tell how excited Jake is about specific things in these videos. For a channel with over 7 million subs, the fact that the personality and relatability has never been diluted is really a precious thing. Sorry Jake, this time, pizza's on ME.

I tried it couple years ago thought the combat was ehhhh especially compared to AC Odd which i was playing at the time. Maybe il give this a go again
I couldn’t agree more when it comes to replaying games when there’s so much else out there. Luckily I held off on the expansion packs so I’m ready to dive back in to those bad boys.
By far the best thing about this update is the optimization. I went from having my pc chug around 35-40 frames on medium settings, to enjoying medium-high settings at a respectable 50-60 frames! Now THAT'S a noticeable upgrade that improved both the look and feel of the game! Also love the updated camera angles. The game feels much more cinematic now. Currently 120 hours into the game and still have dozens of quests to do. What a fantastic value for a game!
For me it's a lot of the little tweaks that were made that makes the update amazing. Stamina not draining outside combat, picking herbs is instant and doesn't bring up a chest loot menu. And of the course the new hidden quest. THAT is top tier for sureskys
I immediately downloaded this ASAP and felt like I was playing it all over again for the first time. And I’ve sunk hundreds of hours into this game. Also can we talk about the huge improvement on load times? This just feels so well optimized and clean for the new gen. Hats off to CDPR.

@@NoName-ll2mp . On my Ps5, no. I'd much rather have the 60fps with a game like this where combat is heavily emphasized. I played all of The Witcher 2 back on Xbox 360 and it required tons of practice to get good at it due to the framerates.
So well optimized? Are you high ? I have a 3080ti and performance is worse. Especially with raytracing 35 -40 fps at 4k dlss quality with raytracing
I've only played it 476 hours, which are rookie numbers compared to some fans, but I'm glad I have another reason to replay it. One of the greatest games of all time.

I noticed that gray weather! I think it might be inspired by some of the lighting mods from Nexus. I think it looks fantastic and is perfect for just about every area of the game really. Awesome update.
A lot of the update is the best mods brought together in the game, the modders worked alongside cdpr
@@tuckerp2006 Yeah, it was a wise move by CDPR and cool of them to spread the love to the community. Too bad about the technical issues on PC though. So many big PC games this year launching with performance problems.
@d.o.t Because it is the MR. Launching with technical issues that get patched out not long after launch isn't the lowest low. Being forced to choose between 30fps or fidelity at less than ultra settings is the lowest low, lol. Also, mods.
At first I used the new camera angle for exploration and horseback, but I found myself switching back to the original camera distance because I found it easier to enjoy the scenery rather than being cropped in. Also the photo mode is not great. It's amazing being able to make nice compositions of the beautiful world but there isn't nearly enough adjustment settings for things like contrast. Despite that I'm absolutely loving the new update overall!
I played this game with my parents [skipped the romance part] before leaving my home country to pursue higher studies more than a year ago, I still remember those deep conversations with mom and dad [mostly dad] to how to play, trade, combat, skills, world, story and everything.... I miss this game and especially my golden time with them and I grew up playing elder scrolls and the Witcher series.... Love ❤️ to the hard working developers.

That's probably the best way to play this game. I personally didn't like Witcher 3, too easy and I hate the 'no brain' combat system. But yeah, it's really accessible and fun for some parents and the story is really good. The world is good and fun to explore. This kind of games can be a good way to spend time with family

ive tried playing it 4 times. all 4 i stopped because of other games and just got distracted. been wanting to play it but realised i needed to finish other games before i could play it. now I CAN FINALLY play a full playthrough,currently just staring at my gamelog so this gives me a chance to finish it

I never played the witcher before but everyone kept talking about how good it was. Waited for this next gen update and about 90 hours in and love it. I can't imagine how frustrating it was casting different signs before the quick cast feature they put in this update. Definitely keeps the combat fast-paced
I was never sold on it until years after and I gave it a chance, now it's one of my top 3 games of all time.

I held off a replay of this for at least a couple years hoping and waiting for this. Was definitely worth the wait. They nailed the next gen hardware
As someone who hasn't played any other version, and coming off playing Breathe of the wild as my point of reference, I was blown away by how fast the fast travel works. I imagine the SSDs in modern consoles are partially responsible for this, so I wonder if it's a large improvement over how the fast travel was before the next gen update.
It is, load times were pretty shit on the ps4 version lol. I mean they werent really any worse than other ps4 games but I could never go back.
Just today I wanted to reload an area so a barber I saved would spawn in town, so I just fast traveled somewhere and then back to the town I was in. On the ps5 version it was like 15 seconds, on the ps4 it would've been over a minute, if not more.
The lighting was amazing back on the base PS4, can't wait to see it improved on ps5

I recommend playing Witcher 2 first(probably want to watch a recap of Witcher 1 but not fully necessary) then play Witcher 3 and go to Witcher 1 remake when it comes out in a few years(I’m guessing 2026/2027 but idk I might be overestimating the time it takes to make it)
Witcher 1 (if you can stand the graphics) is good, and Witcher 2 is great too.

Witcher 3 is a game I put on a similar pedestal as Skyrim though I do think it's ever so slightly more linear with it's story telling and progression. You can still play Witcher 3 in a truly open world way but the main quest is much easier to follow naturally. Yes there are side quests and they can take up a good chunk of time but I find with Witcher 3 I tend to stick to the main storyline and not rack up quite as many side quests as Skyrim. That's not necessarily a bad thing as I do appreciate some guidance but I also appreciate how Skyrim really lets you go free with almost no handholding. Again this is not to say that Witcher 3 is hand holding; I just find it easier to naturally follow the main story of Witcher 3 than Skyrim.

I’ve played thousands and thousands of hours of this game. When the next gen update came, I figured it would look better, but wouldn’t be that different. But wow was I shocked, it looks sooo damn good, the new quick-cast for signs is great, and it’s so smooth and new feeling
I AM IN LOVE. This game feels so fresh with the update and I’m super glad to be able to go through it again with the overhaul.

i AM ABSOLUTELY LOVING IT. I got the ultrawide screen cutscene fix. playing 32:9 3840x1080 ultra no raytracing. I LOVE the new camera angle. I love the new sign casting. I feel like they upped the difficulty as well, maybe nerfed food? I LOVE not dying from small falls. Like I am seriously digging it. I cannot believe how good this game looks. It's been so long since it came out and Its world is second to NONE. nothing comes close. I love it. AND AND AND I have not yet played Blood and wine. I have the whole BaW dlc to do fresh. I'm so fucking happy. I thought it was going to be a minor update, and it kind of is, but it changes the game. The camera angle makes me feel like I'm more in the world. the landscape seems even more detailed. it's just perfect. i love this fucking game. I love it. as for console players, i hope it's better. i dont see how ray tracing is possible on console as i feel like framerate is by far the most important factor in making a game "look good"

Actually looks really impressive. Wasn't expecting this much of a leap. I never finished it originally, got about 80% in. It just never seems to end 😂 Amazing experience. I just dunno if I'll ever have the time to complete it, especially these days. But, I'll give it another go.

Funny it crashes every time I load this game since the update on steam deck !!! Have to run in dx11 and fsr 2.1 gets disabled!
Maybe I missed it in the video but if you have an updated version of the previous-gen Witcher 3 (ver. 4 on PS4), you could import your save data to the new gen and jump back where you left off. Great vids btw!
I’ll never forget my first play through. Some how encountered a bug that didn’t effect roach stamina bar lol. Did all the races right out the gate.
Been waiting for this next gen update since they announced it, super excited to jump back into it again, I cant even tell you how many playthroughs I've done on this game and each time it never seems to bore me ~

I may have missed it as I’m listening to this video at work. But I didn’t hear you mention the quick casting ! By far my favorite addition to the update. It makes casting smooth as butter and makes it easier to use every spell when applicable 🔥 other than that great video keep it up🤝
I tend to only run performance mode if the other is creating any lag hinderance to gameplay, or it doesn't make much difference in visuals. However, I got a Series X and a 4K TV so I could play games in full resolution with ray tracing, so graphics mode is usually standard for me.
Bought the base game for $3 a couple weeks ago on sale. Got the new update and it's amazing.
Definitely think about getting both expansions. They add so much to an already great game

I will play these games after finishing the books, which are awesome, by the way. One of the things that attract me the most from this update is the ability to remove the HUD during gameplay. If only the Assassin's Creed had that, it would make my photo shooting sessions easier.
How are you reading the books, I’ve got to the second boom and the translation just feels so annoying, it certainly was better in the native language

I got the witcher 3 abt a year ago when i first got my ps5, which is when CDPR announced the next-gen update, so i waited and i’m excited to finally experience the game in its entirety ! It’s always looked pretty good to me and this next-gen update takes it up a notch tbh it’s so gorgeous, especially in the forests like you said

It's been such a long time since I can say I've enjoyed a video game like I did playthrough the Witcher 3.
I don't recall a game that enjoyed the majority of storyline, characters, lore, systems & world design.
Missions and side missions were very well done.
I haven't had the chance to try it yet but I am going to set the combat and horseback to far away camera and everything else to new camera.
I bought the GOTY edition on sale a while back but never got round to playing it, so this update is definitely the motivation i needed. Graphics look amazing! Like a 2022 game.

Got it on the first day back in 2015, played it for well over 400 hours and completed everything… This brings me back to the greatest game ever created
As someone who started re-playing the ps4 version in the week before the update. It's absolutely night and day, it looks 100% better, the quick casting makes combat way more natural, and the close-up camera is great.

I'm just happy I once again have that craving to keep playing a game. I'm always excited to jump back on again after a session. That says alot considering how I haven't felt that way towards gaming in a while.
I've been playing Witcher 3 for 4-5 month and loved it and today I finished the main storyline and the side quests. Did the last quest while wanting for the update to download. I need to start game+ to really enjoy the updates.
For those wondering on PS5, yes there is a separate trophy list so you can get the platinum all over again 😵💫

This looks soooooo incredible! Can't wait to try this out. The game didn't hook me before which is crazy I know but it honestly looks best game ever made material with these changes
It took me a little bit to get into it, but that's because I kept getting stomped in combat, was too used to just hack and slash combat like Skyrim, but once I got that down, it's one of my favourite games ever.
You know it’s essentially the same gameplay loop, story, etc. Going from “didn’t hook me” to “best game ever made” is crazy
Try not just playing the game but getting invested into the story. Explore different dialouge opptions. Follow the barrons side quest. It is imo the best questline of any game by a mile
@@Skegfromcraigslist i have a lot of trouble sticking with games and getting used to the controls is all I meant. The atmosphere and stories I do love. The streamlines to the controls and improved graphics I think will push me to keep playing
Playing the upgrade on series X. I bought the game at release on PS4, finished it, and then completed New Game + once it was introduced. A few years later I picked it up on sale for my One X and never finished it. Multiple websites claimed the achievements reset, but they don't, the one's I earned on the old version carried over. I've also noticed that there's no sound effects when swords clash. When strolling through the woods on Roach, I don't hear the trees cracking and swaying in the wind like I used to either. I'm loving the smooth 60fps, but the movements when walking around or riding Roach feels clunkier than what I remember. I hope they follow up with another little patch or two to smooth those out. All of that said, still one of my favorite games, and I so happy CDPR gave me a reason to jump back in.

Stutters/frame drops during auto saves.
Some hard crashes and freezes.
The last gen version at 30 fps was a tough experience for me. I love my frames and having 60 on ps5 is a wish come true.
Great game, great update and I can recognize cdpr is trying to reconcile with gamers after cyberpunk 2077. I salute them.
Even with some of its glitches and crashes, I’m officially addicted to this game.

With that out of the way, I recently seen that the Witcher 3 had a free Next-Gen upgrade in the works so I ended up purchasing it for 10 bucks through Microsoft soft for Series X. Thought that was a huge steal especially considering the free upgrade would be included for no additional cost. After finishing Elden Ring, playing the base game fidelity was so poor I just couldn’t do it. Can’t wait to go home tonight and see how much better it plays. Thanks again Jake and Gameranx!
I've been wanting to replay this for a long time. With this update, I think now is the time. I'm excited for cross save because I have this on PS5 and PC. I just have to finish God of War first.
the footage from 3:50 to 4:40 looks sooo good, something about the lighting and the grass density just makes it look so much prettier than I remember

That's because they updated the lighting and PBR materials and completely redid the grass textures, draw distance and density. It looks amazing. Most of this stuff has been available as mods on PC for years, so it's great that console players can finally enjoy TW3 at its best. PC is still the premium option though since you can have the RT mode at 60 fps if you've got the juice.
I played the game recently on Series X and noticed it right away too. Looks way better.
the camera angle slightly left is for the feel of new games, like GOW, AC and Red dead 2
I bought this game after I watched s1 of the Netflix show in 2020 or so. I started and stopped several times since then. My main gripe was the load times. I picked up a ps5 and went back to the next gen update. Fast travel loads in only a few seconds. I blazed all the way from battle of kaer morhen to the end of blood and wine in a couple weeks. One of the greatest games of all time once they made it easier to play.
I'm definitely going to play this amazing game again one of my favourite games of all time

as someone who's only just started playing this past week, 32 hours so far. I didn't even know about the update, and when I played yesterday and noticed the new launcher and the changes from a "this wasn't here yesterday" perspective, I will say that the biggest feature I feel they added was 120+ fps support. So with a 3060 + i5-11600KF I can either get stable 120 fps on low-med settings 1080p or stable 1440p 60 FPS on ultra + RT (no shadows). Recommend trying the game out and playing with it if anyone has been avoiding it!

For the first time ever, I'm glad I didn't finish this game years ago. Time to enjoy this gem again.
In 2015 I bought myself this game for my birthday. Best present I ever gifted myself, and genuinely excited to jump back in.
This game is all about the atmosphere and a feeling you get while playing that really immerses you into the story and the world. That is why i think its one of the best games of all time(now improved with the looks), but if you can't feel it or you don't like fantasy or this type of games, i see why you would say its " overrated ". Otherwise, for the 99% of people is a must play!
I think people forget that it's a 7-8 year old game. Looks fantastic especially considering that.
I Love when they put out updates/upgrades to improve on + make a game better.
I am nota gamer, or a fan boy. I'm still playing a One X, + Mostly like Racing + open world shooters, but I did pick this up awhile back, due to the visuals, and reviews. I put a little bit of time into it, but set the controller down for a bit for awhile as I do with all games. I was looking forward to getting back to playing this game, but this makes me even more excited.

Played this game a few years ago, playing the upgraded version right now, will be playing this again in a few years. Love this game.

Here's my super important question about this upgrade: Do merchants empty their inventories of sold items any better than before?
In the original version, it was quite annoying that merchants would just pile up items you sold them forever. Sell too much stuff, and the merchant eventually has a hard time even opening up their interface due to all those items loading. And at least as far as I could tell back when I played it, not even mods solved the issue. So does the next gen version finally solve that merchant inventory problem?
Together with Mass Effect and Half Life I rate this as some of the best-in-class storytelling in gaming.
Plus, this game has a mini-game that is better than some other triple A games.
i agree, it is the best Triple A Card game, it even has a little open world RPG too
If you like story, FF14 online is another amazing choice. It's being looked as best JRPG in history with perhaps having the best antagonist in gaming.

Not just other triple A games, even full games that follow the same genre on android. I love Gwent as much if not more than Heartstone by blizzard.

New default movement controls are odd and the old “default” controls have a high deadzone which makes Geralt not walk sometimes. Otherwise looks amazing even on the Series S.
I encountered a bandit camp while going to the quest location, so I immediately got down from my horse I killed all of them, but when I went to release the prisoner I found an unsent letter that said that he (main bandit) is coming home and he has some money so their kids will go to sleep on a full stomach. I felt so bad about it.
And its the games brilliance that it made me feel this way about some random npc, there was no marker on that letter that you HAD to pick it up, it was my curiosity that made me want to loot everything and randomly found the letter.
Glad you guys are covering this update, I was really curious about whether I should get it on PC or to just stick to console

i mean. I prefer playing this with mouse and a keyboard but the haptic feedback for the ps controller seems good. but you can play this on pc with ps controller too so idk

If you have the hardware to run all the raytracing goodness at 4k and 60fps or above then pc all day. If not stick to console.

Normally not a fan of ray tracing due to only minor change in visual quality, but the improvement in Witcher 3 lighting and reflection with RT is extremely enjoyable, might well use RT if you have NVIDIA GPU and can sustain a reasonable framerate.
It really needs optimization though. Look at my channel for footage of my 3060Ti maintaining 70-100 fps in Metro Exodus Enhanced, an RT ONLY game, with infinite bounce RTGI and RT Reflections on Ultra Quality settings. Yet RTGI in the Witcher 3 next gen drops my fps from near 100 to like 40 lmao.
Having glitch issues since my update .. roach control is a big one that’s noticeable .. never had any glitches with this game ever till now .. hope they can clean some of this up.. fix the ray tracing as well
Just wanted to check something. I used to be able to get stamina regen upto 70 with the medium armor perk, with this update it only seems to go to 40. Has the OP 70 been patched or am i doing something wrong?
The better grass and the 60fps made this a completely new game.
Tried to play the Witcher last year and it was almost unplayable going back to that frame rate, but now im going for the platinum.

I played a little Witcher 3 a few years ago but started and are still playing other games . Was going to go back to it eventually but now it will look better and I'll play it sooner since it's updated. Sort of like a brand new game to me
The Pc version of the Graphical settings and overhaul just puts it to a new whole level. Finally some use for all these expensive hardwares.
They increased everything, vegetation density, crowd density, 4k texture resolution, overhauled character models for the main cast.
A lot of good stuff, for ex they bumped out the LOD thru the fucking roof and now you can clearly see castles, towns, anything outstanding and remarkable like a tower, you can see them clearly in the distance, finding sceneries where you're on a hill staring down into the plains of forests and rivers and you see 3-5 chimney smoke just coming out of distant villages and shacks .

Welp, time to put 100+ hours on a playthrough yet again, for like the 6th time xD This game is just amazing, never gets old for me!
Owned it for ages, never got round to it, very much looking forward to getting to it next year!

I completely prefer new camera angle over the original, but there is a flaw, when nekkers drowners or anything who roams in packs attack you just cant see all of it and incoming attacks from the back and if(i mean you should) you playing on the hardest that thing pops out straight away. Finished original one 2 times fully as much as possible with dlcs, but something new cheers me up and i now i am going trough it again now, amazing game.
Downloading right now, so psyched for this probably my favorite game of all time
