It always happens with consoles. Of course the PS4 and XB1 launched with better games but my original XB1's disk drive failed. Never buy a new console at launch unless your prepared to possibly have to buy a new one later on

I dont want to be that guy but... in my own humble opinion new horizons kind of sucked. It's ok if you dont agree with me but I just think that the game didnt add much to animal crossing and the stuff it did add was mostly expansions of new leaf features. There was so little content that I felt like I was done 5 hours in. I've played over 10 hours and i feel like I've just wasted my time on a grind. If you disagree that's ok but i think the game kind of sucked

Companies have Actually closed because piracy was an easier option sometimes less so these days but for smaller companies that hurts them... That being said I emulate old games but Nintendo spits on their legacy by not making it easy to play or buy the old library from their other consoles.

What I've learned from Nintendo products is that you never buy their consoles when they first come out. They always release a better version a few months later
Exenic That's what happened with the 3DS. and Nintendo's consoles always have problems the first year they come out. Remember how the Wii u was super slow at first? and now the blue screen, and the faulty left joycon, why does Nintendo always do this?!

While nintendo is successful now, in 20 years or so theyll be irrelevant if they dont get with the times and buff that hardware. They get damn near ALL of their 3rd party games 6-12 months after their competitors and their first party games have been hit or miss lately. No one is going to want 720p 20 fps in the next few years. Not all games play like this om the switch but a few do. I buy mostly first party games for my switch at this point

Gaming has halted after 3D, graphics and hardware are just side dishes. We yearn from a new platter to rebuild the interest for gaming. Hence, the Nintendo Switch, until I can play something like Dark Souls on the go, not a half ass smartphone version, no company will have my money.
But if I want hardware and power, I'll go PC. Fuck next gen consoles.

The only issue i have is that the games are a bit pricy
yea its one downside but if you buy for example Zelda for 59 $ you can sell it for 45$ so start is expensive but if you'll focus on cartridge you can complite a game and sell it.

I hate to disagree with gameranx, but I think the Switch is more than just for hardcore Nintendo fans. I've owned a 2DS (hardly use it) and a Wii (hardly use it anymore) I wouldn't call myself a "fanboy" and to top things off I've never played a Zelda game -- but this thing is impressive. I find myself using it a lot "switching" from console mode to handheld mode and even kick stand mode in a breeze and has no stutter "switching" modes what so ever. This thing is damn impressive. The 720p looks really good, it's a small screen so you can't even notice.
I'm a PC gamer (and you know how we hate consoles lmao) but what I like about the switch, from a console perspective, is that is more than just a console, it does things PC's, PS4s and Xbones can't. Instead of focusing on raw power in focuses on gameplay.

I picked one up, freakin love it! Being able to play Zelda anywhere is awesome. Also went to a concert with my dad and while we were waiting we pulled out snipper clips and started playing it. This thing is extremely underrated, and I think it is worth it. Especially with Splatoon 2, MK8 Deluxe, and Zelda. not to mention Binding of Isaac later this month, multi-player on it too. Not at all disappointed with my purchase.

graphics only really matter during the first 2 hours of game play anyways, its the gameplay itself that is what keeps people playing not the resolution

Graphic wise, framerate is what matters. As long as its stable and reasonable (at or above 30fps) standard. For this year and generation resolution does matter, too low of a resolution can be bad and annoying, with what the stand is, 720p is the minimum any game should run for todays standards.
Shovel Knight has some amazing graphics, no idea what you're talking about.
from an initial graphical fidelity look i mean people can easily overlook it compared to games that really push the limits like battlefield 1 for example which is what people circle jerk for when talking about when graphics matter
Whenever I've manage to play a game at a low resolution AND low framerate for two hours despite the fact many other great games without these cons are available to me, it's when I've wanted to give it a chance so badly I played long enough to get used to it. Getting used to it doesn't mean it's gotten better though. You can get used to pain, and it's rarely worth it.

I, for one, didn't regret it at all. As a person who loves playing with friends and family, the Wii U was the best choice for me at the time.
Sm4sh, Wii Party U, 3D World, Nintendo Land & Mario Kart ere some of the more notable.
Even in single player I enjoyed games like Bayonetta, Splatoon, WInd Waker etc.
Those games, Virtual Console, plus backwards compatibility made it seem like a blessing in my pint of view.
Just put Legend of Zelda Wind Waker on it and I'm sold.

I have a switch and it's been great. Me and my friend played zelda together by splitting up the joy cons and it was really fun. I haven't lost connection at all but it takes a long time to charge the switch and the joy-cons together if they're both close to dead. especially if you play zelda
Zelda is a single-player, though... Unless you mean your friend was using one joy con to control Link and you were using another at the same time? It would be kind of hard playing that, though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Interesting you all got switches. I went in to buy BotW for Wii U, asked about the Switch since I was curious and both stores I went to (Gamestop and a Ma and Pa shop) said they were sold out and on back order.
I realized about a year ago that having quality games is just so much better than playing at 4K and having the best graphics. Some people just take longer than I did to realize.
I am mostly concerned with selection with only 3 games in my intrest thus far and features when I am accustomed to having bluetooth for my earbuds/speakers,aac/mp4 support for my music,movies,tv shows, web browser and cross game chat with my playstation vita

glonik10 I'm a fan, but I don't plan on ordering a Switch. The ports, and initial games, are fucking lackluster. The only games that's somewhat notable are Breath Of The Wild, and Super Mario Odessy, since I've never planned on playing Zelda, and Odessy doesn't come out for 10 fucking months, I have no intentions of buying this console. There's just no way for me to justify purchasing one, because I don't plan on playing anything currently available.

You are free to move around even without a Nintendo Switch, mobility isn’t an ability granted to you buy buying the Switch, it merely enables you to bring games along with you. There’s only a select few AAA non-Nintendo exclusives that are present on the console which are downgraded versions sold at a greater price, doesn’t sound justifiable to me. You’re still paying more for downgrades games.

Thats one hell of a Nintendo Console Lineup. And frankly, the sheer ability to play anywhere is REALLY great, and is the Switchs biggest pro. It's not as great in handheld mode, but as someone who flies and takes Public Transit A LOT, its a lifesaver. I honestly wouldn't give it too much flak, it's ahead of it's time imo. I got a switch and I love it. Yet there are several issues I can't ignore. I have long fingers, so my fingers wrap around the controller grips more than most, and this is a big problem for me because with the joy con grip, it blocks my fingers at the bottom. Not only this, the sticks are super short on the joycons but they are easy to get used to. I've really only used the joycons in handheld and tabletop, and 85% of my Zelda play time has been docked w/pro controller. But should you buy it?
YES. I feel the switch is a great investment for any gamer with a stream of excellent games coming, but it does have some quirks.

I have a ps4 and you do have to pay to play online. With the Nintendo Switch it is more online with games like Black ops, Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 and Minecraft I don't mind paying as long as I will actually play online.
The point is that paid online service is a complete SCAM. Playstation only started it because they were so far ahead they could throw out any bullshit and still be on people's good sides.
Steam has always been free to use and still makes plenty of bank because it's simply a well designed and consumer friendly service.
I still don't mind I am still going to get this console and play it. I will still play on my ps4 as it has more games but you can play the switch on the go! The price for the online subscription is also half the price of sony's and microsofts.

Very likely. With the gamelibrary for it being shit for a long time I really don't see anyone but hardcore Nintendofans buying the thing. The rest wait for the end of the year when it could be cheaper and more games have been released/announced for it to make a judgement about getting the thing.
But I still won't expect much from the Switch. Mayby sales like Wii U had and depending on if Nintendo kills of 3DS mayby the handheld people will switch to Switch, but 3DS being what it is I don't see Nintendo killing it soon.
If they wanted to kill the 3ds they would have made the switch BC with it. Thing is now Nintendo has 3 consoles competing with each other, The Wii U will get killed off, but will the switch fair any better when it's overpriced and so are it's accessories, the 3ds is gonna hurt the switch. Not to mention the games taste awful...
First, game library isn't that crap if I remember correctly PS4 and Xbox One had 2-3 launch titles (got both on day one) the switch has 10 launch day titles with 40 games coming out later this year. I mean you have some big names in nintendo that were both on Wii U and 3DS that are being made onto the switch instead.
I'm not personally a hardcore nintendo fan but I did purchase this day one and I dont regret it in the slightest. I know many people on launch night who weren't nintendo fans picking it up and it also says volumes that worldwide its sold out until april and thats over 10 million consoles which is more than the Wii U ever sold. I know my local reseller had over 5000 preorders for a day one console.
And also, Overwatch is coming to the switch so... with that sort of portability overwatch fans might just buy it for that. Its pretty interesting what sort of demographic they are going for but still.

I owned a 3ds for a long time and loved it. When the switch came out I was skeptical, but when I went to my friends house I played it and I loved it.
I'm sorry but why do people always make a big deal out of screen resolution? 1080p and 720p are perfectly fine and good especially since it's a small device compared to PS5 and xbox series x. Heck I been playing Nintendo games my whole life and this is by far the best screen resolution we are getting, so why are people so obsessed with 4k and stuff. I just seriously don't get it. Like 1080p is already so clear and nice, is 4k really that much better? I don't think so.
I don't know either, but they say you need to experience 4k to understand. A few people have said to me that they will never go back to 1080p after seeing 4k
BotW looks like a hybrid of _Dark Souls_ and _Skyrim_ with a _Legend of Zelda_ paint job, which automatically grabs my interest.

Chicken Nuggets the Nintendo GameCube had lots of problems too. a good example would be the Lazer reader. recently I started cleaning my old GameCube because it had dust in it the size of fists. after reassembling it the disc reader wouldn't read any discs. this is because the disc reader is very fragile, a huge design flaw. even being very delicate with a q tip and Windex on the Lazer can ruin it. and the discs themselves didn't really account for wear and tear, I went to a nearby resurfacing store and they told me that you can't put them on a machine that resurfaces for more then 10 sec without being at risk of completely destroying the game. frankly I would rather them make the games available on the new hardware, much like how the estore allows you to buy classic NES games. except with GameCube games like Kirby air ride or FF Crystal Chronicles

About 2 days ago, I hated the Switch, I thought it was a silly console that I couldn't like less. Now? Shiiiit, I want one! I don't know how Nintendo do this to me! I always say, "I'm not interested in their new console, I've got a PlayStation/Xbox and PC, I'm not getting one!" Then, not very long after, I get one.

You won't regret it if you like Zelda which you probably will IMO the controllers feel great I actually prefer them over the dualshock 4 and it's been a while since a handheld console has come out instead of overpriced tablets with mobile games the biggest problem which doesn't bother me are some framedrops in zelda but they never happen to frequently or at important moments if the games don't interest you. you can wait I think it's worth it but if you do get one you need a screen protecter and if you dock it try to be 6 feet or less away from it I haven't had the Joycon issue myself because I stay close to the screen
so those are some things to keep in mind
also when you open the box it might look like one of the straps aren't in the box just look harder it's there trust me

I have had issues with my joycons staying connected, mainly the right one but it’s not that big of a deal as long as I don’t cover the IR sensor at the bottom. The main thing I wanted to point out is that the kickstand is very flimsy and I accidentally broke mine off. Luckily I was able to easily reattach it without much difficulty. Other than those 2 things, I don’t have anything else negative to say about it. I’m not disappointed

I did get my hands on one for Christmas ad I easily found out that the stand is easily breakable and it break off although I found out that Nintendo saw this and made the stand reattach able by two small knobs that pop right back into place so I think they had this problem during testing and made that easy.

REV it depends. It runs full Unreal Engine and has VULKAN API support, so who knows maybe a number of those games will barely be downgraded much and even you might see SWITCH special editions taking advantage of the unique features and/or Joycons

Same here. I am not becoming an "early adopter" simply to support Nintendo. They're not particularly deserving of my support, anyway. Especially with how crappy the launch for the Switch is.
Can't wait to see the next Switch model with a bundled game, though! Hopefully it'll come with Breath of the Wild or Super Mario Odyssey.
Also change the battery location so that I could replace the battery myself instead of having to send and pay Nintendo to fix it for me.

Bought the switch a week ago and I love the experience i've had with it. The only issue I have ran into the JoyCon's is ONE time i did not fully click the joycon into place and it interrupted my game once or twice until I finally figured it out. But I love the switch so far.
