    ऐसे कलाकारों के लिए कुछ कह सकूं इतनी हैसियत तो मेरी नहीं है। बस इतना कहना चाहता हूँ कि ये संगीत सुनकर ऐसा लगा जैसे किसी ने दुखते हुए घावों पर मरहम लगा दिया हो। हम धन्य हैं कि ऐसा दिव्य संगीत जिस भारत भूमि में पैदा हुआ, हम उसी में पैदा हुए हैं।

    Ustad Vilayat Khan's performance is transcendental. He is jolly good player! I was introduced to his record in 1978, while living and working in Norway. Once you start listing you don't feel like stopping! What a perfection.......

      Very well phrased, that emotion contained in a few seconds, would need pages to attempt expressing in words, but will fall short. There is a whole story behind those notes. You are astute to notice it :)

    I'm not a man to give any comment for these genious... but only one thing i like to say that i could not distinguish between the sound of tsbla played by Sir Jakir and the sound of S.i.t.a.r...played by Sir Vilayet....Pranam janai both to them...

      This is an wonderful presentation which I listened several times but this is an evergreen creation with mesmerizing effects which can only be created by the trio . Kudos to them . This rendition is a proof of immortality of Indian Classical Music.

      Do you know when and where this concert is/was? I am wondering if it was Spring of 1995 in Mumbai. I was at that concert - it was a celebration of 50 years of Taleen(?) by a rich industrialist who studied under Khan Sahib.

      He was scary. So totally in control at the same time, breaking into song, chatting with friends in the audience, telling them to listen to a particularly good bit, but always at the highest levels of musical expression. From time to time, he would get into a trance; at those times, to be in the audience was truly to be in heaven. He was a feature of the performances at Mahajati Sadan. Bengalis loved him; he was as much Bengali as anything else; he loved them back, almost literally, as those who know his personal life will readily agree.

    Vilayat Khan Saheb.What an artiste! Even today the notes on his sitar send tingles down my spine. He brought emotion into his performances as few were able to do.Ably supported by his son Shujat Khan whom I also admire.
