A very long time ago, I was given this album by a Fulbright Scholar from India. I was a struggling student working my way through university. I had a paper due the next day and a time crunch. I played this album, on LP, over and over all night. The next day, I turned in the paper and later learned I got an "A". While I would not recommend waiting until the last minute for anyone to do anything, I credit this music for my success.
This beautiful Music is indeed not for everyone its pretty Deep.... As many of you may know Ravi performed in UK at the concert for Bangladesh. On stage he and his musicians tuned up then paused a second. The audience applauded and cheered. Ravi said, “THANK YOU I HOPE YOU ENJOY THE MUSIC AS MUCH AS THE TUNING UP.” 😁😁
Unique combination nd mutual understanding in between two legends. However Pandit Shankar Ghosh or Swapan Choudhury or Aninda Chatterjee in tabla would have been a better choice.

I was privileged to be in a small room with Ravi Shankar at UCLA in 1968 he played a full raga for us and everytime I hear this music I go into a wonderful state...God bless.
Everything about this concert was stunning, the shear stamina and concentration of the 3 of them was ridiculous, I've listened to this since its release it never gets old
Three giant musicians playing together! Pundit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and Ustad Alla Rakha. Awesome, neat and crispy performance. May God rest their souls in peace.

However, he was encouraged to listen to some of his music and he did. During one musical piece, he was moved to profuse tears, whereupon he decided to do the film!
Lucky enough to see Khan many times back in the 70s in Delhi, along with other greats, Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Panalal Ghosh, Bismila Khan, Subramaniam and many a jugulbandi was heard. We lived by Humayun's. Music, India, eternity became one....

In memory of Baba Allauddin Khan within months of his grand departure to the Gandharvalok. This was once in a lifetime performance for it was in memory of the master who had brought them (Pandit Ravi Shankar and Ustad Ali Akbar Khan) both up into musical maturity from early innocence in the art.

Remember when we were all just brothers & sisters? Less wars, less conflict. So much more relaxing when people decide to handle their own lives. Who needs the 'class' of people who believe they have the right to tell us what to do? Let's just live in peace, keep on learning from good masters like these and enjoy Life. Why is such a simple program so difficult? As Jimi Hendrix once said, "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace." That is where I am going...
Right on, kuma--- Apparently God wants to have his little play with some people until they've had enough of it and see through it. Music such as this is a testimony to the higher dimensions that await. Hail to Jimi- a true ambassador of the coming beauty and expansion.

Furthermore, if you trace back Ali Akbar Khan's history, his great great grandfathers were Hindu Bramhins (top of the caste system in Hindus), but, they had to convert to Islam during the Islamic rule of Bengal. I absolutely love live recordings. The opening applause, the laudatory remarks and dedication at the beginning... Makes me feel like I'm right there in the auditorium, sharing the endlessness of the moment.
I had this album on tape years ago....and boy did I like it. I am glad to hear it again.

REST IN POWER RAVI SHANKAR
joyous and marvelous the great Masters Ravi Shankar and Ali Akbar Khan. I listened to this album over and over in my late teens and twenties.
This music seems to speak some part of the soul and is so relaxing.
