- the world of celebrity culture is curious to me. take kylie jenner for example. the ‘self made billionaire’ who is now (if you believe the reports) going broke. could it be true? could the reign of King Kylie really be over? failed brands and businesses is nothing new to the kardashian / jenner clan - i’ve never known one bunch of people to launch SO many brands, and have so many failures. but they just keep trying. it’s almost as though they’re launching as many brands as possible, in a desperate cash grab - before their fame begins to dwindle, which is almost certainly will. there’s rumours that Kylie has been living above her means, trying to maintain her luxurious lifestyle, and that in doing so - she is beginning to run out of cash, hence the recent launches of various businesses. even forbes were forced to write a scathing article about kylie and her team, after being mislead about how successful kylie’s businesses were. from fabricated tax returns, to inflated business numbers, something strange is going on here… but i’m just not sure what.

She never filed those returns, it is why it was not illegal, the real ones are not shown.

I’ve known/seen plenty of people who wear Skims, Good American, and who even drink 818. I even have some GA in my closet myself. But still never known anyone who uses Kylie Cosmetics or Kylie Skin or Kylie Swim. And I was in high school when those lip kits were at their biggest trend and she was in peak “King Kylie” era. Still never saw them in the makeup bags of the dozens of other girls I hung out with and got ready with through high school and college. Never believed the billionaire lie.
Kylie has no idea how much money she has, she earns, she loses, she owes. She spends extravagantly on a grand scale and she didn’t do it her mum did.

I can’t think of a single positive thing the Kardashian/Jenners have contributed to society. They have dominated popular culture for years and years and there is not one work of art, innovation, activism, or performance that feels like it was all worth it.
Other celebrities have created music that moved us, performed in roles that reflected us back to ourselves, or even participated in culture shifting activism. Can’t think of a single moment of substance from this clan in the last 17 years.

Just an idea. I think the reason why celebs switched from makeup brands to alcoholic beverages is because it's a lot less luxurious. You mentioned the economic crisis we all experience. Makeup is more of an extra expense for a lot of people thank something like an alcoholic drink. Normally that's not true, of course, but there are far more people with alcohol promblems than we think. And obviously spitzer is a much cheaper and affordable option, she can reach more people with that then with tequila for example.

Re: everyone selling drinks. My husband used to work for a booze corp in the factory. It costs pennies to make these drinks- the can it comes in is literally more expensive. Ive known people who worked in factory that made laundry detergent and said that the expensive brands were the same as the cheaper brands. Not sure how true that is but i wouldn't b surprised

In my country it's illegal to lie about earnings, basically because you are not giving transparent info to shareholders or any person who financially supports your company, so if this is true it would make such big of a legal problem
+ when you say you don't understand why she could lie about something like earnings, well, you are looking at her as a person and she (and her family) are a brand. there's no other way to it, they aren't just people and the info they let out comes after a layed out strategic marketing plan.
