Hey, thanks for a great video. Planning on updating my drone and was gonna choose between the Air 2S, Air 3, and mini 4 pro. I think I can now forget about the Air 2 - mostly for the night mode on the others. Also great to see videos in this post of the city I was born and raised in!
As of yesterday evening, DJI released an update for the RC Pro for compatibility with the Air 3!!!. Great video, new sub.

Hi Terry. On my Air 2s when I am doing video and turning different directions at times I pickup my blades on the left or right side that shows up on my video. Is this issue solved with the Air 3?

I changed air3 from air2s. I'm very satisfied so I'm using it well especially telephoto lens and longer flight time
I have owned all the Air series drones and thought they could not better the Air 2s and was blown away with the 1 inch sensor and had feelings about the smaller sensor like many people. I sold my Air 2s when I bought the Mavic 3 Classic and ordered the Air 3 straight after the DJI launch. Apart from the lower resolution from 5k to 4k the quality is fantastic , because of rules in the uk the signal strength has been reduced but Ive never lost signal but the signal bars went from white to orange and brought the drone back as it was my first flight. It is a great drone to combine forces withe Mavic 3 Classic. good review Bro.
I'm curious from a filmmaker perspective in a niche category, how do the two compare when shooting 10-bit dlog/hlg in terms of how much you can pull and manipulate in post without losing information (such as thru Davinci Resolve), as opposed to the pre-baked quality out of the drone?
From surveying n mapping perspective which of these two drone can best handle surviving
@@kostouch5496 Air 3 doesn't have an SDK released by DJI yet, so presently you can't use mapping/etc apps or any third party apps with it until DJI does.
The Air 2S can use multiple options including dronelink and dronedeploy.

Those intro’s and little bits here and there are just getting better and better - looks like you’re having loads of fun making those :) Audio might feel really tricky to understand at first, until you realize it’s basically the same as video: get a strong signal/good lighting, manipulate it to put focus on certain aspects of the audio/video, just different tools doing the same :)

I think you are spot on with your assessment. I didn't get the Air 2s, I had the Air 2 though. The only thing I've noticed, the Air 3 is way more sensitive on the stick input. Way easy to overshoot the shot. But it is a beast, that is for sure!! Excellent comparison!!
You can adjust sensitivity in settings, should not be a problem as you indicated.

Most of all, I like the Air2s's wide 22mm FOV. It just looks fantastic. I like that it has he forced simplicity of a single camera. Had the Air 3 been of the same form factor as the Air 2 and 2s, I would have jumped on it. Wathing Harmen Hoek videos, i am inspired by the portability. And, about to be sailing in Croatia, I am not as worried about crashing the Air 2s into water as I woud be the Air 3.
I currently use the Air 2S and the crop in 4k60, plus locked out intelligent flight modes in 4k60 is kind of a dealbreaker for me at this point. Does the Air 3 have a crop and are you able to use flight modes like orbital, active track in 4k60?
Wow, when you showed the low light shots of the Air 3 vs. Air 2S! You could really tell hope much more light the Air 3 sensor is gathering and so much cleaner!
I was skeptical about the 48Mb photo mode on the Air 3, but you again showed a fantastic example on how the Air 3 is better! The 40 minute flight time would be wonderful when taking hyperlapses ❤

I would consider getting the air 3, but having trouble getting past the lack of autonomous flying with drone deploy, or Map Pilot Pro type software. Dji wanting you to get there enterprise series!

Upgraded from air2s to air3 . Only issues I’ve found is the fly more combo setup is more bulky than the old air 2s combo plus its missing a charging block!
Another important thing to discuss will dji release the sdk for air3 ? Its released for air 2s that gives some advantages if you want for example 3d mapping.
Just Got the air 2s used for 500. Works perfect. I couldn't pass a deal like this. Great vid.

Great review! Definitely, the air 3 is an upgrade over the air 2S, in pretty much every way. That being said, camera is king and, while the air 3 is better, I don’t think that difference is that significant for me.
I shoot almost everything in 5.4K so I can reframe if I need in post. For me, I would probably rather go Mavic 3Pro, for that for that 4/3 sensor, and all the other bells and whistles that the air 3 got from it.

Valid! 5.4k is a big deal for a lot of people for SURE! That’s why I mentioned it so many times
1/1.3" is .769........3", or a little over 3/4" of an inch. I hear people call it 1/3" sensor all the time. It's fairly close in size to the Air 3 sensor, which explains the performance.
Quite fair comparison, but you are not mentioning with low light (but still day), 48Mp mode in Air3 is adding significant noise to the pictures and creating artifacts and wrong colors. IMHO Air2s for photos is still preferable overall apart from night shooting.
Air 3 in good light with 48 mp are better than air 2s. Air 3 low light and night mode in 12 mp is better than Air 2s. The only way the Air 2s would be better is if you choose 12mp during strong light vs the Air 2s in strong light.

Do you have any evidence the Air3 sensor is different from the Mini3Pro one? It is not reported anywhere in the datasheet.

Air 2s is all the drone most people would need. It's been rock solid.

Not really they're about the same in their own ways. Those air 2 and mini 2 was a unique slick look that's still not outdated for sure. The mini 3 and 4 is hideous.
Great detailed review and comparison of the DJI Air 2S and the newest DJI Air 3, mate! I really needed to hear that the tracking features and mastershots are still working even on 4K/60. Thanks for including that! You just forgot to include the battery pack feature where if you already used the three of them, the batteries can intelligently transfer their battery power to the one that has the most power left in it and be usable again for another flight. In most ways, yes. The m2p has an adjustable aperture which is HUGE
No air 3 vs standard m3
The decision for me was actually quite easy. I had (emphasis on had) an Air 2S for about a year until I lost mine on vacation last year. I made a catastrophic mistake totally my fault and crashed into a Georgia pine on the side of a mountain. I couldn’t even get to the spot where it crashed. To this day I am not sure if it fell or it’s still stuck in that pine tree. So since I just got my tax return I decided to get an Air 3 instead of just replacing my Air 2S. I liked the idea of better transmission for longer distances, the 3X optical camera, more battery life, and especially 360 obstacle avoidance. The Air 2S was a great drone and is now a much cheaper option if price is your main concern. But for me I’m happy with my decision to upgrade to an Air 3.
Since the Air 2S is compatible with the RC Pro controller, I'm not upgrading any time soon. Plus its smaller, and it shoots 5.4K video, which is what I do with a drone , shoot video. Plus the RC Pro has a 1000 nit screen. I rather have the 1000 nit screen than, two cameras.
Air 3 also has a heat sink with a built in fan. I live in alabama and july is so hot here u almost cant fly past noon till the sun goes down with most drones.
I totally disagree. The first Air3 I sent back as there was heaps of noise in the raw images. And chromatic aberration is off the scale. Worst with 48meg images. Before the replacement drone came I had a call from DJI. They informed me that they were having problems with images in raw. Now if your not knowing what raw is Google it. DJI did say they are working on it and hope to have it fixed. There are lots of other Photographers like myself who are peed off with the results they are getting. I ended up purchasing Topaz denoise just to get rid of the noise. Let me remind you that this happens with still images. I noticed your test was conducted in jpeg. Jpeg, the drone will apply its own noise reduction, but the dynamic range is a lot less. So I hope you do a test with raw images and see for yourself the difference. Otherwise, it's a great video.
Good morning! Based on the presentation that you gave on the DJI Air 3, I anticipate purchasing it within the next week or so. You did an outstanding job articulating what Air 3 can and cannot do. I always enjoy your expertise without all of the unnecessary hype. The drone has what I believe will make some amazing adventures for me along with my Mini 3 Pro. Unrelated to the drone, it is just so nice to hear commentary without the cussing and filthy language. I appreciate that you recognize that you have viewers that can understand what you say without the expletives. Keep it up.
I fly the Air2S at this moment. Next year the new EU rules will applied to drones and that might be the moment to go for the Air 3(S
I was on the fence waiting for the C1 retro marking for the Air2s.
Since I clearly understood it will never arrive I bought the Air3 and it has been a great choice.
Maybe in a year we will see an Air3s, but in one year I can fly more than 1000 km on my drone, so if needed I'll upgrade again.
Around the time I got my 2S the 3 was not available yet. Had I know I had waited. No regrets. I don't fly above people and buildings.
C1 will be there end of January for the Air 2s

RC Pro is obsolete now. It’s O3 tech and the next gen is O4. I own this remote and had to buy the new RC2. Frustrating not to mention the new goggles v2 and motion control 2 to fly Air 3 with.

I honestly think the AIR2s wins in picture quality. The image from the AIR 3 looks so blocky and sharpened - kinda reminds me of the look the og Mavic had - you can especially see that on the rocks or the trees.
Another reviewer, pilot institute, showed how the air3 12mp photos are better in low light and the 48 mp photos are better in good light. Clearly the Air 3 48mp are better than the Air 2s.
I pick up a brand new air 2s (flymore), one charge on all 3 batteries for 450.00 back in Feb.
I own 5 DJI drones. I love my AIR 2s, that being said, I just ordered the AIR 3 fly more combo with regular controller, since I own a Mini 4 Pro with RC 2 Controller, & can use the RC 2, on both my Mini 4 Pro & AIR 3. DJI did an update, & you can now use the RC Controller, with the AIR 2s. I also bought the Integra goggles and Motion 2 Combo for FPV flying, with my Mini 3 Pro, Mini 4 Pro, & AIR 3 . DJI hands down, makes the best consumer drones. I wish Autel wasn't getting out of the consumer drone market, because they were catching up to DJI.

Honestly, when it comes to camera theres nothing about the air 3 that takes it besides the low light imaging.
The aircraft is better and longer lasting and all that so that's a big advantage but when you can pick up an air 2s for $500-$800 if money is an issue id definitely go for the 2s

Air 2 got smaller sensor than air 2s and now air 3 got smaller sensor than upcoming air 3s or air 3 pro.
Dji should have produced the 2S with same type of camera it has, but with electronic variable aperture. Also with a battery durability of 45 min. And ocusync 4. It is basically the only middle size drone, and that is attractive.
There is something special about the color science on the Air 2S for me. Haven’t tried the Air 3 yet, but i upgraded to the Mavic 3 and colors are awful, both in photo and video
The Mavic 3 colors are awful? Not trying to be funny but there has got to be something wrong somewhere in your workflow. The Mavic 3 colors especially out of the Main camera are breathtaking! I’ve had them all, Mavic 3 wins hands down for me when it comes to color reproduction and image quality

Great Video but… Maybe it’s just me but I think the clarity on the Air2 s is a lot better. The background is more sharper too. The one inch sensor is a much better choice when it comes to capturing details.

Are you saying a 1/3 inch sensor will capture as much as a 1 inch sensor. The details I referenced are due to the ability to capture more light or information. The 12/48 MP is the same CMOS that was in the Air 2 just a different lens set up. A one inch sensor can be cropped a lot more with better detail than a 1/3 sensor. This is not my opinion it is fact. My opinion is the Air 2s has a better image other than the night shots where the iOS is my more capable in the Air 3. Not sure why DJI is reusing the 12/48 MP sensor instead of going bigger but the fanboys will keep buying regardless of what they make.
@@BadWolf67 I hear you, I certainly could be wrong regarding the sensor providing more light vs clarity, thinking the lens brings clarity much like a pair of glasses brings clarity to ones own vision, vs a sensor which picks up light. Could be wrong about that. That aside, the difference in the sensor size between the two drones may not be the only factor in its ability to capture a better image. I believe the sensor in the Air 3 may be of a different technology as compared to the Air 2s which may allow it to do a better job despite being smaller? But like a lot of things, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, you may see things different than me. Anyhoo, I'm droning on. Best to you sir, God speed.
