Just a heads up great video btw but your slide says the air2s has a 1.8 aperture but it’s actually a 2.8 aperture.
Great rundown of 2 great drones. While every drone company in Shenzen (except ZeroZero Robotics) was cloning Mini/Mavic form factor, DJI decided "we created the form factor, so we can break from it"
And the form follows function look is proof.
Some serious points in its favor:
JUST LOOK at the sensor sizes by surface area, a much easier measurement than 1/1.3 -based on what diameter 1950's TV camera vacuum tube it would fit inside:

While its a smaller sensor than Air 2S, it's quad Bayer, and it includes dual native ISO (two conversion gain modes), supports tone-mapped HDR footage (greater range squeezed into an SDR space) and is capable of capturing both 12MP and 48MP images.
Mini 3 can capture H.264 and H.265 video up to 150 Mbps (up from 100 Mbps on the mini 2). Slow-motion capture is done in either 4K@60fps or 1080@120fps.
We have 60° upwards gimbal- not even fully utilized yet. Portrait mode. Every Autonomous flight mode on Air 2S is available on Mini 3.
While not available in UK/EU, we have 47 min. rated batteries, O3, and the quietest Drone in DJI History
THAT IS A LOT TO RECOMMEND DJI MINI 3 PRO. It's also took the title of homliest drone from Air 2S. But every millimeter is form follows function.
Only flown my M3P a couple of times so far but I’m very very impressed.
For someone like myself who’s using it on top of mountains or long hikes there’s really only one choice. The saving in space and weight, with as far as I can see no real downsides (aside maybe real strong winds) makes it a no brainer 👌🏼

ONE THING WORTH MENTIONING
the air 2s does not become as hot as the mini 3 pro because well the fan
and the crops on the air 2s are quick release vs the screws on the mini 3
But other than that........
Just come back from holiday in Scotland,, I have a mini 2 and an Air 2S. Because of the high winds I experienced my mini 2 never came out of the bag, it would have been blown away for sure, even the Air 2s struggled at times but wow does it ever handle high winds well, very impressed with it.
Air2S for me. I own the Air2S and the Mini2, and tried the Mini3. Mini 3 is a great drone however I tend to fly in more windy environments and while they have the same max wind speed (level 5) there is just no comparison. The heavier Air2s and faster top speeds not only are more stable but has the extra power when you need to overcome wind resistance when returning home. The other thing is the range, while they both have O3 the Air2S has double the transmitters and receiving antennas. The Mini 3 is a 1T2R antenna setup while the Air2S is a 2T4R

Thanks. I own a mini 2, love it but as I live in Northern Scotland I often find many days that I want to fly I can not due to strong winds. How much better is the 2s in strong winds? Im not talking storms but just the usual Scottish winds while out on the hills.
@@spacehopper77 Don't be silly mate, I own the mini2 and it's as good in wind on sport and normal modes as my Fimi X8se 2020 drones were in higher wind. Mostly Its all in the head man, fly her she'll be fine.

Great Info! I chose the Air 2 (MA2) after the Air 2S came out just because of the price and I do not regret it. However, after getting my Part 107 and flying the MA2 I was so hooked, I went and purchased the Mini 3 Pro (delivered yesterday) with 2 Fly more + kits because of the features. Just flying in my living room shows me the Mini 3 Pro will be my main go to drone. I am inching to get out and fly that little bugger... Likely will later this afternoon!
How does the M3P compare to the MA2 a few months later? I have the MA2 and am wondering if I should “upgrade” as a real estate photographer 😊
You skipped over the TOP SENSORS that that Air 2S has that the mini 3 is missing. I was on the fence with all the hype around the mini 3 pro. But ultimately I chose the Air 2S. More stable in the wind, faster speeds, more collision detection sensor, 5.4K video which gives me some room to crop in and still be at 4K. Plus I think the D-Log is still better than the Cine-Log even though they are both 10 bit. And something I really didn't think was a big deal but turned out to be really helpful was the ADS aircraft detection. It really helps if you live in a city like I do. I hate vertical video, amateur hour so purposely trying to film that way is not feature to me. I am not a TicTocker so I digress. Live in the U.S. so size of drone is really a non issue. 5 dollars to register, other than that the rules are the same across the board for most drones, rules not based on weight.
I agree totally. Also the Air 2s has a landing light. I fly at night a lot and that landing light really helps. Also there's no cooling fan on mini 3.. The Air 2s just feels like quality, it feels solid.
You make good points. A lot of people think that not needing to register a drone means you don't have to abide by the rules in place for drones. You do.
This is a hype video. Trying to sell it with his Amazon link. 2s is better than the 3 pro. Marginally yes , but watching this video you’d think the 3pro wins across the board. Not even close.

Nice video! There are also some other considerations. If you fly commercially, your vlos is better with the air 2s. If you have a scheduled flight and the wind is terrible on that day, the air 2s gives you a little more security. Also I have a question is there an excellent fast charger for use in a car in between jobs while driving?

Great video! Thank you for posting! The only other considerations I have are drone noise and drone range. From my understanding, the Mini 3 Pro is quieter than the Air2s however has less range possibly due to the fact that it does not have the antennae structure of the 2S.

Just watched, and as always you give an honest, clear and concise explanation on both drones. And thanks to that analysis I have finally made up my mind. I'm going to trade up my mini 2 and invest in the mini 3. Weighing everything up, it's the right way to go. And I can't solely base my decision on wimd resistance. Especially when the mini 3 handles itself better than the mini 2. The mini 3 has alot going for it, and is on par with the bigger drones. So I can't thank you enough for everything you do, bringinning us all the best in tech and drones. Nice comparison. I think also the build quality of the air2s is worth mentioning. I crashed mine earlier in the year from a good hight and nothing broke. I literally just needed to clean it. I don't own a mini 3 but for it to be that lightweight, it may not last as long or survive a big hit. If you have insurance then no problem but I can't get it here where I live, so for me the air2s is the best one still.

@@NOBODY-sx4cj I get 20 to 25 mins flights. I have never flows further than 3km with it. At that distance signal was fine but I didn't need to go further although it probably could have.

I agree with you! These 2 are both great drones to have but relative to the Air2S, the Mini 3 Pro for me has a bigger value for money! Some people are not totally particular about the camera specs and are more after the whole experience of flying a smart drone and playing with its tech features. That's where the Mini 3 Pro shines the most.
Other advantage for the Mini 3 Pro esp in the UK. Sub 250g isn't within the transitional drone class so remains legacy. Air2S is a transitional legacy drone so goes A3 only at the end of the period meaning you'd need the GVC and OA to fly outside of A3 after that regardless of whether you have an A2CoC.
@10:12 does that RC remote do screen recording? Whenever I use my phone on a Drone Remote I screen record my flight.

The pricing slide at 10:54 is confusing because it has a mixture of pounds and dollars. Also the Air 2S kit (at least in the US) comes with the older smart controller, not the newer RC Pro. There was a brief period earlier this year when they were including the RC Pro in the bundle (for $1749) but I don't believe that is available any more. If you do know where to get an Air 2S + RC Pro for $1499 please post a link!

Great video as always Darren. I have both and find still that the AIR 2S is better, especially for windy days. If i didnt have one though i would agree M3P is the way to go especially in the uk. I could tell the difference on them videos too haha. Keep up the good work
Casual flyers would like the Mini 3Pro more for sure! The RC controller and the drone's weight adds to its convenience . Plus the drone is easy to bring to holidays and vacations too
My new favorite thing to do with my DJI mini 3 is to do hyperlapse videos. Yesterday that love almost cost me my drone. I made 3 significant mistakes in this order: 1st I flew my drone when the temperature was at 104 degrees. 2nd I flew two fairly long hyperlapses (15 seconds and 10 seconds one after the other. 3rd I did it over a lake. About 200 pictures into the second with signal strong and 40 battery I suddenly got a screen that turned red with an overheat forced landing message and the drone began to drop towards the middle of the lake. My screen recording shows I came within 3 feet of the water before I was able to get it to start climbing and made the shore before it landed with me still pushing forward on the left stick.
Watching my screen recording I noticed an x next to the forced landing. Do you think if I had pressed it the forced landing would have stopped. Or was it coming down anyways.

Mini 3 photos have distortion at the edges where objects appear to lean inwards. Does the Air 2S have this distortion in its photographs? Great video BTW And I do love my mini 3 pro, it's a great drone

Weight is not an issue where I’m from but like you said if I wanna take it anywhere it is easier if it’s under 250g. I really love the mini series and the mini 3 is a powerhouse. Hiiii nice video again. I have question and a lot of people can''t answer him hope you can! Every time when I use my Mini 3 pro with RC controller with display I touch on the screen for focus.. but automatically the focus changed to the middle and you see a new focus square in the middle of the screen. .. can I change this somewhere in the settings to hold the focus where I touch without automatically changing it to the middle? Its very frustrating because I can see on the display the focus is not on the point anymore where I want to be the focus is.

Darren, where can you get the Air 2s RC PRO KIT for $1499?, only listings I've seen are with the smart controller not the RC Pro controller, plus Dji are not selling the Air 2s drone kit with the smart controller now as the smart controller has been discontinued, Dji don't advertise the Air 2s with the RC Pro controller on their global web sites.

I have the Mavic 2 Zoom and love it. I'm thinking about the Mini 3 Pro for hand landing and launching as well as better active track. I also love the 1.7 aperture. The Mavic 2 is just too big for me to feel safe hand launching and landing.

Really torn between these two still. I want to be able to do videos at night which is why the mini 3 pro aperture sounds great, but I am worried about wind in my area making it not stable. Also the portrait mode on the mini 3 is ideal for me as my goal is to publish to shorts and Instagram reels, and not have to worry about the cropping area on the air 2S.

i have em both, and one key point for travelling with them is the loudness ... the Mini 3 is MUCH quieter than the Air 2S, wich i feel to be a big thing on peoples reactions ...
the other thing is the gimbal angle of 60° on the Mini 3 vs 20° on the Air 2S ... gave me some pretty nice footage 😊
although i'm no tiktogramming social vlogger, i like the portrait mode of the Mini 3 for landscape pano, which i sometimes do with manual shot single fotos, that i mount together on the computer 😊 if the scene is worth of all that work 😂

I would buy the DJI Air2S for the following reasons.
1. The Air2s can carry a lot more weight without issues so adding accessories is no problem. EG carrying a 360 camera.
2. I need the speed and power for use on boats on a windy day.
3. Because the Air2S has more power it can use the insta360 Sphere, which is amazing!
4. The AIR2S can turn its camera sideways which means it dose not require side sensors, because it can travel forwards while looking to the side.
5. The Air2S can be modified simply to increase range with both controllers.
6. The Air2S has double the transmitters and receiving antennas
Looking at buying the mini3 pro and the fly more pack.... I'm going to use this for leisure and possibly on the golf course..... will this future proof me just for what I want. Not looking g for business use

To replace my 2,5yo Mini1 I bought the Mini3 Pro with DJI RC and FMK the day it was launched. Up to now I haven't had any problem with it.
I didn't upgrade from the Mini1 to the Mini2 because the upgrade wasn't that much for me to buy another drone but the upgrade to the Mini3 Pro worth the change.
I believe the Air 2s has a slight better camera and is more powerful. It is the best drone for a hobbyist if you don't have to deal with the weight restrictions (for example in the US).
If the weight restrictions are taken in account the Mini3 Pro is the best drone.
I want my drone to travel and because of this I needed a sub250gr drone. Having chosen the Mini3 pro was a no brainer.
In September I will travel to the Dominican Republic and I can take my Mini3 Pro without any complication. To take a drone over 250gr you need to apply to the Aviation Authority and go through a lot of red tape without knowing if you are allowed to fly it.
In Mexico you can only fly for hobby with a sub250gr drone, you can fly a heavier drone professionally but you need to go through approval of the Aviation Authority. In Canada I believe that you can fly a sub25gr drone as foreigner but not a heavier drone.
AIR2s seems to have a better Shadow detail because of bigger pixels. Is it not?
Awesome comparison. Technically there is a difference although negligible on a bigger screen, but when you view it on a mobile device it's identical.

Another awesome video Darren, wow thats interesting about what you said about taking the mini 3 pro to turkey, never knew you was allowed to fly there, just a question though, i noticed you flew in blackpool on a night, did you need special permission to fly your drone there? i heard they have a policy of no drone flying there but not sure if thats true as i saw you do it in your videos.
I have both. I fly the 2S with the RC pro, and for me that's the set up I'd have. Don't get me wrong the mini 3 is bloody close, love it

I lost my Air 2S a few weeks ago, and have been on the fence about replacing it. I don't do much commercial work - mainly just social postings, but I did like the quality I had. I'm worried that the camera on the Mini 3 is actually 12 mp, and not a true 48. I still have all the fly-more stuff from the Air 2S, but am not comfortable buying a brand new one when it's been out for over a year now. It's a tough call!

Sorry to hear that Jeff. I would honestly wait as they will announce the AIr 3 pretty soon. The mini 3 is great but it has its limitations in flight that the Air 2 S doesn't have. Even in low wind you can see it in the footage compared to the heavier drone. If portability hasn't became an issue for you I would wait. Range and battery times have been overstated on the Mini 3 by DJI too. Real world it is solid up to 1.8km and not the 8km advertised pre launch and 30 mins battery is more like a useable 20 mins. Its not the distance but more the strength of signal. The antennas on the Mini 3 are non existent compared to the Air 2S and the DJI RC range is garbage on top of that. The Air 3 is scheduled for this half of the year but expect another 200 quid more expensive than the Air 2S.
@@gbkiller007 I just bought a new Air 2S fly-more combo, as it's being sold right now for the same price as the base drone. I know it will probably be obsolete in a few months, but it will always be a better camera than the Mini 3. I plan to get one of those as well over the next few months, but I still have all of my batteries and accessories for the Air 2S, so now I'll have more than enough. I can't go months without a drone!
Did you lost it in the water? Ive lost mine taking off from a boat and it hit the flag of the boat.. and sunk to the deeply 20 meter bottom.
@@calambria100 I lost it in the woods. I looked for it for a long while, but it was too dense and probably up in the trees somewhere. I had the RTH too low and it disconnected and got stuck in front of the trees.
got the Air2s but just ordered the mini3pro the other say. I think I'm going to keep both. 😊

You are very positive about M3P. You were one of those who inspired me to buy this drone. And I’m quite happy about it.
But it seems that Mini 3 Pro has some cons.
There is no active cooling. I saw a comment that it turned off 3 times during updates because of overheating. I had the same situation but I was sure that it was meant to be for the updating. Now I'm a little uneasy about this situation 😅.
Some people say that it’s wind resistance is not so good either. For me it seemed that Air 2 was stronger in windy conditions. And I’m not sure that range issue was finally solved with new updates.
Hope that my decision wasn’t raw. Anyway, my Air 2, as you mentioned, is not allowed to fly in many countries and it’s not a lot of fun to take these risks)
Yes i can tell the difference its the colour ...in the grass is more over sat and crushed in the mini the 2s look more flat easy fix... i think the night time is more interesting but who is flying at night?
Hi mate i have a MINI 2 that i use for Property Aerial shots and wondered should i get the mini 3? Mini 2 is ok but wondering if loads better?

If it's only about the image quality and camera performance, the Air2S would be like the obvious choice. But it's the F1.7 aperture of the Mini 3 Pro that makes the drone worth taking a second-look!

did not get the mini 3 pro instead, I went for the DJI FPV drone. .happy with my Sunday slow driver Air2s/RC Pro fly more and the adrenalin rush/responsiveness I get from the DJI FPV. .Priceless.. both these drone offer me a different types of video shooting scenario.
Air2S paired with the App Litchi is awesome. Something which the Mini 3 Pro doesn't support yet.
In the USA to fly the mini 3 you wouldn’t have to register it as long as you used the stock sized battery. The extended battery would push it into the weight it would need to be registered. If you use it in a commercial application (receive something of monetary value. Like CZcams monetization, etc.) it would need to be registered regardless. I only bring this up as you showed something about the Part 107 (USA Commercial Drone License)
Thanks for posting this video but I'm still undecided. On one of your slides you say that the Air 2S can be purchased with the RC Pro. However, I can't find that configuration for sale. DJI does show an option with the Smart Controller which is the older controller, not the RC Pro. If there is an option to buy the Air 2S with the RC Pro, can you please tell me where i=I can find it. Thanks!

Thanks once again. Very clear. I’ve got a Mini 2 and would love a Mini 3 pro for the video screen ( I have terrible trouble in bright sunlight) and vertical shooting - but I’d want a reasonable price for my Mini 2 Flymore - which is still intact. Decisions, decisions!!! I wish I’d waited!!! 😤😢😭
These are just the camera comparison. While it is nice but can you compare something such as
+ Maximum distance it can go (not reply on the how far the the remote can transmit because of O3)
+ Maximum flight time (not hovering but during actual flight).
As for me as an engineer, I prefer Air 2S for now since the SDK has been released, but once the SDK for Mini3 has been released, I will get the Mini 3 due to extended battery life.

Now you can use the RC Controller with Air2s too. But the problem is that DJI will not update Air2s for C-Class standard at the moment. Then you can fly in A3 area only, means 150m away from urban area from 01.01.2024. I asked DJI and they told me that no further C-Class Update or Drone will be released this year. Thus I'm thinking to sell my Air2s and go to Mavic Classic, because I have every day wind if I fly...
The mini 3 pro actually just has a 12mp sensor but the software makes it into 48. People say that the 20 mp real sensor on the air 2s is a little bit better but its not a big difference.
Air 2s photos > mp3. Honestly it’s not that close

In Europe you should get fly id and registration on both this drones.
I have both and there is a noticeable difference and the air2s wins. Especially with photos. Wind stability goes to the air2s as well. And for professional work, I use the air2s. The mini 3 is a good drone but the Air2s is just better and everyone knows it.

I started my drone flying a few months ago and I’m lucky to have both drones mentioned and I fly them both equally. I personally feel the Air 2S does take better images over the Mini 3 Pro but the M3P, I find, is more stable at very low speeds where you need to make subtle adjusts to yaw, descent, etc. The Air 2S is quite jumpy at low speed work. From a controller point of view the RC Pro you can buy for the Air 2S is a lot more feature rich, incredible build quality over the RC for the M3P and has a much brighter screen. Overall, given the M3P coming in at sub 250g this is the one I’d buy if I had to choose one.
As you know you can adjust the stick movement sensitivity; or change the frame rate in post. I always shoot 50 fps with this in mind to get smoothness and produce on a 25 fps timeline (Davinci Resolve)
I must look into DR one day. So much to learn.
Looking for your and others take on this: IF DJI does an update eventually to allow the A2S to be flown with the Mini 3 new DJI RC...could that be a game changer? A reason to have both? Or would that be overkill? You could buy just an A2S. ($999 new US or for those who don't know check out the DJI site from time to time for refurbs...currently only $799 with full warranty, one batt, etc. or $1039 w. fly more combo.) What do you think? Would having a Mini 3 and an A2S as the ultimate 2-drone toolkit!!
Replying to myself...tonight A2S w flymore on Amazon dropped to $1039 (20% off) NOT a refurb....something going on with the A2S? (Prime Day starts tomorrow in US too but it doesn't flag it as a Prime Day special.)
Honestly just bought a mini 2 for $350 from Costco with carrying case, extra battery, and few other things.. it’s really nice and good enough for my purposes. Plus approx 1/3 cost.
Not to mention air sense is so nice. It really really beeps and it will lower in altitude if you’re on a collision course at the same altitude. All drones need this not RID.
All you need to do is pay attention to the highlights in the unedited video and you can spot the bigger sensor every time.
Another great video I have both and both with the smart controllers I think they r the best 2 to have especially the mini 3 Pro for holidays . The mavric 3 Pro good yes but well expensive unless you have a business and making money from it then fine buy it but to be fair these 2 I feel one has everything one needs from having a drone, not saying one has to have both, but I would go more for the mini 3 as one can take it anywhere and get fantastic photo or video like we saw in your majorca vid...Oh I won't tell anyone put u put a £ sign in front of the air 2s instead of a $ sign whoops lol. Someone is using Niklas Christl text graphics. Nice. I like the video, already have the Mini 2. Currently moving to FPV as its more immersive flight experience but will carry on with cinematic flight with Mini 2.Choosing between the 2 is hard. Low light is probably the main driver the Mini 3 has IMO, but one point you missed is what is the usage for the drone as it's geared to mainly filming. The Air 2S had its SDK updated that can now be used for commercial aspects like mapping something the Mini 3 is not supported yet.
I have the mavic pro2 and sold my mavic air and bought the mini 3 pro. What I like about the mini 3 pro is I can fly it almost anywhere with my basic license. Better is irrelevant if you aren't able to use it
Is DJI Air 2S Drone Fly More Combo with ND filters for USD$1039.99 a good deal than buying Dji Mini 3 Pro with old RC Fly More combo (no ND filters) for USD$948? This will be my first drone. I'll be flying for recreational purposes only. Any suggestions? I'm struggling to decide.
