Nine Minutes of One-liners: Gary Delaney's hilarious first Live at the Apollo appearance.

It got tens of millions of views on Facebook and doesn't seem to be on youtube at all so I'm adding it now. It's a couple of minutes longer than the standard TV version, thought interestingly there's also half a dozen jokes they cut, which I'll stitch together and add in a new video soon. The set is all jokes taken from my first and second tour shows. Lots of the gags I'd already used on Mock the Week but Apollo is a much bigger platform so you do a greatest hits set. It was recorded at the Hammersmith Apollo on 6th September 2017. Two shows are recorded back to back with the same audience. I was the last act recorded on the second show but the order was changed when it was shown on TV to show me as the opener. As last act at the end of a long record you run the risk of a tired flat audience, but you can usually take the piss a bit and run over to give the editor more to pick from. I did a 25 minute set of 105 jokes and it went well.
My fourth tour 'Gary In Punderland' starts this Summer (to allow time for vaccine rollout) and will continue throughout 2022 and, if it sells like the last tour, well into 2023. Currently on sale dates are here www.garydelaney.com. Most of my regular venues are still out of action due to Covid hence the great many missing towns and cities. Don't worry, I've not forgotten you! As we return to normal these towns will hopefully be added as will more dates in the places that sold out too fast for people to get tickets. More dates will be added as more venues reopen and gradually work through their backlog of postponed shows.
If it says "Join waiting list" that means it's not really sold out as the venue held back tickets because of social distancing. For events after June 21st 2021 these can reasonably be expected to go on sale at some point, hence the waiting list.

One of my favourite comedians. Ever. Love the way he laughs at his own jokes....and why not? They're bloody funny!
If anything seeing him amused by his own jokes and the effect they're having on the audience is incredibly endearing.

If you remember the comedians from the 70's, Ken Goodwin, he was the guy who would take yonks to finish a joke 'cus he couldn't stop giggling at his own jokes. 😁
Would be funnier if he didn’t laugh and did it seriously, like Anthony Jeselnik. Has a certain feel to it when he doesn’t break.

Serious answer: You notice he (and other one liner comedians) has a way of sequencing them that probably helps to keep them in line. For instance, he goes from his neighbors’ sex tape -> being called a voyeur -> the girlfriend with IBS, all a common theme.

I'm from the US, so I'm having to learn words and phrases from across the pond - like bloke and slag. Some jokes I just don't get, but Gary's still the funniest comedian I've heard in a long time.
