- r/Pettyrevenge As a young kid, OP starts getting harassed by a bully at school. The teacher don't do anything to help, obviously. OP's father tells him to get revenge against the bully by fighting back. Well, OP gets an opportunity pretty soon when the bully grabs a patch of poison ivy and threatens to rub it on OP. OP pushes the bully down, causing the bully to land face-first into the patch of poison ivy. OP sits on the bully and just rubs their face in it.

Unpaid internships actually aren’t legal at all. Bosses just find ways to use them anyway for unpaid labor they don’t want to do.

@@justyourfriendlyneighborho903 You're not wrong, since they don't actually give you responsibilities they leave the contract open-ended so that they can change what your responsibilities are.
@@lilwizraw12 Although federal labor law says that the internship has to actually have some connection to their educational program. Not all states require that it be arranged through a school but having a student in a chemistry program stuffing envelopes would not meet the standard of having any true program equivalent instruction.
Internships are to be used similar to apprenticeships in the trades. It's not supposed to be free labor, it's supposed to be more to the benefit of the student than the business (their having a free set of hands is a knock on effects rather than the primary purpose). If one raises the matter with a labor board they can be entitled to minimum wage, plus punitive interest for the misuse of internship.
@@Oxios That's is true, although this is not common knowledge and businesses often sweep this under the rug with false promises. unpaid internship has it's applications.
for example, I did an 4 days internship at a workshop.
they basically taught me some metalworking stuff.
I was not doing any actual work, but would still be supervised.
it would have been stupid getting paid for that.
HOWEVER, if someone is doing actual work, and/or for more than a week, unpaid internship should be illegal
It is slavery. Not other way to slice it. You are working, regardless of how unproductive you are or for what reason you are there and you are receiving no compensation.
you mean getting free education is slavery?
should we also get paid for school by the same logic?
...I'm in!
@@mari_023 its free in much the same was as you can pay your rent with "exposure". Unpaid jobs are an abomination.
@@ScorpiusZA. I agree, all jobs should be paid.
@@ScorpiusZA. You don't even know what slavery is, if they can leave without serious repercussions it's not slavery. Also education has value to, it's just that the trade is made without money as an means of exchange, labor is traded directly for education.
Now if the internship provides no or barely any education you do have a point, but it is still not slavery, unless the person is forced to stay.
Also almost every youtuber pays their rent with "exposure" so.....
Unpaid internships is possibly the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. And every time I have heard of them in use - it has been in the US (honestly, no surprise there). If you don't want to PAY for the position, you don't NEED the position. As far as I am concerned - it is slavery.
Internships are supposed to be regulated, but mostly it's on the individual state level. Internships are supposed to be like apprenticeships in that they primarily benefit the intern by giving them a safe instruction environment. The business does benefit by an extra set of hands to use and goodwill generated in the community by training the young up and coming generation of workers. The intern's work is supposed to help the existing employees instead of replace paid employees. But businesses and the people who run them are self-interested to get labor for the least amount of money possible, and will abuse the idea of internships.
On the flip side, what kind of idiot works for free? It's not slavery because the intern isn't being forced into it. They CHOOSE to work for free. Unpaid internships are just volunteer work for the stupid.
@@War450 Some jobs can be incredibly hard to get into unless you have an expensive qualification or experience. Not all jobs obviously, but some people do unpaid work so they can more easily find a job in their preferred area. I still disagree with unpaid internships

@@sfreemanoh Unfortunately yes, and that's approaching not working anymore as no one believes it.
I really don't understand people that come in like 1 minute before closing. It's like we opened at 8am and close at 10pm. You've had 14 hours to come in and you choose the last possible minute. It's always the awkward people as well. Like the ones who want a difficult refund or something
I worked the phones for a store and people would call in and ask when we closed. I would tell them an hour before we actually closed, because any person asking that is going to figure out how to come to the store right at closing. They could've looked up the hours themselves - instead they were calling to get tacit permission to come in last minute. People would still get there after what time they were told so it didn't matter anyway.
I actually walked out of a place when I found out they were closing in a few minutes. Came back a few days later much earlier in the evening.
While working during summer break at a restaurant, we would close the automatic metal gate leaving barely enough for us to crawl under it if there was an emergency, close the glass inner doors and set up a table for us to eat and relax.
People would get on their knees on the street floor to poke their head under the gate and ask if we were open or, worse, complain because the had been sitting in the outdoor terrace (the chairs were chained together at this point and the tables bare) but no one had come out to serve them.
As someone who used to work closing [ I work for a store that rhymes with BuBlix ] we had so many people do that we had to go over the intercom to let them POLITLEY know we are closing for the night and our associations [ workers ] need to do last minute shopping
@@AbyssalPrince a few days ago, we were closed, with the main gate closed and the lights in the public area off, and a woman knocked on the back door to ask if we were closed.
Graduate student here.... the thing with unpaid internships is that typically you are receiving class credit in exchange for the experience and training, so technically you are still being compensated for your work.
Some states are more diligent about regulating that than others. Since it's up to the states some like CA require any internship to be arranged and monitored through an educational institution. Others just let you say you're opening an internship and that's that.
Don't forget that they often turn into real job offers after graduation, as well.
the second story makes no sense. If there is a noise ban of over 80db why did the mulcher get a pass, plus using the leaf blower is still running. Just cause you can't hear it now it is still over 80db? Also Police do not enforce neighborhood ordnances/covenants Unless it is a city ordnance.
The neighbor likely called about the mulcher (not the blower) only to be told that it isn't included in the noise restriction. Chances are they didn't even hear the blower because of the mulcher being so much louder.
Because leaf blowers are the most common type of landscapers tool
@@josephpavone4574 Yes, I'm sure no one anticipated the mulcher. LOL Now the question is whether they amend the rule to include mulchers, trucks, etc.
Thank you!
The rule was ALL NOISE above 80 decibels. My theory is that OP made it up. It was way too convenient, and no explanation.
It was driving me crazy through the whole story.
@@BCFBreakfastClubFan Usually noise things have exceptions, obviously. Some things literally HAVE to be done and CAN'T be done quietly. Most likely the noise ban applies to residential situations, such as leaf blowers. But more commercial and industrial things, like maintenance on your house, can exceed the noise. Like, try building an addition to your house, putting in a new driveway, adding a pool, planting a new tree, fixing your roof, without going above the noise threshold. It's not possible or practical. So odds are the mulcher was an exception to the noise whereas the leaf blower (something you can do yourself with one bought from walmart) wasn't.

He couldn't figure out where his full-body rash came from. Wife did not have a reaction to poison ivy.. Ha! Her second husband treats her like a queen.
That story about the bully made me smile as someone who was bullied it always amuses me when bullies get their ass kicked
So, you record these a monthbin advance? No wonder you're always on point.
That name for the first story is very interesting...

OP in the Ivy story when the bully gets physical and starts after the friend: "So... You have chosen, death."

Dad of the year right here. Teach your children it's okay to laugh at people with a disability. Your children will probably get a snack down coming in their future when they make fun of someone else with a disability. OMG, it was sweet to see. This entitled 18 got a busted lip and two black eyes when he mocked a cashier with a noticable disability. Another customer got fed up with his mocking the worker and taught him a lesson he never will forget.
"I've never given my information so _slowly_ ..............................................................................."
that silence made me laugh but at the same time scared me
i thought my computer was slow and checked twice
@@soreidelas I have no idea how many did, but I assume a lot.

Regarding unpaid internships, I think they are "okay as long as you're a student, you aren't worked more than 20 hours a week, and you get a reference." I had an internship in college, mainly that involved a senior at the company helping me upwards 5 hours a week and I would work about 15 hours a week solo. They would treat us to lunch and cheap coffee every day.
I always love the variety from serious to casual
“Our first Reddit post is from ‘I kidnap babies’”
Uhhu, interesting…..
_[FRANTICALLY DIALS 999]_
I mean depends on the babies…..
😔
Wait, you recorded this episode on Juneteenth? And you post everyday, so you have a month worth of videos queued up? Impressive
The stutter thing scares me so bad, I'm 16 and my stutter has recently gotten a lot worse. I work at a fast food place and people chuckle when I cant get words out and I get so embarrassed even if they arent malicious :((
Yall do know that you can block emails and texts right? Even groups.
I kept getting lottery spam, where you can fill in your details on a physical postcard and send it back to get a subscription. I sent them back filled in with nonsense. In the end, I also sent some images of lewd anime elves. I haven't received any lottery spam ever since.
Hell yeah! I love anime too. Hentai is useful for dealing with idiots and scammers
Do more AITA. I demand more AITA.
lol, I have never had a paid internship, nor did it ever cross my mind that they should be paid
I've also had experiences with people trying to weasel their way into my restaurant after close. We officially closed the lobby at 2200hrs (10pm), but had a 1-hour grace period so people could finish eating.
So many customers used the sight of people inside as their reason to be let in. So many headaches.
dang 3 mins and it already has 1,560 views thats when the youtuber is good
