To be honest, the ECW championship design would have worked if it wasn't the ECW championship, if it had been for a new mid card title on Raw or Smackdown, it could have worked, but the fact that it was a corporate looking title for a company that was meant to be anything but corporate is why it didn't work
Hell, if they'd skipped the gameshow phase, it would have been a good fit for the first NXT championship belt
@@RubyRoksi absolutely agree
I can agree with that, it was just too hoity-toity to be associated with what was basically the Grunge movement of wrestling (the original ECW, not WWECW)
As someone who finds gold to be gaudy more often than not, I actually prefer silver to gold, including for world titles so I honestly enjoyed the new ECW Title more than most belts, but yes, for ECW it was best to just keep the old belt.
Even if it was a mid card title or whatever the belt still sucks STOP TRYING TO JUSIFY IT PEOPLE!
Nothing beats the Big Gold belt.
Big Gold is the Best Wrestling belt ever
RIP WCW Gone but never forgotten
The winged eagle will always be my favorite
@@DMBFAN90 That's a classic too 👍
Facts!
Never forget: "Naked T". When Booker T wore the belt, it was so big, it made it appear as if that was all Booker T was wearing down to the ring. Love the big Gold belt too but, it lives up to it's name. lol.
‘It looks like America threw up on it’…well it is the US championship lmao
Right. Thats the point of the damn thing!
Dead at Adam calling Moolah a bastard at the end 😂
Same.
I was definitely disappointed when the jam belt was released, but I have to say: that blue version is miles worse. The blue looked super cartoony and cheap to me, whereas the red I've long felt could be tweaked to not be as bad and actually be good. But then again, the penny tag belts grew on me so who knows
I've always thought burgundy and gold is a gorgeous combination, similar to the NA title.
I always thought the exact opposite. The red just did not work for me, looked like a toy and just wrong. While the blue version made it look cleaner and the metal on it pop more.
I have to disagree. The red univeral title is really hard on the eyes and looks like a giant fruit roll up. Changing it to blue at least made it feel a little more regal. Plus, Roman managed to make it look pretty good when he held it.
I’m very biased since i’ll always associate the Bluniversal title with Bray.
That US Spinner Belt is one of the best belts ever created. Cannot believe it’s on this list.
I want to know who voiced their concerns about the US spinner to even make this list because back then there was no complaints about the built
Seriously. It fit cena perfect for the time
Amen brother
It stinks like the rest of these belts.
@@attiepollard7847there were plenty of complaints about the spinner belts as soon as they showed up.
I remember Gillberg having the Light Heavy Weight belt for so long. I think they just stopped booking him for a while, and didn't care about the belt enough to strip him of it, but just continued his reign when he showed up.
But he almost never defended it.
Very similar booking strategy they have going on now with reigns. Time truly is a circle in the wwe.
If you don't know. Tommy Dreamers hardcore belt was actually at the time recently retired European belt. With a licence plate attached to it.
Bradshaw's custom hardcore belt was just the smoking skull belt with a American flag glued to it.
Both made with replicas..
That Tommy Dreamer title is easily the weirdest inanimate object I've seen in wrestling.
Even weirder than the Great Khali?
I honestly never understood the hate towards the spinner belt. I love it. I have a replica. Probably because i grew up with it and grew fond of it that is probably it.
I like the WWECW Championship but 100% not a great look for a World Championship
The funny thing about the universal title is that I distinctly remember people accurately predicting the design due to the company's laziness.
The Jeff Hardy "Too the Top" joke was incredible. Adam you're far too modest
You know what I trip about Moolah's reign is that my parents where born in 1956 and I was born in 84. That is trippy
That ECW title is actually one of my favorites. Something stands out about the black and silver. I'd love to hold that belt.
To me it's the colour, looks like someone melted your mum's pan and made a title.
It's the Romanian crown of wrestling titles.
I agree but I also agree the old title that came before that fit much better I honestly feel like the silver Ecw title would’ve worked better as a cross brand cruiser weight title
Love the black and silver. Looks badass
All the spinner belts were cool, I loved Edge's Rated R plate on the WWE Championship but the US spinner was cool too, it fit the theme and Cenas gimmic at the time. Since the mid 2000s was a heavy "gangsta rap" influenced period, it just worked..
Hot take: I don’t mind the tag belt design
I've gotten so used to them that it feels weird that people still hate them.
Another unpopular opinion: I prefer the "red/blue strap" design to the "big penny" design. Silver at least looks a bit more prestigious@@handleunavailable
Well now they're gone thankfully
@@austinhernandez2716 to be fair I was referring to the bronze ones, I’m so glad those hideous red and blue ones are gone.
lol you like pennies?
I had the kids replica of the John Cena us title. I thought it was cool 😅
Feel like every kid loved those spinner belts
Cena's US Title wasn't THAT bad 😆
at least it was something different
His spinner world title was worse. I hate that belt.
@@machomusprime50Yeah. The spinner had no place on a world championship belt.
You’re right. It was absolutely dreadful.
@MJPMuzik I like, when the rated R superstar had the spinner
You should make a worst championship belt design of all promotions
I love the Big Penny design. If they were gold it would look a lot better. Also the North American title is round too.
Honestly, I like the NWA women's belt having a photo window. Better than a nameplate you can barely see or side plates with your logo on it.
Indeed and the belt Moolah had with her photo in it was at least a historical belt, not like a lot of garbage produced today!
The white ic strap is the most beautful belt in wrestling history
I've liked basically every version of the Intercontinental Title belt.
Apparently the 24/7 belt looked good to R-Truth since he won it over 50 times. Meaning somehow, Truth is one of the most decorated champions. A 50+ time WWE 24/7 champion.
One honourable mention in this list you could have included is the current IC champ belt. Not a fan of the design, but not the worst for me
Cena’s US title is better looking that the WWE one and most of the belts on this list. Also the “Vanilla Ice cosplay phase (the one where he didn’t resemble him at all),” is the best version of Cena.
The WWE Spinner belt and The US Spinner belts are my favorite championships
More belts should have moving parts. They should outsource the belt design to cybertron and have the belts transform into robots for maximum merchability
yeah Sammartino is the longest reigning champion in WWE history, Moolah not only didn't hold it for as long as they said she did, she also lost it a few times, usually gaining it back a short while later. but no single uninterrupted run comes close to Sammartino's near 8 years.
It's funny, back when i first got into watching WWE, i always wanted to be Diva's champion. Probably should have been a sign of things to come, but dumb teens are dumb.
I personally liked the ECW belt when I was a kid
I have seen a fan made version of that belt with golden plates and the details colored in, and my God does it look great!
Poor Mick Foley, had the misfortune of presenting us the Universal and 24/7 belts
I don't actually hate all of these. The Hardcore Belt doesn't scream hardcore to me, but it looks kinda neat. Looks like something straight from Mad Max, which is kinda hardcore.
The new Tag Team Belts also look pretty neat. Could be better designed but I dig the bronze look of it, and the imagery. Lot of strong nods towards Spartans, and Spartans are pretty cool generally. The fact they got rid of the bronze and gave them coloured straps for the brands is honestly the biggest offender for me personally.
I don't even hate the 24/7 belt's choice of colours, but I'd struggle to find a belt concept that would work for that colour combination and not look like the worst thing. I hate the actual design, not the colours, if that makes sense.
John Cena's stupid US spinner belt though can absolutely go die in a trash fire however. That one REALLY took the piss. It looks like some wall hanger shite you'd get from your local mall. You know the ones. "Vomited America all over it" is too painfully accurate.
The fact that WWE has not had a good tag team championship design for Raw or Smackdown since 2009 *blows my mind.*
Always thought that customized belts to the wrestler (Cena’s spinner, Hardy’s TNA title, or Austin’s Skull title) devalued the title…
The broken up Hardcore Championship was so badass and WWE should have preserved it
I've said this before in the past that WWE should make belts that represent the shows that they exist on and bear the show logos too, but at least now the new World Heavyweight and Women's World belts help to offset having four singles belts all looking the same.
I do like the red and blue tag belts (new designs would be cool and make them distinctively different), the I-C and U.S. are fantastic, and the NXT belts are a good batch too. Even the Women's tag belts have their own design.
Even wilder idea would be if they just put the women on their own weekly show with a world, singles, and tag belts. Not that they shouldn't get featured on Raw or Smackdown, but it would give more air time and more room to feature more talent. I know it won't happen but I just had to put that last one out there.
Having a separate women's show isn't actually a bad idea 🤔🤔🤔
However I doubt it would happen cos most wrestling fans would like something that caters to different aspects of the sport like high flying, technical/mat based, hardcore and so forth.
The same match type all the time would get super boring. Plus I think the women might reject such an idea cos they want to he held on the same pedestal as men and naturally that means being featured on the same card tho a women's only event would be able to showcase more female talent who are usually left in the background in favour of big name stars.
5:51 you got it in reverse. The Smackdown belts with the blue straps were introduced first in August 2016 while the new red raw belts were introduced right after roadblock 2 in December
That WWECW title looks like it would work as a custom Judgment Day WHC if Damian won it
Even as a kid, I remember seeing that divas title being unveiled for the first time with all the divas surrounding it and immediately thinking this was the most horrendous looking belt I have ever seen.
Hot take: I like the tag team coin belts. I find the other ones often overdesigned, and the smaller form factor makes sense since there's two of them. If you think about it, isn't a tag team belt really half a belt and not a whole belt?
I figured it out. The modern intercontinental belt should be the tag team belts. That belt does not work for a singles title. I prefer the old one with the white strap tbh.
The Penny tags are the best tag belts. They actually have a representation of team work with the centurion helms having each other's backs.
No
@@BrockHeyman4L sorry you're wrong.
The helms are literally the only positive about them.
@@thomassinclair6828 Those aren't centurions, maybe don't call people wrong when you don't know what you're talking about lmao
I don't mind that license plate title ive never seen it before but I LIKE IT
I met The Usos in 2014 and got to wear the real WWE Tag Team Titles
It did feel really good and those belts were really easy to hold as a belt
I actually like the original penny belts
To where can I get to hard-core title? I don’t even remember that. That is so awesome.
Oh God, the Diva's Championship is only #2!? What could possibly be worse than that? ... Ohhh, okay. That's fair.
Same thought went through my head.
I personally liked the look of the penny tags, way better looking than the all silver crap they have now.
4:08 *The 2008 ECW title is my all-time favorite* title belt design. It's just Amazing, in all it's Majestic, Silver Glory!
Now do the opposite: The 10 BEST WWE Championship Designs
HEY! Don’t forget that 24/7 title was the only good thing about WWE for about 2 months. Thank you R TRUTH!
We used to refer to that divas’ belt as the tramp stamp title. I’m sure a lot of you did, too.
1. ECW championship would have been great in gold. 2. Diva's belt with a white strap is BEAUTIFUL
Well let's get history mark on this: the faces of the champions was normal practice ar one point in time I personally like the touch it makes feel important and like the champion has a focus put on them. At one point the world heavyweight title had the same kind of picture center on it.
The Hogan Mystery belt that was used for about two weeks in 1986 also had this feature. Nifty belt.
The fact that the wwe hardcore and wwe spinner title isn’t on here is wild
24/7 looks like an arcade prize
I will defend the WWECW championship in so far as, much like the show itself, by any other name it would have been fine. But carrying on that lineage was an impossible job. Though, I think there's also something to be said about the colour of it. I'm not sure if it's meant to be platinum but at first sight it looks silver so it automatically has this second rate image in your head when you compare it to the other world titles which are gold.
I like the tag titles too, I know everyone talks about the giant pennies or whatever, which again if you use the colour line of thinking does evoke bronze and it being a lesser prize, but I think the spartan helmets really save it. It helps inspire the idea of it being a team team prize, plus the helmets being back to back gets across this idea of that team being the centre of this whole division. If you think about that trope in cinema where two people are in this desperate struggle, fighting back to back surrounded by their enemies, arguably it's the same here where you might have like 5-6 other teams gunning for you.
1. Too many belts.
2. The current belts with the huge WWE logo are disgusting.
Everyone rags on 24/7 title but i think it's just too plain but i agree with the bit about the green strap
12:41 honestly, I never minded the modern nwa women's title with the picture lol
I really hate the current Intercontinental title design. They should change it back to the design they had during the New Generation Era.
I agree it's awful that and the woman's tag belts are the worst right now 🤦
I agree man I felt I was in the minority😅. It's an ugly looking belt that replaced a design that didn't need to be replaced
Compared to every other championship on the main card, and promotional championships, this one has more of a look and design to it, without the bigass W in the middle for marketing.
But I still see your point, it’s an ugly ass belt to look at.
One of my favoured championships is the Lucha Underground Gift Of The Gods Championship. For some reason that things looks so majestic. 😂
Well it's 1000 times better then the ruthless agression to 2010 intercontinental belt version. Before the miz brought back the classic championship belt or was it Curtis axel son of Mr perfect can't remember 🤔
Yes Gunther should get a new belt for the record like Roman did. Except this time it’s actually a new design lol. Or go back to the Cody version lol.
For the most part, I don't care what a belt looks like, since it doesn't really matter because champs don't treat them like the prestigious objects they're meant to be. Remember Ric Flair in the 80s, when he'd come to the ring with the belt around his waist? He'd take it off and pass it to the ref like it was a 100 year old heirloom. Or when he'd cradle it in his arm against his body doing promos.
Now? Championship belts are tossed over the shoulder, dragged around by hand, even launched into the ring by champions.
Bring back respect and prestige to both the meaning of a championship as well as the object that represents it!
PS: expected to see the Big Green WWF World Hvt Title belt, glad it didn't make the list.
I like the 24/7 title look. It had a unique look to it. Also I loved the silver ECW belt, because it looked different.
I think the flames on it should have been colored like flames
I don't think the Light Heavyweight and John Cena's US Titles were that bad.
The old tag team titles were so cool honestly. Jeff hardy's belt was so cool looking
That Tommy Dreamer title looked like someone took the original NWA title, then bought a license plate and put it over the main plate. It was horrible, honestly
That Divas belt always did feel like a bit of a slight to the women. Their modern belts are far superior. They look like serious titles now.
Mick Foley stole the 24/7 belt design from a indy fed. The original designer was a dude named Nathan Gust
to be completely honest, at first I liked the wwe tag team championships. but I was a child at the time and when I discovered what the social medias thought about them some years after, I just couldn't unsee the "penny" lmao but even if the whole design was garbage, what I still like about them was the spartian helmets because they're a great symbol (imo) of the warriors that are the wwe superstars. I'm pretty sure they could've done something good with these spartian helmets, but sadly they didn't
I love how he made fun of the last ECW TITLE
I remember the Lightheavyweight title meaning so little that Dean Malenko stopped bothering to carry it around after a while.
6:37 the license plate is pretty kool you buggin
The winged eagle was beautiful
As a kid I loved the way the light heavyweight title looked
What about the WWE spinner belt the one John Cena used for over 10 F-ken years??
I can’t be sure this wasn’t a dream but I believe there was a segment where the WWE tag champs The Shield came to NXT to confront the NXT tag champs Neville and Cory Graves, saying something like “you’ll never hold THESE” and raised those disgusting penny belts.
I could only imagine Neville and Graves were just like “yeah, we’re good”.
The idea behind the Universal Championship looking the same as the WWE Championship was to make them seem like they were on equal level
The WWECW belt definitly belongs on the list. You can't make title that is meant to signal who ever holds it is the best brand has to offe out of silver.
Eh, I’m Canadian and I think the Cena US Spinner is actually one of the nicest US titles, next to the WCW US title
The immortal championship was dope as fuck tho
I like the black-and-silver belt; it resembles the Eastern Championship Wrestling belt more.
And the Spartan helmet belts were striking with the bronze.
PS: Yes, the NYC Hardcore belt is balls... sorry, bollocks. And the 24/7 belt wasn't good enough to end up in the trash can.
I guess I am atypical in that I enjoy the butterfly belt.
Greatest Royal Rumble title that disappeared immediately. For good reason
I would have added purple inlays on the silver for the WWECW belt.
If this video has thought us anything it is don't let Mick Foley introduce any more belts.
Am I the only one who hated the Hardcore belt (not the license plate one because obviously, but the one that looks like it was "broken" and then taped back together)? It always reminded me of someone's cardboard sign partially set on fire.
I honestly don't hate the tag belts.
Originally I didn't like the round plates but I guess I'm just used to them at this point.
The only problem to me at this point is the colors, at least of the Raw version. I think that if we made the Raw ones gold with a red strap and the SmackDown ones stayed the same, they'd look neat.
I actually like the tag title design
The 24/7 is fine in colour scheme and font placement but looked half finished. It needed more detailing on the plates compared to say TNA's digital media titles which has circuit board type livery and you get the idea.
I would have cogs and wheels detailed on to the centre plate behind and around the fonts to make it look like an skeletonised clock face. With name plate or wwe logos on the side plates.
Worst thing about the penny belt was that they were bronze. Such a dis to tag team wrestling making them a literal 3rd place medal.
24/7 belt just looked like a participation prize, and partly treated as such.
I actually like the red and blue belts, but only if they took the split of the brands seriously. You could have elements of Raw and Smackdown on the belts and make them unified as part of the company, but still unique for each show. I admit though, I hate the mustard belt design. They could have went back to the black straps for the men, and white straps for the women, but why on earth did they put so much yellow on the belt?
You did not just Diss John Cena’s US Title
you just made a top 10 of my favorite belts as a kid.
There's one glaring omission: Bray Wyatt/the Fiend's custom Universal title... someone accidentally thought that was a good idea...
The Unified Tag Titles looked like flattened pennies that where then glued on to a strip of leather... I am glad that they discontinued it!
Mick Foley introduced worst design belt
Any WWE Championship Belt after 2009 is considered a failure.
JBL's hard-core title was far worst then Tommy's
I think you should put daneal bryan champion ship in the no.1😂
WWE does not have Championship Belts, they are props
I will never forgive John Cena for mutilating the US and WWE Championship belts- those are hands down the ugliest belts known to man...
The worst championship is Romans current belt. I really hope this new TKO branding will lead to better belts. The giant W has got to go.
