Great video! :)
I have a Johnson Seahorse 3 HP from 1964. Mint condition but with an irritating dent in the tank.
I spotted the problem as soon as I pulled the cowling. Both coils were rotten to the degree of cracked (Bakelite?) insulation.
Your video will help me to get this baby running again. :)
Glad to help. It is a fun little motor to work on.
Great video always good to check your coils and wires before purchases new ones.
Thank you for sharing. I will be doing this exact same thing to a 1965 mercury 9.8 hp motor
Another guy here working on an old OMC 3hp. This is very helpful. Do you have a video that shows how to set the timing without any special tools or jigs?
if you don't disconnect the primary wires you always have continuity. Need to disconnect them for the exact result.

شكرا لك وشكرا للمشاهدة! (Thank you and Thank you for watching !)
Thanks for this brother. May you always follow GOD's guidance. Keep safe
Great video! Thank you. My question is when I test end spark wire to primary on coil I'm getting 4.21 ( on 20k ohms) acceptable? Still No spark . Tim
The primary is almost always good and should go to 0.00 Ohms. The secondary with the fine windings is the culprit. If you get between 7 and 10 Kohms it's good.
Hello..
I am trying to get electricity from my Johnson outboard motor to charge my battery.
How do i get the electricity cable from the motor ?
There is not a generator on this motor. The coils make just enough electricity to produce sparks. They were not build to charge a battery.
qual seria o valor desse capacitor de uma saida
el condensador en amazon.com costaba alrededor de $ 15 usd
what is the measurement of the point opening of this motor? Thanks
0.20 or 0.5mm
I've done all these tests and have no spark on either cylinder.
