Hyundai should be announcing pricing by the end of this month. We’re guessing it will cost around $33,000. What say you?
Dealership mark up, 48k otd!
Dealers will ruin the pricing. I hope Hyundai steps in
Meh
@@flat4wankel some fools in California will still buy it
That's the highest number I've seen for starting price by far lol. Prior, the highest I've seen as far as an estimate was that it was going to start around $30,000. Other sites have said it might even start cheaper. Either way, it's severely undercuts the Golf R price-wise (over $10k), and smokes the new Civic si in specs. Even the GTI doesn't quite have the specs of this car. Also, how in the hell Honda thinks it's still a good idea to have two dedicated civic trim levels that do not offer automatic transmissions is beyond me. They do not offer an automatic on the SI or the type R. You can get an automatic in the Golf R. Hell even the new WRX's latest top level trim only comes with an automatic. Honda is kicking themselves in the ass by not offering an automatic SI. I have literally purchased two brand new cars in the last 10 years, and they both would have been Civic SIs if they offered an automatic. Whereas now, Hyundai offers automatics on all their N cars. You can now get a DCT Veloster N, a DCT Kona N, and a DCT Elantra N. Good move by Hyundai. I'm about 99% sure I'll be going with Hyundai for my next car.
Did not expect the exhaust to sound that good.
It's a N. They all sound superb 👌
you dont know what your talking about. .
I didn’t hear anything good here. 🤔
@@S8ER coming from the factory, its pretty good compared to competitors
@@LuisRivera-qf5qj that’s fair if you compare it to its specific competitors. I definitely wasn’t considering it from that viewpoint.
Man, I love how Hyundai is hitting soooo many different markets with Kia and Genesis too.
Seeing the N treatment on more cars rather than just the N-line is realllyyy exciting. Crazy how good Korean cars have gotten now.
@hon solo How do you know that he's Korean?
@hon solo And what's wrong of being said by a Korean lmao
@hon solo ...said by a Japanese.
@hon solo okay Japanese car fanboy with that “reliability” I had the big three Japanese automakers all of them were low quality rattling shoeboxes
@hon solo how do you know he’s Korean? If he was at least he can be proud to have Hyundai,Kia and genesis, if I were Japanese I would hide my head in embarrassment if I had to drive some overrated Japanese car especially Nissan, Honda and Mitsubishi
Also you have never driven a newer Hyundai product because if you did you would realize how overrated Japanese automakers are and that Hyundai isn’t the junk automakers they once were, too bad you’re stuck in the past to admit Hyundai is doing better
I like how the exterior red trim wraps around the entire car. Aesthetically, it might not be for everyone but I think it looks pretty cool!
I love it!
I absolutely hate the way this car looks, the red trim looks tacked on and out of place, unlike the Veloster N, where it's sculpted into the body. Nevertheless, I would 100% have one of these in my garage. A car doesn't have to look great to be a total badass on the track!
Eh yeah I love this car but I’m not a fan of the red trim. Doesn’t match the rest of the car. I’d have to get that blacked out.
Could we get it without the red just one color ?

Again, your videos are awesome and I thoroughly enjoy every single one - but when reviewing a track focused car, it would be awesome to see you put it through its paces :)
As always great review. Looking forward to buying this vehicle. I'm still undecided between 6 sp manual or dct! Time will tell!
Great video. I like how Hyundai is trickling more of its new WRC pedigree into these cars. I do get the sinking feeling both the Kona N and Elantra N are sadly going to be pretty scarce in the US through the first half of 2022 due to all of the supply chain problems. I hope I end up being wrong though.
They're somewhat scarce. I just purchased one about a month ago. Cyber Gray. It's in the shop getting a bunch of new audio equipment installed. I really love the car. The only regret I have is the Kia K5 looks a bit more wicked...not sure on actual performance. It's like KIA side tried to say 290 HP while the Type N is about 285.
I drove 3.4 hours to get mine because none were available in the city.
Hyundai, Genesis and Kia have all really been stepping it up as of late. Hope they keep these really well styled/made cars coming!

I absolutely love this new Elantra N. I think that this model in all black would look pretty sinister and help that frontt end blend in a little better. With that being said, the interior is very impressive and if could add one thing to the car, it would be a black roof.
Black roof pretty easy to add aftermarket via a wrap, and won't be too expensive either.
No need for the black roof if you get it in all black😉

My lease on my 2018 Elantra Sport w/DCT was up a little too early to move into the Elantra N, which is what I wanted, so I went with the Sonata N-Line. I'm having a lot of fun in the Sonata, but when my lease is up in 2024, will be moving into the Elantra N. Great review! Thank you!

Having taught at the SCCA racing driving school at Sears Point/Sonoma Raceway for over ten years, I can say that it is one of my favorite tracks. Would highly recommend the driver's school there to enhance ones driving skills. Unbelievable how most drivers can improve their techniques in their first few days of on-track experience. Yes, it looks difficult doing a car review wearing a balaclava (head sock)...LOL
I’ve driven a number of tracks and agree; Searspoint is truly the best from a purely driving challenge/ thrills standpoint.
It will expose all of the driver’s and a car’s weaknesses! Yet so fun. A car that feels ‘planted’ at Laguna or Chuckwalla or The Ridge , All of a sudden tells you “you need to do better!” while @ Sears point.

the Japanese automakers need to step up their game as they’ve basically had dominance in the market for so many years. they’ve become too comfortable and confident in stagnating their progress…
Great review - wish you would look at the 2022 Sonata N!
K, gonna order one if they have that darker blue at the end of your video!😍😍
If this hit the market under 30k it would be insane imo. I couldn't afford it but it would be at the top of my list. Have a 2020 elantra and it's decent, with all the nice interior and exterior upgrades the N has I'd be happy for the next 10 years but maybe that's just me.
If you’re looking for under 30k, you’d better consider the Elantra N-Line. I got mine in April of this year, and it definitely competes with a few cars you wouldn’t expect. ILX A-Spec, Civic Si, the occasional GTI, but I got a Challenger off the line, and pulled him for a bit. He wasn’t expecting that to come out of a Hyundai.
the price is already insane for how good this car is. If you can’t afford it you can’t afford it period
I guess the embargo on the Elantra N was lifted today. I can't wait to see pricing. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if dealership markup put this beauty at 40k.
I saw a 22 civic sport touring hatchback at a dealer here in LA for 40k, this thing probably gonna be marked up way more than 40k

They will attract certain people with just the manual transmission.
Not many, and that is sad. Once the Veloster N DCT came out, you basically couldn't find a manual Veloster N on the west coast because dealers were only ordering the auto. One dealer, whether he was lying or not, even told me the manuals were essentially special order cars (READ: No discounts).
I just purchased the 2022 elantra in manual, it was the only one on the lot and it had been there for months. The dealer told me it was a special order that the person decided not to buy when it arrived.
No doubt that N is serious about performance. I adore the Veloster N, but I always struggle to get past the Elantra’s looks. Since you’ve got to live with the car (and walk out to it every single day), that’s the toughest sell for me. 😬
As an owner of a Performance Blue Veloster N, the front of the Elantra is only thing holding me back.

@hon solo He mentioned in the video that body roll was almost not there. The Type R's I see don't go to the track. Theres a reason why muscle cars are popular in cities since we don't have curves like in the country roads.
I really want to get into an N line Hyundai for my next car. Either the Kona, Elantra, or Veloster. Gonna be hard to find one that's close to sticker in the current market, but lets see!
I was looking at the new golf gti, but I think I’ll have to try this out and compare both before I pull my trigger.
Watching your video from last year, I’m actually disappointed that Hyundai didn’t keep some of the features from the Korean spec car, like the heated and cooled front seats, heated wheel, and heated rear seats with the vents for the rear passengers. One thing that stood out was the missing blue seatbelt. I thought that was standard for N…
Looking at the Hyundai site for what info they have, there is an animated slideshow where I can see a button for the seats. Not sure if its heated, or does both. But that could also be the Korean car used for photos.

I always liked the Elantra. For a compact sedan it always had mid sized sedan backseat space. The steering wheel on this looks great as well as everything else besides maybe the wing on the back.
The wing is the least of my complaints really. You start to kind of love the back end a bit more with the super wide/aggressive exhaust. Although I can appreciate this may be more fun to drive, I drove the Mazda 3 2.5t on Saturday for about an hour on city streets and freeway and I have to say at my age 44 I prefer the comfort and near luxury of what Mazda offers. If I was in my 20's or perhaps early 30's I may prefer this instead.
Same. I snagged the outgoing Mk7.5 VW GTI 😉
Yep the Mazda is much more about luxury feel and touches. Unfortunately the 2.5T engine and transmission is really not appealing to enthusiast alike. The engine has a lot of midrange power but falls completely flat on its face which isn't ideal for hard driving. All the A6 needs a few extra gears for harder launches and quicker shifts. But there is no denying the 2.5T engine and A6 powertrain is a great alternative for luxury branded cars. So smooth and nice.
@@ayushmalpeddi2793 I can agree on that. It needs at least 2 more gears. If the new WRX wasn't so fugly, I'd probably consider that overall
