    Performance Blue 6-spd on the ground for 1500 miles. Everything I hoped for and more. 53 year old long time sport-compact Gti, WRX,ST, RS, owner......nobody is building anything like this anymore. Just "nice" enough to impress a few passengers, or at least need no apologies....just "hardcore" enough to put a huge smile on your face the rest of the time. Diff, steering feel, brake feel, throttle response, and yes, shameless "I'm that guy" exhaust bangs in "N" mode---- just everything has the right enthusiast's touch....but then you relax the suspension and cruise in Normal/Eco and it does a reasonable approximation of an every day family car.......massively happy with purchase!

      @@jfernsten and that’s why I’ve been looking into buying one. I have a Kia K5 GT-Line AWD and that car is fairly fun to drive and can get 38-43mpg in eco mode, but it lacks power and speed. Sometimes I really want to get around some one and it feels like a dog to do so in the K5. There are a couple Elantra AB’s near me so I figured I’d swing by and see what all the buzz is about and if I’m going to be joining the family of owners.

    • @jfernsten
      @jfernsten Před 2 lety +3

      @@btchidz ECO mode causes the transmission to shift to the highest feasible gear for the speed you're traveling. As a result, the RPM's often sit around 2000 or less, consuming less fuel. With this car, pushing the right silver N button puts the whole vehicle into head-snapping, corner carving mode. When done with fun stuff, pushing the left silver N button puts it back into the mode you were in before.

    I like IT! LOVE the exhaust note ... bet it would sound better in person. But the fact that you can hear it! My car, which is the sport version of a different brand.. it's exhaust is too quiet, and when I went to play... and use the paddle shifters ... i have to get automatic cuz my wife doesn't like standard ... but paddle shifters are still fun. But I can't hear it, and I hate having to look at the gauges. Can't shift by sound ... and using the shifters, amps everything WAAAY up. Cornering is bumped up huge. I'd love this car almost just for that reason ... so I could hear when to shift. Told my wife, "Mannnn, using the paddle shifters I can corner even FASTER!" ... annnnd! I agree with your son on the red. He has some good taste (and im older then you) ... Okay, okay! I'll subscribe... this is the third or forth video I've watched this morning.

      I do agree though, especially the non-choice with the sun roof. That's a huge dead weight, and if people wanted to run this at track, that's going to be an issue. However, it is also a marketing strategy to trim out the branches and just stick them with 'one choice' package, since most consumers in places like NA or AU rarely feel the need to go to a circuit to test these out as they have a vast land and road.
      Also... it's Namyang's way of saying 'yeah come to Korea if you are a type of customer that really wants a fucking back seat air vent for a fun piece like this because we sure have lot of those people around here', direct quote translation from the sales rep.

    I have the dct. I really like this car. I've seen a lot of reviews and everyone talks about the exhaust sound being so bad ass. I hate to burst your bubble but most of that bad ass "active sound design " is coming thru your back speakers. And if you do the update for your navigation it gives you a rally car sound also. I turn that crap off. I still like the sound of the actual exhaust.

    I'm still a bit baffled by why they offer a sunroof on the manual for the Canada market, but not in the US. That doesn't make any sense, at all.
    Also, i'm 48 and bought the car 1 month ago. Has nothing to do with age, had everything to do with an affordable, fun car.

      I’m 47 and I don’t give a shit about how it looks. I’m not a huge fan of the looks but it seems like others are. I just LOVE the way this 6sp manual feels to drive. I drive like I’m always in a rush and this car helps me with that.

      @xeekk Před 2 lety

      @@lovejoyb20 it is wet DCT if it’s an Elantra and likely Avante; the i30 Sedan N just says 8 speed DCT which I’m pretty sure is the wet version. The dry DCT is < 8 gears and in other cars.

    I kind of hate the exterior design. I love that Hyundai/Kia are trying different things out and their designs are anything but boring, but sometimes it just doesn't work. I love how the Veloster N looks, but the Elantra N looks weird. Kind of flat, stretched in weird ways, too busy in the front. Overall, it looks like too many different design elements weaved into 1 car and something just doesn't look cohesive.

    What does the “N” stands for?

    • @ENtense
      @ENtense Před 2 lety +2

      Hyundai’s ‘N’ represents two important elements. First, the Namyang district in South Korea, the birthplace of the N brand and location of Hyundai’s Global R&D Center. Second, the Nürburgring racetrack in Germany, which is home to Hyundai’s Technical Center which is used to test the N vehicles. Finally, the ‘N’ logo itself is also a representation of a classic chicane or tight serpentine turn in the road.
