I have a Red Head 1856 Collection Gun Safe that I bought from Bass Pro Shop about 5 years ago. For some reason it will not open up for me as usual. I open it all the time. I know I have the right Combination. It just will not open any more. What could I have done accidently to mess up the Combination ? Or, could the Dial Go Bad ?

I was at a loss on how to change my combination. After a little thought I figured out that this type of lock is capable of being changed to one other combination and it is very easy. Open the safe door and remove the panel. Leave the door unlocked so the combination plates do not turn. You will see the nut surrounded by the “locking fingers” that keep it from unscrewing. There is a cross bar that is fitted into two nubs. We want to clock the crossbar to the right and put it on the two other nubs position. To do this, pull the lock fingers away from the bolt with your fingers. Unscrew the nut 3-1/2 turns. Pull the cross bar toward you so that you can rotate it to the right. Use the dial on the other side to help you rotate the cross bar to the other two hubs. Tighten the nut exactly 3-1/2 turns and bend the locking fingers over the nut. To determine the new combination lock the safe by pulling the lever WHILE THE DOOR IS OPEN. Turn the dial 3 times to the right then look at the innermost combination plate while turning the dial to the right until you see the long slot line up with the horizontal unlock bar. Write down the number that the dial is on. Next look at the middle combination plate while turning the dial to the left until you see the long slot line up with the horizontal unlock bar. Write down the number that the dial is on. Finally, look at the closest combination plate while turning the dial to the right until you see the long slot line up with the horizontal unlock bar. Write down the number that the dial is on. WITH THE DOOR OPEN, lock the safe with the lever then open it with your new combination. If it does not open smoothly look at the plates you might have to add or subtract 1 to one of the combination numbers to get it just right. Do you know how to remove the fireproof panel? It looks like it has clips, but it is also so close to the safe that it may have some type of glue? If so, is there a special glue to use when putting it back together? Also, are the clips going to break off and need to be replaced?

I have my door off so if you don't have the change key can you take the nut off and spin it back and forth then watch it until they line up??

You have to have three numbers. There are combo sequences that will be much faster than others..
Use your high school combination , it has been practiced by you for years in school, so you know you got in your lockers quickly in between classes there so it should be the same in an emergency.

Do you know how to change the type that does not have a change key? I have a stack-on with a Chinese combination lock. There are only 3 wheels, the outer plate has a bunch of holes in it.

I have a tall Red Head winchester black safe. Where do i get the key? Does the safe come with a key? Is it located inside the door? If not can i buy the key? Or does locksmith have a key like this? The video instruction is great but without telling how to get the key it is not going to help

My ex has recently passed away and his family didn't want the Field & Stream 1871 Manual dial gun safe so Now it's mine but where do I find the tool to change the combination of safe
No one wants to sell the tool . I even offered up his death certificate to company as proof of his passing and former ownership .But still won't sell tool to change manual lock to me

When my father died, no one in our family knew the combination to the safe, it is open but can't be locked for that reason. I asked a local locksmith who also sells safes if it can be done several years ago and he said he could. I just wanted to find out if it was easy enough for me to do it.

I hope they aim their guns a whole lot better than they aim their cameras. Why would anyone bother sharing or posting these videos when the person setting up the camera was too lazy to even bother checking out the camera shot? This is crucial in an instructional video. It’s rather ironic they failed to recognize the importance of proper aim in order to get a good shot. 😵
This is the 3td video i have watched by this person and every time the camera is way too high. Every one of these videos has someone (or more) saying so.
