Mike Tyson demonstrates how he beat Tyrell Biggs in this boxing training video. This video show Mike Tyson training with UFC champ Henry Cejudo.
Mike Tyson is widely considered the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time. This is an excerpt from THE FUNDAMENTALS OF PEEKABOO available at
    dynamicstriking.com/collectio...
Dynamic Striking was started by a pair of black belts (Bernardo Faria & Michael Zenga) who feel that nothing is more important than improving your striking skills as much as possible in the least amount of time. Their aim was to create a shop for students interested in striking who don’t look at mixed martial arts as a sport - but as a lifestyle.

I love how Mike says "You gotta be low the whole time - less of a target" but then crucially follows it up with "and you'll need to do exercises to achieve that" - he's making it clear it's do-able, if you train, if you practice - it isn't some intangible talent. He's a great guy for sharing his knowledge

Anyone who has crossed into middle-age can tell you, it is INCREDIBLE how good of shape Mike Tyson's knees are in. He crouches and explodes without hesitation, wincing, or sluggishness. For a guy who spent years doing that movement over and over again, you would expect his joints to be worn out there, but he still seems fluid and springy.

Even with the psychedelics he is exploring the deep realms of the mind like Cus would talk about (I doubt though Cus would encourage tripping) and yeah, the fact that when he teaches its like 50% clean crisp technique and 50% about the importance of mentality. He's old school Cus to the core and its really cool to see Iron Mike's interpretation of it.

@@franksmith541 you are being a hater, you know deep inside that when Mike was in his prime he was unstoppable. People keep mentioning about his losses, why don't you mention about Ali's losses? Mental health is extremely important to have a good mood and concentrate, he lost that when Kevin Rooney was fired from Tyson team. He stoped training, drink a lot and drugs. He was not in his prime anymore, the last prime fight was with Spinks, after that everything went from bad to worse ! I wanna see you achieve what he achieved in his life then you can talk like this. I don't like Lewis at all, but i cannot deny...he was an excelent boxer. Being a fan of a guy and trying to put down another just because, it's stupid and childish.

    • @franksmith541
      @franksmith541 Před rokem

@@gamedog6704 His style was just too demanding, but he needed it to be effective as a heavyweight at his height. He talked about all the exercises he had to do for the peek-a-boo/crouch low style to be effective. It was just too difficult to maintain such a style into one's late 20's and early 30's. That's the reason he started to lose more, not because he switched trainers; he had already learned everything Rooney could teach him. So he switched to a strike first technique, trying to knock the guy out with one big punch. That left him open to counterattack. Yes, he was a beast early in his career when he was young and full of energy. But that's not enough to define a champion. It's how they do against top fighters of their generation. Tyson showed that against top adversary like Holyfield and Lewis he wasn't good enough.
Fighters like Lewis and Foreman were real heavyweights in size and height and had a more effortless style that was effective into their 30's and 40's (Foreman). That's why they were bigger champions than Tyson. The latter was a great boxer, but not a top-10 heavyweight. Had he lost some weight and fought in the cruiser or light heavyweight division, he would have been top 5 easily.

Mike's got the swiveling torso. Defense and offense at the same time. All his punches are slips at the same time, in the same fluid movement. You've got to train brilliantly and very hard for that. That's not just genetics. That's forging your body like a master metallurgist. Your torso is like a pipe, as Teddy Atlas says. So few in boxing history have that. It's how Tyson was able to jab his way inside against bigger opponents, getting to those hook and upper cut combos.

It's all about the discipline and the mentality. Anybody who has ever been in a fight tend to what to make EVER shot a head shot....hence the reason why we can't go low and stay low. However, if we begin to think about the opponent anatomy as one functioning unit and going after the abdomen and the chest, then we'll see the reaction of the opponent is to protect the body thus leaving the head not as guarded. Only when firing a gun is being at a higher position than your opponent is better. In fighting and some sports (particularly football), the lowest person has the advantage.

I have got a movie DVD of
Mike Tyson as a guest appearance
    with Paul Hogan in
    Crocodile Dundee In Los Angeles
I am dedicating this movie DVD to my old school friends who are both sisters as I hope to see them both again very soon to Chris and Hester from Billyxxx

Watching Iron Mike coaching these sessions really highlights the fact that taller opponents really do NOT always have "the advantage." Getting low & knowing where & how to strike from a low position has its benefits as well.

Mike Tyson fought in a paradigm that didn't allow knees, kicks, or honest grappling. Making oneself smaller like that is good for boxing, and often bad for mma. Remain critical, even in the presence of greatness

Do you think he'd kill Nganno, Miococ? He could starch them, but vice versa. If it was mma, he'd probably drop to light heavyweight though, is he going to kill Anthony Smith, Teixeira , Blachowicz, or even the bottom of the pile?
He had such a stocky build, he would have been a hell of a mma fighter if he had the right coaching
