To hold the brake adjuster on the end, tape is much easier, quicker, and causes fewer problems. But, in most cases you can use adhesive instead of tape. Just be very careful. For example, if you put glue in the brake adjuster and then press it on the housing, you might get glue inside the cable. Instead, put glue on the housing and then press the end onto the housing.

If you need the housing end to face a certain direction, instead of filing the groove all the way around the brake adjuster, just file the groove 3/4 of the way around so it can't rotate.

Yeah I messed up replacing the door handle and I guess I twisted it while installing and it shortened the length of the cable. I was like wtf! Glad I found your video. I’m going to spend the weekend trying to take it apart on a 2009 ford fusion and adjust the cable the way you said! Everything was going great and that happened! Now it’s a weekend job
What was the problem with your cable? Did the housing end fail, or the inner cable?
@@fixpro256 It shortened some kind of way when I didn’t place in the hole correctly. Then I think I touched the remote key and it shortened the length to put it back in place! Now when I hit the remote unlock the door makes this double clicking sound. I mean I can f up the simplest things and it was so simple and I made it difficult 🙄 I tried again yesterday, 2/24 and I still cant can the cable to extend. I tried to remove the silver panel and it wouldn’t come completely off! I kinda give up🙄 Any ideas
@@fixpro256 The inner cable is to short now and I can’t get to extend out to fit now! Now I feel like a 🤡
What vehicle?
They use these cables with the delicate ends on many makes and models. The truck I used in the video is a 99 super duty supercab.
