There is a gel that will etch glass. I used it back in the day with hand cut with an exacto knife contact paper. Can't wait to try it with the cricut!
I want to thank you both. I attempted this for the first time using my Yeti tumbler and it came out perfect, and the lines came out very crisp. I did score each letter but only in the center. Love my tumbler and can't wait to show it off!

Great Video. I'm reminded how we inherit terms from our parents, and keep using them. I was confused when you talked about Brillo pads - wondering why you would use steel wool infused with soap! Then I realized you were using what we always called Scotch Bright pads.

I have has awesome results with cricut permanent and other permanent vinyl. I didn't have any Oracel. So used what I had. The only tumbler I had was a Black Mainstays from Walmart.
I'm on a budget so i'm going to use the Dollar Tree mugs they have stainless steel ones for $5.00.
Did you find you needed to use a fairly chunky design or did it also work on small lettering as well.
Great video! I use a plastic scraper instead of the exacto so it doesnât scratch the bottles. :)

I tried yesterdays video and here it turned out great.
My house was burning more than a year ago and we have to find a place while it was being restored. We lived on a farm. The husband was retired fireman. When I was allowed to go in the house to rescue anything, my friend said, "only fifteen minutes." The fumes can be bad enough. I learned. If you don't know for sure, ask the firemen. Don't learn the bad way. Plus my son learned a hard way when he was fussing with something and started a little fire. Use a mask and not just to sneeze on others.
Can you do this over a a sublimated tumbler or over the alcohol ink wood grain tumbler?

Hubby and I tried this today, we used too much heat, it sort of melted the cup coating, shouldn't smoke lol. I ended up using perm vinyl over the top of the disolved blob. Just practice.
Same thing happened to me....I think I'll try less heat and more time. Melted the stencil and discolored the mug. Still a good advancement.
I was wondering if a type of releasing agent (Like Silicone spray) would be helpful for removing the coating after the heat treatment after applying the stripping agent and rinsing with water?

I found a tumbler on the clearance rack at Walmart several months maybe even a year ago, and managed to "strip" the coating with Etching Cream... Should I have heat pressed that? I will try to upload the pictures on FB group page...

If you are stripping all of the way down to the metal and you donât put any kind of sealer on it, do you think there be a problem with it rusting over time?
If it is a Stainless Steel tumbler it will be fine, Stainless Steel does not rust.

What did you do with the tumblers where the Citristrip got under the vinyl?
Where I live we cannot get Citristrip is there another strip product that would be equal to it.

Would StarMask 900 Adhesive Stencil Film work???? I have some of that already.
I used it last night on two tumblers different kinds of tumblers and it worked.
my tal melted horribly.... it didn't maintain any of the intricate design but just bubbled up and was so disappointing. I used a heat gun at 700 for 90 seconds after letting the citristrip sit for 10 minutes... I did even adhere the vinyl pre with a low setting to set the vinyl, anyone have any ideas? It was one of the smooth pattered tal tumblers
What tumbler turner did you use and where can I get one!
My first attempt was ok, but had some fuzzy text. Second attempt was an EPIC FAIL! Too much heat maybe? ALL of the powder coating underneath my stencil was peeling off.

I followed your instructions to a T except for the scoring because my stencil was small and I tried it on the bottom of the tumbler to test it out there first. Unfortunately, it took all the paint off the bottom and no design. Can you tell me what I did wrong? Thank you.
I tried the Mainstays tumbler, and followed exactly what you did. It turned out ok, my letters were big and bold, but not as clear as I wanted. The edges were a bit "fuzzy" in some areas. Any suggestions? Thanks!!
I saw on another video that if you use a orange stick it will clear off all excess
Did not work. Used mainstay tumblers. Not sure what went wrong. After heat removed foil it pulled the vinyl off. Used cricut permanent smart vinyl.

Is there any problem if you leave it longer than needed.
I just tried a RTIC tumbler, and thought I would wait 10 min and then heat it. It did not not turn out. Started to seep into the next letters and looked horrible.

It does not work well on powder coated tumblers. Only shiny painted ones!! Beware. Notice she was having a hard time with the black one. So did I. The pink one was easy , just paint. Same Scenarios for us also.
