This is more deep rooted issue that has plagued French football since the late 90s if you haven’t watched the Les Blues Documentary I highly recommend it to see how this is a long-standing issue for the French national team

This could be political tactics 101…the fff president can just be a distraction and a temporary fall guy for what they just did…which was to strangely/oddly give DD a four year contract and make it seem like all the blame is on the fff president. Even DD fans were surprised when they heard DD got a four year contract.
Make no mistake, the fff president was just careless about what he said and couldn’t get away with his inner thoughts maybe because he is pretty old and what not. DD is a bit more careful at hiding his inner thoughts. Maybe the fff president was just doing/saying what DD wanted. Maybe the fff president comments on Benzema and Zidane are just a reflection of what DD thinks as well behind the scenes.
What DD did with Benzema was really messed up aside from the other mistakes which i will not talk about for now until the right time comes. DD made things personal unfortunately and did not do what was best for the team. Felt like he was always desperate to find an excuse to find a reason to have a problem with benzema.

That’s how the mafia works, Benzema world cup exit was possibly part of that deal. Now if a new president wants to appoint a new manager before the end of 2026 they’ll have to pay Deschamps what’s left on his contract (Legraet might get a piece of that).

I 100% agree that the old guy needs to go. His time is up. But I'd like to point also the disrespect that Deschamps is getting. Zidane was a great player for sure, but as a manager, he still has a lot to prove. All he's done so far in his career is managing Real Madrid. Granted he's won the Champions League three times in a row with them. But apart from managing Madrid, which other clubs or countries has he managed? For me, Deschamps is one of the best managers in the world. Period. People are quick to forget what he has accomplished as a manager. He's done it at the highest level with limited resources, unlike Zidane and Guardiola for example. Leading an unfancy Monaco side to the Champions League final in 2003 (lost against Mourinho's Porto) is no small feat. And how about accepting to manage a Juventus club that was relegated to the lower divisions after the Calciopoli scandals and getting them back in the Serie A? And what about France? He took them to three major tournament finals (Euro 2016, World Cup 2018 & 2022). He was so close to becoming the second manager in history to win the World Cup twice after Vittorio Pozzo (1934 and 1938 with Italy). So yeah, people need to have some respect for Deschamps. He has earned the right to be given a four-year contract extension with Les Bleus.
