  • The 2023 Transition TransAM is BAAACK. When Transition told me this bike was coming I got really excited. I'm thrilled to be able to showcase it today and take a deeper look at what this bike is all about. Transition makes fun bikes, and this bike looks like it's going to be a blast as well. Steel frame, 150mm travel, slack head angle, long reach, and short stays mean this thing should party. Where would you ride this thing?

I’ve owned both. Sirius is too slack and stack too low in my opinion. Also wish it had steeper seat angle. The Transam is perfect so far. The only reason I’d say to get the Sirius is to run a 120 fork.

I think that the un-sagged geo of an all around Hardtail Trailbike should be 76* STA, 64* HTA. So this bike is just about right. I also thinks this bike has the right sweet spot so that you could build it up with a 160mm burly Enduro fork or a 140mm light-weight Trail fork. It would perform well with either fork.

Nice bike. I still have my old Vassago Jabber, but it uses a lot of old standards and the choice of replacement parts is thin these days. Also, it was really only designed for a 80mm fork. Now, that sounds like a real unique frame with great geometry. Like you, I would like it to be a smooth ride any day of the week. It looks very capable right out of the box. I love the short seat tube, short chain stay length and sliding drop outs. It is so nice. It could probably handle about any trail nicely too!
P.S. Steve I took my Roscoe 7 down to Texas and learned how to preload into small drops off the Galveston sea wall. I found a great place on the seawall that went from the sidewalk off the seawall onto sloping grass. It really helped me learn to do drops.

@@jalenmoore88 The galfer pro pads were a solid upgrade over sram organic pads, easy to feel the improvement. More power off the top without being grabby and even more power deeper into the pull. My fingers are grateful, happy I made the change. Oh! Steve you have to read this!
I love the idea of you reviewing electric bikes. I think it is a real good idea. I certainly want to learn much more about them. I think you could even build a playlist on this very hardtail party channel just for ebikes! That would actually be very useful right here on hardtail party because I love hardtails, but I also think ebikes are amazing.
This is where I need your help. You have the knowledge to tell us about how to use ebikes in comparison to hardtails. How would an ebike compare to a hardtail in Sedona?
I would be very, very interested in hearing about it. Also, my friend Todd Huston who climbed all of the highest peaks in the United States just got an ebike. He was brought to tears. Because as a teenager he was in a boating accident and had to have his legs amputated.
So he set out to climb all of the highest mountains in each state including Denali. He was successful with amputated legs. But guess what? He still could not ride a bike without too much pain so he was just able to get an ebike. It was so good for him that it brought him to tears. Yes! Review ebikes for us please. There is no one more qualified than you to compare ebikes to hardtails. Build a playlist. It is a great move!

I’ve got aluminum hardtails but I’m ready to try a good steel frame at a price like this.

Steel frames have a warmth in ride quality… and that makes them my favorite.

I bet you could get the overall weight down significantly with a wheel swap. Those WTBs have always been solid for me, but they're definitely on the heavier side.

What is the ride feel between carbon and steel. I was riding a Yeti ARC for a couple of year's, and moved to a FS. I'm thinking of going back to an HT again. I can't afford to keep 2 bikes . The transam seems really interesting to me. BTW - 54 yrs old and not ready to hang it up just yet. I think a HT makes me make better decisions on the trails.

Very nice, and clean looking frame...only this dropper hausing ;/ It's could be internal, then It would be sweet build.

Nice to see Transition bringing a hardtail again! BTW Steve, i see a lot of bikes come with those WTB wheelset, what's your opinion on them? Never been on them before.

      @hardtailparty  Před 6 měsíci +1

I like that the rims are wide, so the tires don't burp at low pressures. They're not the world's most durable or light, but they're fine for an entry level bike. They're not going to blow you away like a great wheelset. Engagement is meh.

Last year I bought a Yelli Screamy to replace my old 27.5 TransAM. I'm liking the YS, but if given the option I would have just bought this instead. I can't wait to see the full review!

I love the yelli screamy. I just wish it wasn't quite as stiff. But I love the geo.

You can easily buy seatpost shim to convert to fit a 30.9 into a 31.6.
    Cane creek make one.

I’m not knocking this so cool. But my San Quentin 3 Ardents (LARGE) exo 2.4x29 tubless one up 240mm dropper 30.9mm post and a 50mm stem with park tool pump and specialized bottle cage was couple tenths over 31lbs. Bike did come with those tires so both probably same weight House wheels deore 12spd tanker. The 170 cranks are almost 900g 😂
Just saying pretty bike. Color is awesome. I don’t really care about sliding drop outs “Less things” for me the better. But almost six one feet so I can wheelie 440 CS. Great video sir

29ers, 12 speeds, burly forks, and droppers all add to the overall weights compared to 2013

Very cool bike. The chrome version is my jam. As always i wonder if it could fit a 3.0 with the sliding dropouts all the way back.

Ticks a lot of boxes for me. I prefer a more shallow seat tube angle though. Partly my proportions. Long femurs and legs for my height. 31 inch inseam but I’m 5’4". A bit of a tank though.
