- Jeff Wittek is still suffering with vision problems almost three years after his horrible accident. At first he didn’t realise just how bad his injuries were, but now it seems he may need surgeries on his eye for the rest of his life. Jeff’s ex-friend, David Dobrik, was the one who did this to him. And despite remaining friends after it happened, their relationship has soured over the past year. So much so that Jeff has filed a lawsuit against David, suing him for a huge sum of money.

Truly a horrifying situation. Losing your eye is terrifying enough but getting a life-altering brain injury can result in severe mental illness and early death. Dobrik needs to be under the jail for this. His lack of remorse is unforgivable.
IMO he lacks basic empathy, maybe he’s a psychopath but I think that the fame, ego, and life of a filthy rich influencer who is the ringleader and basically the boss of a ton of other influencers all went to his head.
David sees himself as perfect, being able to do no wrong, and when something bad happens, he only thinks about himself. He said “(the accident leading to Jeff’s injury) was the worst thing that ever happened to me”. That tells a lot. He only offered to pay for his medical bills (which he didn’t even do) in order to keep Jeff in the vlog squad and make himself look better. And once the heat died down and no one was coming after him (pre Jeff documentary) he ditched Jeff, cause he had nothing to gain from paying for his bills, or even just talking to him.

no means am I a dobrik fan but jeff made the decision to grab onto the excavator because he thought it would be sick content and now that he sees a quick bag hes suddenly not friends with the person who made him blow up? Yeah it was a bad decision by everyone involved but to turn on everyone involved is snake behavior. Dobrik and Wittek are both snakes believing or trusting in internet personalities is a farce and we all need time away from the internet improving our own lives. Have a great day!

I actually disagree that Jeff is even partially to blame just for agreeing to do the stunt because he has not control over what happened. If someone messes around while driving a car and gets in an accident, harming their passenger, they are 100% to blame. The passenger isn’t blamed for agreeing to get into the car because they have no control over the driver’s actions or the vehicle itself.
Yes but there is no direct danger when getting into a car with someone else driving. Yes, things can happen on the road, but billions of cars drive everyday and the percentage of those that crash and result in injuries would be a ridiculously low number in comparison. This stunt on the other hand could be determined by anyone to be stupid and dangerous. There are countless factors as to why this could result in injury or death. Literally just watch the footage and try to determine how at any point this could be considered NOT dangerous. Low water level, poor stability, no protection, inexperience with the excavator, and the fact hes legit just tied by a rope to the arm of the excavator. He knew it was dangerous and he willingly went ahead with the stunt. I do feel bad for him obviously, but you cant say he didnt know it would be extremely dangerous

What 30 year old man would let a 23 year old with zero heavy machinery experience swing them around? Even if he was expecting it to be more gentle, he was letting a very young adult, who has been known for his reckless behavior, swing him from a piece of heavy equipment. Obviously David is mostly to blame, seeing as how being young and reckless isn’t an excuse, but as a grown ass man officially in your 30’s, he should have the common sense not to let that situation happen. He definitely has blame in this.
@@moodwrx The thing is others also got on the swing and no harm were done because it was in moderate speed, not saying it was completely harmless but an injury wouldn't be a life and death situation. As Jeff said David pulled a prank on him and accelerated the speed and that's where it went wrong. It's all on David

Shame all this happened to him, I do think he’s one of the most unique creators on the site, which is strange considering he came from a group of cookie cutter vloggers, but his barber show was definitely very unique in the sense that nobody else was doing anything like that on the site.
I do sympathize with him a lot, especially with understanding how physical changes to your body effect you mentally from personal experience.
I just hope that soon he’ll get everything finished up with that eye and can go back to living his life free of thinking when the next surgery will be. Man deserves every penny of that 10 mil lawsuit.

He had no reason to expect that David would go so fast, and David should have known better. It's like agreeing to a stunt where you do a motorcycle jump, and at the last minute, they make the jump wider. Doesn't matter that you sign up for something dangerous if other people make it extra dangerous.

you can't blame Jeff for this. They clearly said that he had to swing it slow and David did the opposite. He pulled a prank on him on purpose. Jeff only consented to do it slowly.
I feel so fucking bad for Jeff. He reminds me of my childhood best friend, they are the types to hate talking about tragedies of their lives because they don’t wanna come across as weak or depressing, they just want people to have a good time around them, really leaned back, and they are fiercely loyal. But when they are loyal to bad people, it fucks them over hard.
IJeff is one of those people who doesn’t like taking pity points and would rather figure shit out themselves. So the fact that Jeff is even OPENLY talking about this and genuinely saddened and felt betrayed that his friend left him in the dark and knowingly took advantage of Jeff’s loyalty and his private nature, is completely heart breaking to witness and more than we need to know about David. I hope he gets sued, deported, and never get to hurt another human being ever again with these videos.
It is a blessing in disguise because he was easily the most original and unique creator out the vlog squad. I don’t think there is a single channel from the vlog squad that isn’t dead besides Jeff’s and David’s.

Someone swung on the excavator before Jeff did and she didn't get hurt, she was shaken up as one would be but nothing went crazy and nothing bad happened, so it's reasonable that Jeff would think it looks fun and not expect to get injured especially so severely. He is not to blame at all for what happened, David operated the excavator much more recklessly when Jeff was on it which is what resulted in his injuries.
Dobrick really just unironically thought, "Man it really sucked when I almost killed that guy, I did not have a good time. Probably the worst day of my life ngl." I think that level of narcissism leaks into sociopathic territory.
I got hit by a truck going 50+mph. It shattered my legs. My brain was bleeding. I had blood clots in my lungs. I almost died a few times. He had no insurance, admitted to racing another car and now I'm just screwed.

This nearly falls 100% on David. Jeff got up there on the swing under the impression the operator would continue swinging it safely as he did with the other people for HOURS. David went at unsafe speeds and stopped abruptly. Operator is at fault here… if I get in a car with a friend and they go 76mph in snow and wreck causing me to need life long care for my injuries that’s NOT on me.

This hits really close to home. My story isn’t even half as bad, but after numberous dislocations, I had my second shoulder surgery, and I had to stop doing all of the fitness stuff that I was super passionate about. For a whole year, I felt like I was wasting away on that damn couch. I couldn’t imagine how Jeff must be feeling

@@falcon8105 oh I’ve finally recovered and have been easing back into all of my fitness and active hobbies. Getting back into the rhythm of going to the gym was definitely not as easy as I thought it would have been though

I'm coming back home this upcoming week from college, and I'm going to try to make a comeback into my fitness and health because it's taking a toll after just my first year. However, I'm glad you've recovered and hope you'll get back to full strength

The fact people said he's being dramatic for not getting a text is crazy, I sure would want a fuckin text from my "friend" if they almost killed me, I better be seeing some "OH SHIT DUDE, I'M SORRY, I'LL PITCH IN WHATEVER TO HELP. The main thing that I think excludes him from responsibility is the contrast in intensity from how David swung Jeff. He swung the other people around at a safe speed and the way he swung around Jeff was completely different.

That's insane that people would comment on his physical appearance and not know what happened to him! Especially if they follow or know of him. His accident is a huge event in his life. That's crazy to think. I think it's one of the things I remember of David's Vlogs. I think the support is super important too. Again, it's crazy cause I feel like David is super well off and comfortable, spending a large amount on any of his videos in the past for sure. Also don't think with the explanation of him spinning the excavator counts too much when David did the excessive thing to push it to the limit. Specifically when previously for anyone else was a different take of speed and outcome 🤷

I actually don't think Jeff holds any blame whatsoever for what happened to him - no matter how many times David asked him up there, he only kept saying yes because he clearly trusted David.
Imagine suffering lifelong injuries, going through something extremely traumatic that could've killed you, then the person who's fault it was comes out and goes 'oh yeah, that was the worst day of my life.' The only reason David thinks it was the worst day of his life is because it 1.) exposed to the internet the type of person he really is, 2.) cost him money in hospital bills and now 3.) is going to cost him even more in legal costs because of his continued taunting from afar & refusal to pay Jeff's hospital bills, despite it being his fault.
I 100% believe that if David left things along and paid Jeff's hospital bills, Jeff would feel he has the closure he needs and would leave David well alone. Play stupid games...

Yeah that’s kind of crazy how David wasn’t there for Jeff emotionally. If I did that to my friend, I’d be on the hospital everyday, if not, as much as I possibly could to support him. I can’t imagine leaving my best friend alone while he’s experiencing trauma and from something I am to blame for. Yes David paid for Jeff’s hospital bills, but he still was posting about his life and how happy he is. Again, if it were me and my friend in that situation, I would legitimately go off the grid social media wise because I wouldn’t even be thinking about it. I’d just be thinking about supporting my friend.
Dobrik could very well just take the responsibility as a man and pay for everything as Jeff was his friend. He has all the money in the world. This just shows his true nature.

David has always been jealous of Jeff. I’m willing to bet the psycho did it purposely and couldn’t control his hatred of his “friend”. Watching Jeff surpass him in every way possible, having women throwing themselves at him. Gaining massive popularity while David is losing his. He knew he’d be able to play whatever happened off as an “accident”. With enough money, he could make any consequence go away.

I’m glad you covered this. But one thing you’re wrong about is: the fault does not fall on Jeff. It falls on the operator of the excavator. Just like in other situations such as drunk driving, it’s the driver that’s criminally prosecuted and can be sued by the passengers whether they knew they were drunk or not. David had the responsibility to not operate heavy machinery with a person attached to it. I doubt he was even licensed. Jeff didn’t agree to go high speeds then abruptly stop, slamming into the side of the excavator. Complete fault falls on David, especially in the lawsuit.
My mother lost one of her eyes as a teenager in the 70s, definitely wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Shame David gets away with it
Blaming Jeff for this is like blaming the passenger in a car accident. Let's say you were my passenger and we were going to a party, yet I drive carelessly and skip a stop sign and we crash. Are you to blame for going with me? Are you to blame for wanting to go to the party?

He agreed to do it slowly. Even if he didn't David still took responsibility of the crane and moved it around. David really can't sit here and tell us that every waking moment his actions "haunts" him, when he moved on with his life like normal. Also, when David was addressing the medical bill not getting paid, he didn't once mention that he personally reached out to Jeff to get the issue resolved.
He changed how he looked and half blinded him. David deserves whatever he gets.
