  • I get asked every single day on how far away you need be to get a reading on your Spy Hawk Pro-10G GPS Detector. The answer is about a Foot. 6 inches Ideal but you will get accurate readings if the car is in motion at a foot (12 inches) away. spygeeks.com/product/spy-hawk...
    To get a good reading like this I had to go out to the country and turn off put my cell phone and ipad in Airplane mode. For some of you to even get close to All Green status you will have to hold down the Homing Button on the Spy Hawk.

    Physically looking is definitely the best bet! I have a scanner to check for units, but units that go to sleep make it difficult. Make sure the vehicle has been in motion for a few minutes before checking, and you will usually have a few minutes to check before it goes back to sleep. I have deployed a LOT of trackers and there are only so many good spots to place them. If you look for one, you can probably find it.

      Great advice and the reason I imply that the physical inspection is always best in the video.

    How do you find camera and listening devices in your home

    Couldn’t you trailer the car in question so you can check under the car and everywhere possible while the car is in motion and you could even have car running and in drive if needed unless it’s powered off the Tpms sensors

    I need to find a spytec that is hard wired in to my car. What do you suggest?

    • @spygeeks1
      @spygeeks1  Před 3 lety

      hard wired is most commonly known as the OBD Port. Every vehicle made after 1996 has one. Some old school trackers could have a positive and negative wire ran the battery. If it's after market, it's probably suspect.

    Interestingly enough, we hired a vehicle from Avis/Budget in Cape Town Airport and we received three speeding tickets from Avis, but the third was in an area where it was impossible to reach the speed suggested on the ticket. Each fine had the same image of the vehicle suggesting that it was taken by a roadside camera. I always suspected that a tracker was fitted to the vehicle and our usage information was downloaded after we returned the vehicle and subsequently they generated a ZAR850 fine for each of the misdemeanours/offences. Needless to say we did not pay the third and nothing more was heard.

      Trackers Are wherever they are placed. I believe you are talking about Lojack. That is only on when the car is stolen and the customer calls it in.

    IF THE CARS IN MOTION AND THE TRACKER IS LOCATED BEHIND THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT OR BEHIND THE PANEL NEXT TO THE STEERING WHEEL , THEN IT SHALL DETECT A SIGNAL...ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR..LIKE YOU SAID, IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO DETECT IT

    Not a real accurate test Bro ... should've had 2 people testing & toggle the GPS puck tracker on/off at various distances or maybe sticking it to the side of a moving vehicle while tailing the moving target at various distances etc.
    Overall, I applaud your detection equipment ... it DOES detect ... and efforts to post.
    I am of the belief that your detector will pick up the tracker at far greater distances if tested better.!.

      @spygeeks1  Před 6 lety

      Very True and thanks for your input. I'm afraid at greater distances Cell Phone interference would have been a factor. Also most of my customers don't want to get 2 people involved as their trust is already worn thin. Check my other Video I post yesterday on how to Block a GPS which is way easier than trying to detect it.

    One foot is kind of useless for detection.

    • @spygeeks1
      @spygeeks1  Před 3 lety +1

      What's even harder is getting within a foot when the vehicle is in motion.. It all comes down to the physical inspection and knowing what to look for. I wish the detection range was greater.
