I found POISON in my PANTRY!! And you might have it too!

  • POISON is what I found while cleaning and organizing our pantry!! How did it get there? What can I do to get rid of it? This year my family has decided to throw out all the conventional ways of easy cooking and convenience foods. We are moving towards a new way of life..more holistic, with whole foods, all organic, and home grown garden produce. Better food, better health, better life! I know it is going to be more planning and hard work...but what we eat is the most important thing that we do all day. Food is medicine or it is poison. I want to serve medicine to my family. Join us as we embark on this new journey. It will be full of progress and mistakes, as we try new things such as tinctures, salves, fermentations, canning, homesteading, gardening, and so much more. ❤️

    Strong work folks, keep going down the right path. Please seek a food pantry or something that will take that "poison" food and give it to someone that can't afford to be healthy. So many folks need to eat. Search for those that take care of kids.

    I truly wish I would have done what you are doing 20 years ago, my health would be so much better and so would my children's.

    One thing is to water in the evenings or very early morning, especially if you use a sprinkler. The drops become a lot of tiny magnifying glasses in full sunlight.

      Another thought for you is to make sure there's enough air to flow between the plants. I learned this the hard way this past summer. Soaker hoses work well too. I think because it's so hot there, you'll want to water the roots and not the leaves. The leaves will act as an umbrella and the roots won't get all the water they need. Good for you for trying to get back to organic and treating your bodies well! A good channel to follow is Acre Homestead. She's an organic learn as you go gardener that I really enjoy.

    I’m glad you are going organic. Wonderful thing for those who can afford it, like some of us. But right now as high as everything is, and the shortages, what you are putting in the garbage donate it to a food bank, or church. Some people will need it and will not care if it’s organic or not. I’m sure that’s what you’ll do with it anyway. Have a wonderful blessed day.

    I don't do well on grains/flours, unless they are sprouted ancient styles like you mention in the recent Haxman video. I eat mostly meat and fermented foods... but if the alternative is starvation...
    If you already do canning, look into fermenting (if you haven't already). I'm also going to start preserving citrus since it's so easy and I can't get produce reliably (or grow those here).

    • @homewithkim
      @homewithkim  Před 2 lety +1

      We haven't learned canning yet, but that will be coming soon. We have dabbled in fermenting, but defiantly want to explore more because it is sooo good for you. Lots to learn! 😁

    Hi, I'm new here. I watched this video a few weeks ago and I ❤️ your honest responses to things, I am a mum who is in that constant voyage navigating one small very picky eater. We have been trying to eat healthier over the last few years and it's so hard on a tight budget with that one little that will not eat if he doesn't like what's served. I end up making two meals sone nights (please no hateful words I am not proud of this) just so he isn't hungry. I want to start grinding our own wheat, as you convinced me of the healthful benefits of it. Do you have any tips for picky eaters (he will be 6 May 4th) and have you tried making homemade pasta? He loves noodles. Sorry for the novel, love your channel!

    • @homewithkim
      @homewithkim  Před 2 lety +1

      I love novels! Glad you are here! I have three girls and my middle child has always been the picky one. My only tip is make your meal for everyone and include something within that meal that he already likes. That's what I do, because this mama just makes on meal :) That will cut down on your stress and put you back in the drivers seat. He will probably be more encouraged to try new things if he is happy with seeing something he already likes among new foods to try....does that make sense? Parenting can be a challenge but he won't starve if all he eats are his potatoes. I hope this helps! Pasta making is on the books!

      @@homewithkim it does, it got much easier once I convinced him that spaghetti noodles taste like other noodles lol thank goodness for pasta at this point! That's a big part of why I'm interested in milling whole wheat berries, he likes his pasta and breads, thanks for responding! Take care ❤️
