    The funniest thing is in position 3 there are only 5 legal moves, and in 1601+ elo the rank 3rd move was chosen by the 5% of player, so the other 2 moves must have been chosen by equal or less than 5% of players. 44 + 29 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 88% so it means that 12% of players played an illegal move, and I think Qxd4 as illegal move is the best choice. I would definitely play that move in this position if I am in a tournament

    In a normal game, most "good" moves lead to a slightly better position. In this series, however, most lead to a completely winning position. I think this messes up people's heads when you do indeed show positions without a completely winning move. I think you should just say it when there's no completely winning move.

    From 5:40 I wasn't happy with the explanation that this leads to damaging whites pawn structure, because I thought white would do Qe2. I ran it on stockfish for a while and to me it seems that the general problem is that trading queens means whites position becomes very passive, the rooks having to stay guarding b2, the bishop on h6 and knight on c3 are also passive.
    Edit: it seems stockfish would reply Qe2 after I let it search to depth 41...

    First puzzle was Qa5 for me, which is a good enough move and keeps the pieces with some threats. Qd7 can always be kicked by the rook. If rook takes pawn variation with Qd7, black can compensate with Qa8 then Bg7, pawn for a pawn, but losing all initiative and be quite worse if white pushes center pawns. Qe2 after the best move instead of the rook e2 defense risks the drawish queen trade.

    I hate immortal chess for the one and single reason of rating mismatches. I am not a 2000. On my best day Im maybe an 1850 and on my average day im like 1740. And I only get put with either really good people or really bad people. Also those elos aren't what I'm rated on the websites. Thats my official elo.

    • @wcheng2795
      @wcheng2795 Před 2 lety

      The reason is, that its only one move. For example in the first one, a sub 1000 maybe sees that Qd3 attacks the undefended rook and plays it. The sub 1000 doesnt play this move with the idea to damage whites pawn structure after the queen trade and get a slightly better endgame.
