Well done! You camptured his metal guitar to this day, the blue and black bat guitar. I had 3rd row for melon cholie and he started with where the boys fear to tread. A one string right rig, but those demarzios plus a quality body strat rivaled ant meta guitar I’ve heard. I’m inspired.”, I’m folllowing your lead rather than buying his Reverend
This tone is absolutely " Jurassic" bro. I have the BC series P-ups on a Rose Strat. Still tinkering with the chain. Do you find the neck pickup really muddy in the BC?
How do these compare to the RSB lace sensors, specifically for high gain usage? I'm looking to get a set of the lace sensors but I haven't really found any videos of people using them in situations I would use them.
+Randall Williams Here's a vid with the RSB set. I just felt like they weren't as open sounding as the new Dimarzios. czcams.com/video/QJLZ8z_BBhU/video.html
+BJ Russell tone was totally on point in that video. Thanks for the comparison. Would you recommend getting an '81 Hardtail strat? I've found one for a good price but I've been debating on whether or not to get it because I am content with my Mim standard strat. What are some upsides and downsides if you can think of any?
+Randall Williams I like a more weighty strat so it's a no brainer for me. They sound nothing like the ones with the trem so go for it! More in the SG realm with their own thing going on. Play it first of course.
+BJ Russell unfortunately it is online but I've been following this specific guitar for some time. The guy selling it now bought it from Chicago Music Exchange and he said he didn't play it much because he already had a strat. He said he hasn't found any problems with it. If I like the feel and playability of my current strat, would this one feel different to me other than weight? I originally wanted a Hardtail strat with a big headstock but they don't come by often. I've only been playing for 2 years and part of me feels I don't deserve such a nice instrument.
+Randall Williams It may be a different neck shape from the other strat but shouldn't been too odd for you. Otherwise i bet it's a killer hardtail. If you can get a good deal on it why not? :D
Why do I not see you playing this guitar much? Don't you like it anymore? This is the guitar I am trying to build, piece by piece. I have 1 (one) of the pickups so far, and nothing else. Eventually I will have everything I need to get what you already have.
@@spguitar Of course, I'm certainly not implying that you should NOT do what you want with your own guitar(s)! LOL You got a great deal for it, that's for sure. Anyway... I dropped that Corgan BC-2 pickup into the bridge of my 2006 Strat today, after pulling the stock one out of it. I'm very impressed with the tone of this particular DiMarzio and the dynamic range that it provides. Sounds awesome! I'll probably put a Chopper in the neck, and a rather generic-high-output-RW/RP pup in the mid position just to be able to get the same switching options as the Corgan strat, and to stay hum-free throughout. Thanks for your reply.
99% of guitar youtubers could learn from this video. no talking straight to the point. thank you!
Nobody wants to hear me blab about it. 🤘
and those 99% of those guitar CZcamsrs should stop playing blues and dad rock on demos
It's a 1974 body paired with a 1976 neck. I got my cousin to paint it.

Dude dont sleep on his Rev. Check my new videos for the Rev through his personal VH4!
One can have all of the equipment… but, one must be able to play it…which this dude does!!! 👊🏻🔥
Yay! Gish songs! More of those please!
You nailed the tone perfectly, great stuff
Nope the Herbert doesn't need a noise gate at all. I love it.
This is a killer sound. So dialed in!!!
Your rig sounds awesome.
Thanks! I sold the Herbert but i have Billy Corgan's VH4 now.
@spguitar I'm a BC fan also. I just bought an American Hardtail with HS2 Dimarzios. Rock on friend!
Youve got billy’s amp, guitar and even the Tone ! Sick as awesome !
Check out my newer vids for Billy's actual VH4. I sold this Herbert.
The algorithm has blessed thee
Check out my IG @ smashingpumpkinsgear
Herbert is a beast. Mine says hi.
I loved it but sold it when i got the Corgan VH4. I want a MkIII version next.
@@spguitar I've played the MkIII at the Diezel factory in Germany. It's a beast.
Where you aaare? Tristessa!!!
;) great! :D
that amp is fantastic!
Sounds good!! I love it
sick guitar
It would be cool if you ran through the cleans and dirty sounds on each pickup. I'm thinking about getting these.
Did you get the pickups separately or get the whole pick guard setup??
I got the pickguard pre-wired.
Do you still like Corgan's pickups in the Strat? I found them way too bassy.
They are tecnically humbuckers right?
What bridge do you have on it? Looks awesome! Need to replace mine soon, I have a replica of this Strat as well
Just a standard fender hardtail bridge with String Saver Saddles.
Did you paint the body or it came that way ?!

Are those pickups as good as Duncan Hotrails?

I sold it to someone in china for $1600. Needed the cash. Check my new videos for his awesome Reverend signature.

nice tone !! any idea what preamp & power tubes
in that Herbert of yours?
I sold it but at the time I think it had JJ EL34BST.
@@spguitar Thanks love ya clips !! seems your a big billy corgan fan haha.... did ya just happen to recall the preamp tubes used in ya Herbert?
@@chuajsjs2853 Huge Corgan fan! I used the EH 12ax7s. Always liked those in the Herb. Billy had JJ6L6s and EI 12ax7s in the VH4 I have now.
@@spguitar Thanks !! i will load some 6L6 into my Herbert and see if it has a better tone too....
Do you have a noise gate on that set up...it sounds REALLY good!
are you using 250k or 500k pots?
I think i had 250ks in it. It was a pre-wired pickguard.
Hi BJ, when a cover of Tonight, tonight??
Can somebody please tell me the name of this blue??? I need it
I had it custom mixed with Dupont car paint. It's just a really dark blue.
nice guitar. can you do cherub rock?
you should put the stickers on it too i have a link for you to get them they are $15 off etsy
I sold the guitar to someone in China last year. Miss it.
BJ Russell damn
Is it a pretty versatile guitar??
Sounds loud and drive, just like BC on stage..
I kinda miss this strat. Sold it to a guy in China. Check out my latest videos for Billy's amp from the Machina tour and his Reverend sigs.
what’s your amp settings ?
Sorry I don’t remember. I sold the Herbert a few years back.
:)
