@@WorstEvil. Dont get me wrong but origami king is the newest paper mario game and it is 4th place out of all 7 games. And on top of that Original is older than ttyd and he put ttyd over original.
No he doesnt hate newer games he just did not like their style or liked those games hut perfered the style of an older game compared to the newer ones.
Mine is pretty much the same, with the only diference is having Color Splash over Paper Jam, I feel like Color Splash is extremely underrated.

Also I completely agree with the paper jam take, its like Kirby in Smash: SO MUCH POTENTIAL and they threw it out the window. Still loved it though.

Paper Jam is technically more of a Mario & Luigi game than a Paper Mario game.
Also, while I wouldn’t call it a bad game, it’s very weak compared to the other games in the series.
Origami king is actually a great game. I love it SO MUCH. I got it when I came out. It was actually amazing. There were real sad moments in it. It actually made me cry.

You put SUPER below Origami King!? The turn based battle in Origami King got so old so fast, while Super still had the best story and a lot of the other concepts that made Paper Mario good. TOK felt just like a "There, HAPPY!?" from Nintendo with its returning mechanics. Also, pavement.

I never got to play TTYD and I see its coming out on the Switch soon should I get it? Literally the first one I played was Origami King and the battle system is INCREDIBLY annoying but I love the open world play
Yes you should get it, if you havn't played PM64 it's battle system is an improved version of PM64. Have you played PM64? If not it's on Switch so you can get an idea of what TTYD will play like. Not only is the world fun to explore but the battle system is actually good unlike Oragami King plus you also get a far better story than Oragami King, Color Splaah and especially Sticker Star.
If they ever remake CS on the switch, im buying it immediately. One of my all time favs.

Origami kings battle style is terrible for me. It doesn’t click at all and I do not have fun. Sadly I’ve still not finished that game. It’s really good in every part that’s not combat
Paper Mario 64 is the only Paper Mario game I can tolerate because it had many references to Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island.
For me it goes
7. Sticker Star (Yes, everything that has been said before. The combat is terrible, the story is terrible, there’s no unique characters or world environments, the puzzles in the game are terribly designed leaving you with no indication of what to do. Although, chapter 4 is okay with the enigmansion being genuinely fun to go through but the rest of the game is just a slog. And whoever thought it would be a good idea for bowser not to speak at all completely dropped the ball)
6. Paper Jam (Essentially like sticker star with its characters and worlds however the story is slightly better and the gameplay is much better than sticker star but nothing compared to the previous Mario and Luigi or paper Mario games)
5. Color Splash (In some ways a huge improvement over Sticker Star. The writing is so much better and the worlds have a bit more creativity to them. The worlds feel like mini chapters, feeling like they took the idea of the enigmansion and built on it. I overall did enjoy it a lot but the battle system was terrible however the graphics were gorgeous.)
4. Origami King (Definitely by far the strongest of the new Paper Mario Trilogy. I loved the writing and the world felt much more alive with it being fully interconnected like the original two. In some ways it could make top 3 games for me, however it still suffers a bit from the characters designs. However I did love the graphics again. Initially I thought I’d hate the idea of the legion of stationery being the bosses but the writing for them was just excellent and the battle system itself for the bosses was excellent and I found it really engaging and required a lot of strategy. However the same can’t be said for the regular battles which are generally just pointless and a bit of a chore. But overall it does feel a lot like the original 2 games with its progression which does give it extra points but it’s lack of many original characters brings it down a bit. The story is an improvement over the previous 2 games with Olly and Olivia and they brought bowser back to his role in the games being fun and comic relief)
3. Super Paper Mario (First Paper Mario I played. The gameplay is okay but nothing special. Where the game really shines a lot is in its story which is absolutely incredible and it’s atmosphere. I think if it wasn’t for the story and it’s characters this game wouldn’t be this high and origami king might’ve overtaken it but as it stands I have to have this game at number 3.)
2. 64 (The original game is simply fantastic. It has the basic bowser kidnaps peach storyline however there’s extra layers and details to it which is where the game just really shines imo. The characters are memorable, the chapters are memorable and the gameplay is great too. Overall just an excellent game and I love it a lot. Plus it has my favourite chapter in the whole series with chapter 7)
1. TTYD (A cliche i know however this game imo is just the pinnacle of what Nintendo can do when they really get creative with Mario. The worlds, the characters, the atmosphere, the story, the chapters, the gameplay all fantastic and memorable. This game really builds on what the first game did and cranks it up a lot especially with that twist at the end. I hope one day we can finally get a sequel that builds on this game like it did to the original and I’m more hopeful than ever with the remake coming next year)

Play PM64, it's on Switch Online right now, it holds up very well and it would be nice to play it before TTYD Remake comes out.
I always thought sticker star was amazing, probably because it was my first one played, but i jever knew it was this hated and its everyones least favorite. I still think its really good after playing a few other ones
Can some explain why anyone would believe the original Paper Mario is better than TTYD? I don't get it.
The areas are bigger. There’s one more partner. Ttyd does a lot of things that kinda just waste time (the backtracking in ch 4,5, and 7, or having to go to the door every chapter). The dungeons were bigger. The map/world was more cohesive (you exclusively traveled by pipe or vehicle to new lands in ttyd).
I ultimately think ttyd is better, but paper mario was a REALLY good game that definitely did some things better than ttyd. So I could see how some people like it better.
Why Delete this ?
None of these will ever top Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

@@rpgranked you’re right. imo the story in TTYD gaps every other pm game, the characters and dialogue weren’t that good in origami king, the only thing they really got right was the aesthetic

Ive played every single game on this list and i still think origami king is the best one. The first 2 games honestly to me feel very basic in comparison
I despised The Origami King's combat system. It felt like a repetitive chore. I avoided battles as much as I could.
TOKs battle system is a pretty interesting topic.
Basically it's either hit or miss, you love it or hate it. There isn't really an in between.

I would have liked oragami king if it weren't for the battle system i wish there was a way to skip it. Paper mario battles have become so annoying and made it so i couldnt finish a paper mario game past the first two. Idk why they had to go so far away from the rog turn based element just because of mario and luigi being their rpg which is such a narrow dumb way of thinking like how they ruined the new yoshi island its terrible. They can make a million 2d platformers but can only have 1 rpg when the mario world seems to thrive more from rpg games than even the platformers. Like the ones that they released that were good rpg games are some of the best like mario rpg epic first 2 paper mario and mario luigi games are epic games and the mario rabbids games are cool so idk why they are trying to limit themselves from having good content like they keep wanting to create all these gimicks and find new cool styles of games and failing like its cool they're experimenting but i wish they did it more as a side project like have gimicky paper mario games releasing but still have a main rpg style paper mario releasing
How can you rate Origami King over SPM? You can't even level up! There's no point to battles when there is no progression. The game is literally a broken mess

Because SPM is mid as fuck. It’s honestly baffling how it escaped the paper Mario hate circlejerk since it has shit level design and mediocre gameplay. The only reason people talk about it is its fanfic tier story

well in my opinion origami king is literally the best paper mario game there is. The battle system was something new, and i guess it just depends on if you like that system or not (i personally loved it), but nontheless the rest of the game was fantastic imo
