As soon as I saw Lex zoom to her happy place and start having a blast listening to the song and bouncing around there was no way anyone could dislike this song. Lex-izm is a real thing, you could be playing a bad song but if Lex is bebopping around and laughing that song takes on a whole new vibe and you can't help but like it. I loved this song way back when and I remember a friend's little sister about 8 years old dancing and just loving the sound and that is exactly what Lex has too. Don't ever lose your inner child, because if you do you will end up expressionless like 95% of the world gets when they get older and by then it's almost impossible to get that fun side of the brain back. As much as these songs are a reminder to us older crowd of how it was back then, Lex brings back the fun feeling we had back before we lost it, and now through her happiness we can relive that feeling again!

I was a stagehand for these guys. One of my jobs was to tape print-outs of the lyrics to their set list to the deck. Chuck had gotten so bad with the drugs and alcohol that now he can't even remember the words to the songs that he made famous. He survived all that, got clean and whatnot, but his brain just never was the same afterward.

"Joy to the World" was one of my favorite songs when I was a little kid back in the early 70's. Bullfrogs? Fishes? What more could a five year old boy want from a romp in the outdoors? Three Dog Night featured three great vocalists fronting a great rock-funk-soul band circa 1970. They ruled pop radio in the early seventies with over twenty top forty hits including three number ones. When you're ready for more from Three Dog Night, check out some of their other songs, "One", "Shambala", "Eli's Coming", "Easy to Be Hard", "Celebrate", "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)", "Out In The Country", "Never Been to Spain", "Try a Little Tenderness", "Ain't That A Lotta Love", "Out In The Country", and "Black & White" among others.

Part of the wallpaper of my youth, a great time for music. The name "Three Dog Night" supposedly refers to a phrase meaning a night so cold that you needed to sleep with three dogs. P.S. It's not a Christmas song cover, but an original, fun/nonsense song.

Around 5 years ago, I arrived EARLY to get seats for my family & nephews at Christmas kids-choir & mass. After the kids sang, they announced the entrance song "Joy to the Word". And a VERY happy and LOUD 4 year old kid yelled out "I KNOW THIS ONE- "Gegimigga was a bullfrog!!" -The Choir DIDN'T sing Three Dog Night THEN, BUT after the service, they DID get the little kids to sing a few verses "Joy to the World, to ALL the boys and girls, Joy to the Fishes in the Deep Blue Sea, Joy to You and Me."

Chuck Negron was on the Stern show once and told a story about touring the US during Three Dog Night’s hey day and how many many groupies he had and he developed a blood blister on his Johnson and at one concert he hooked up with Miss Oklahoma and the blister burst and he went to the doctor and he was traumatized because he had no idea if he’d ever be able to use his Johnson again or if he was going to get stitches and the doctor said this happens all the time! 😂

Love Three dog night. I remember being about 4 or 5, out in the backyard on the swing set, I can still smell the honeysuckle that surrounded the yard, mama was hanging clothes on the line and I was singing this song as loud as I could. That was nearly 50 years ago but it feels like it was just yesterday.

I did a Warrior Dash one time where, when my relay was at the starting line awaiting their turn, the DJ played this song. It was so funny because half the runners immediately broke out singing and dancing to it and the other half just stood there looking confused. And it was pretty obvious that the singer/dancer half were the elders.

This was written by Hoyt Axton (mainly a country artist/writer) who also wrote "Never Been To Spain" for Three Dog Night
Hoyt Axton's mother, Mae Axton, co-wrote the Elvis hit "Heartbreak Hotel."
When "Joy To The World" hit #1 (and stayed for 6 weeks), the Axtons became the only mother-son team to each be credited with writing a #1 record.

Three Dog Night were very popular in the U.S. back in the late 60s through mid 70s. Many top 40 hits including three number ones. Three lead singers in this band--hence, the Three Dog Night name. The Drummer, Floyd Sneed, had a unique approach which can be heard in this song.
