Be careful, that's a pretty deep rabbit hole you're standing over right there. They have a lot of good songs, "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)", "Shambalaya", "Eli's Coming", "Joy to the World", "An Old Fashioned Love Song", "Never Been to Spain", "The Show Must Go On", and more.
Mama told me not to come >>>
Definitely dive down this rabbit hole, no disappointment
“Joy to the world”was their biggest hit my favorite is “never been to Spain “
Joy to the World, yeah. Somehow I always think about it as Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog.
Written by "Hoyt Axton".
@@rubbersole79
Hoyt Axton--
otherwise best known
as Mr. Peltzer in "Gremlins".
Don't abuse it, never gonna lose it, can't refuse it.
Joy to the World takes me right back to High School. Actually off their songs, but i have a specific memory of my choir being on the bus and out of town and singing that song. Just having a great song!
And you would like their song "Just An Old Fashion Love Song."
I remember “One” carpooling to elementary school. I loved it, one of my favorite sings. Just an old fashion loved Song is my fav!
How about "Joy to the World" ?
that's my favorite 👍
Three Dog Night had three lead singers, that could sing! Great musicians too. They had a lot of hits. Fantastic group. Do more of them.
Some of the great songs performed by them would be..."just an old fashioned love song" "easy to be hard" "out in the country" "ma-ma told me not to come" along with this one.
easy to be hard, out in the country
This band was all over the map. They typically didn't write their own songs. They covered songs written by others which caused their abrupt changes from record to record. But they were great judges of the material they did cover and their voices were strong and arrangements were very catchy. You WILL find something in their catalog that will appeal to you, of that I have no doubt.
The best vocal group of the 70's tragically destroyed by drugs. Chuck Negron the lead singer on this song was so strung out on heroin that he was missing for years and has since had a lung removed. He now gives counseling advice to celebrities fighting addiction.
It’s a group with 3 lead singers. All have great voices, wouldn’t hurt my feelings if u reacted to more of them. Thank you peace ✌️
THIS IS the first song I learned as a very young girl back in the 70's! When I hit older in my 30's I got to see them perform! I lived volitive lie close to Madison Square garden about an hour. I also live relatively close to Westbury Music Fair. Now what every man does is that they play Madison Square garden first. Then they go to Westbury Music Fair next. AFTER they've played those two venues gof pay? I used to be a musician called Harry Chapin which I believe you already covered his music here. He started a food bank here to feed Long Islanders. Sooo... What he does is he has a concert during the summer. Nobody has any idea about who's going to play at this FREE CONCERT! It's held out at a place called Bald Hill the Vietnam vets and other military vets help set it up. How you get in for your admission price? You have to bringing a few things of non perishable food items for the food bank AS your donation! THAT'S IT!!! YUP! So on the week OF the event it's when you find out who is playing because that's what he tells the radio stations to broadcast it. That way the bands CAN get some money from the ticket sales at the other places. Soooo... My old friend was a Vietnam vet actually told me secretly a few weeks beforehand that Three Dog Night was playing and swore me to secrecy. Sooo... That's how I got to see the concert for a bunch of canned vegetables and boxes of stuffing mix! It was one of the best concert I've ever been to in my life! WOOHOO!!!
#NYGenXBIKERLady
Once upon a time this band was huge. Other songs to consider, "Eli's Coming", "Celebrate", "Black n White", "Pieces of April", "Joy to the World". This band disappeared just as fast as they came up! They did have a good run.
Not sure how you could say they came down as quick as I came up. I got their album when I was about nine years old in 1968 and in 1975 they were still coming out with music like The Show Must Go On.
AND, I saw Danny Hutton and Cory Wells and Company well into the 2000s.....AMAZING SHOW even then!! First time I saw then though was 1970 at Ohio University!!
Don't forget"Mama told me not to come"...
clap for the wolfman
@@zynjams That was The Guess Who.
These guys filled the am airwaves with their catchy tunes back in my pre/early teens.
Ditto!
Yes!
My first concert... saw them perform many time!! Had a crush on Chuck 😀
Love Three Dog Night, all 3 had great voices! Shambala and Eli's Coming are 2 of my faves.
"The Show Must Go On", "Easy To Be Hard", "Black and White" "Joy To The World"
Seems like no one wants to do Black and White. Been recommending it for months.
@@MoMoMyPup10 Not only a great song, but it's so apropos for the world today!
From Three Dog Night, I also like 'Out in the Country.'
Black and white wasn't that flip side of joy to the world ( on 45)?
@@mcq7944 Maybe, not sure
Try reacting to Mama told me not to come, also The Ink is Black and another hit Joy to tha World.
Three Dog Night: "Celebrate"..."Never Been to Spain" and "Black and White" (especially appropriate at this time)
Seems like no one wants to do Black and White. Been recommending it for months.
Mama told me not to come , just the best
Gotta love Chuck Negron's voice. He wasn't bad to look at either....haha
I agree😁
I was 6 when this band came out, and I loved them. What I didn't realize at the time was the tight harmonies of the vocalists.
Love 3 dog night. Always have, always will. I think Chuck Negron had, and still does, one of the best voices in music. And let me tell you, no one could harmonize like this band. An excellent example of that is a song called It's For You.
Three Dog Night -Eli’s Coming Live
I saw that one.....badass!
That’s my favorite!
czcams.com/video/0CuNBengxaQ/video.html
Chuck Negron and Steve Perry two my all time favorite singers.🤗
Everything Three Dog Night came out with was a hit! Three Dog Night were mentors to the group: Journey. Please react to "Out in the Country", "Pieces of April", And "Black & White", which is quite appropriate for now. :-)
Just a bit of trivia as I understand it. Three Dog Night, got their name from either an Aboriginal term or a Native Alaskan term. One story is While dog sledding in Alaska, the band stopped for the day. After setting up their tents for the night, one member of the group ask the Eskimo guides how they could stay warm, by just using the sleeping bags, they had brought. One guide told them, they needed to take a dog inside the tent with them. The dog would then provide body heat to be shared with the tent's occupant. As they were getting ready to call it a night, the lead guide suggested they each take three (3) dogs in the tents with them, due to the extreme cold temperature. The guide told them, it was so cold that it was a "three dog night". Another story is a girl friend of one of the lead singers thought of the name, having heard somewhere about the Australian Aborigines, about them also using dogs to keep warm at night having the same type of description of using one, two, or three dogs, etc. She suggested 3 Dog Night since they had 3 lead singers.
Not sure how true any one of these stories are, but the term 2 dog night is used by both groups to describe how cold a night is, and they do use dogs to keep warm when out in the cold if necessary.
Sister, You are really great in your going thru the oldies & your way of rating. Three Dog Night will always fall into the " Classics " & they become more vintage as time goes by like fine wine. There lyrics were more than appropriate for the day in time as was their musical talents. They were interesting in a secular aspect of giving God a place in the craziness of a world that was watching Americas servicemembers coming back home in body bags from Vietnam. They kept a pretty level head while heroine was taking many down and the riots were going on for multiple issues ( ERA, STOP THE WAR- OOPS IT was preservation of peace- GONG, WRONG answer - NO peace THERE OR was there HERE ) Anyhow, they WERE PHENOMENOL THEN AND STILL ARE NOW. I LOVE YOUR CRITIQUEING SISTER & BE BLESSED IN HIM :):):)
Love this song!! You should react to Black and White. Also Shambala and One Man Band. Soooo many good ones!! Of all of them I've always liked Chick Negron's voice best.
For about 5 years this band was on top of the music world. Yes, in a time when the Beatles, zeppelin and all those other great acts were flourishing, this band took a backseat to no one
Sounds like they were a pop band, not a boy band, maybe developed to take over from the Beatles not making any more music. I liked their music, but it might not stand out in your head...
I loved them when I was a kid back in the 60s... you should hear “Eli’s Coming”...and “Old Fashion Love Song”
“
Saw them in concert twice.....it was a great show each time. Left to right: Corey Wells, Chuck Negron and Danny Hutton.
Great band with many, many hits constantly being played on the radio in the 60's, 70's and 80's. Also, one of the better "live" bands that always delivered the goods in concert. I should know, I'm pretty old. I've been around since dinosaurs roamed the Earth, hence 800+ concerts attended.
Great choice! Do Eli's Coming and Easy To Be Hard. Good band!!
Chuck Negron singing "One" was a gorgeous male!! Plus he could sing! ❤️😘❤️
This group dominated radio for about 10 years, with great songs, and 3 great singers who took turns doing the lead vocals. They all wound up having drug issues, but always had fun on stage, sometimes goofy.
1 is the loneliest number since Covid-19. This is one of my favorites from "THREE DOG NIGHT" Hugs from New York. Thank you, for posting.
Three Dog Night actually had three lead singers who were all very talented and rotated singing the lead vocals on many different songs.
Chuck Negron was the lead on this song but became very addicted to heroine and spiraled out of control and out of life.
He has missing years of his life where no one, including him know where he was.
Negron has been sober for 26 years and he’s been completely candid on how difficult it was to finally get clean.
The father of four, ruled by his love for heroin, entered rehab 37 times and at one point even lived in a cardboard box on LA’s infamous skid row.
Today he tries to help drug addicted celebrities come clean and break their drug habits.
I recently hung out with the drummer in this video (Floyed Sneed) one of the nicest and coolest musicians ever.
Eli's Coming written by the great singer songwriter Laura Nyro is another big one they did. There ere unusual because they were three vocalists singing harmonies who could each do great lead vocals too. I loved them so much back in the day, they were the first rock concert I ever attended.
I was ten years old when this came out and I loved it then as now as well as all of the Three Dog Night music. Do: Joy to the World, Black and White, Never Been to Spain and so many more, out in the country, just an old fashioned love song...
GREAT band!!
Mama Told Me Not To Come is a must do by them. Huge catalog of killer tunes. Thanks. You will love them.
Loved this group. Saw them three times live. They had three lead singers. All so good.
Great big hit for them. Love the bass groove. Another hit was “Momma Told Me”.
Mama Told Me Not to Come, Eli's Coming, Never Been to Spain, Old Fashioned Love Song, Black and White, Joy to the World, Easy to Be Hard, Shambala, The Show Must Go On, Pieces of April, Liar, Try a Little Tenderness....all of these were big hits for this band. Please check 'em out.
Three Dog Night !! Awesome band. 3 Dogs meaning they had 3 lead singers.
THREE DOG NIGHT, HAD 21 STRAIGHT CHARTING SONGS. (A RECORD). THEY HAD TONS OF HITS IN THE 70'S....Great India reaction... The 3 singers Were Cory Wells, on the left. Middle Lead singer on this one was Chuck Negron, And on the Right Danny Hutton. I Loved this group and followed them closely. All 3 sang lead on various tunes...
These three lead vocalists were legendary, if you listen to more of them you'll see. Eli's Coming is probably my favorite.
I Love Three Dog Night!! Easy To Be Hard. Joy To The World. Black And White....please do more!!
thanks, India - I've not seen the live version, but known the "studio" forever - they do a greater job live than I would have expected --
I love how open you are to listening to all this different music. Three Dog Night is a great band, their music is always so positive! (Well, ok, this one is a little sad.) Shambala is my favorite song by them, you should check it out.
Joy to the World was number 1 for over a month in 1971.
This song was written by Harry Nilsson. You might check some of his music out if you haven't already. 1941 is a wonderful song; he has a huge variety to choose from.
Three Dog Night has a song that maybe one of their most popular song. I recommend doing a reaction to their song, "Joy To The World". This is NOT the Christmas version.
Try out"Never Been To Spain" 💘
Saw them live a year ago. Of course not all original members are still living but they were still awesome!
Three Dog Nights was one of the first bands I knew and "One" is definitely my favorite. I was probably in the Kindergarten or something but people sang back in the day....fa real!!!!!
The lead singer on this one is Chuck Negron. He's still out there performing. One has passed, and the other is unknown whereabouts. Dig those crazy threads man.
drummer is from Calgary, Canada. heard it when it hit number one. couldn't miss it. like it from the go
Great singers, all three. Kick ass backup band. When they kick in it’s a great groove.
Three Dog Night were the first Boy Band.
Exceptional harmonies.
Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog.
Joy to the World
Great bunch of guys, got to hang with them for a day in 1968. Checkout “Mama told me not to come”. 3 dog night because 3 lead vocalists. Also Celebrate and Black and White.
Three Dog Night has a lot of really great songs. I love those high notes he hits. I was only a child when it came out.
"Old Fashioned Love Song"
These guys had SO MANY great song for being together for only a short while, like CCR. They could do a 3 hour concert and only play their hits. There's a really good video of "Eli's Coming", not just live, it was an actual music video.
It's not live. That's the studio recording. No matter, it's a fine song. Very powerful.
Chuck Negron is the lead singer his song "Easy To Be Hard " has that "If I Can Dream Feel from Elvis
My Fathers favorite band growing up. It was on our HiFi constantly. I like it as well.... guess it runs in the genes.
That was Chuck Negron singing. He had a lot of trouble with drugs at one time but he straightened up and now he is a counselor.
This is likely a tv appearance, but the version is their studio version dubbed over the performance. Try SHAMBALA, studio version if u can find it, by Three Dog Night. You'll love it.
You definitely should go down this rabbit hole. Maybe they will grow on you. One if my favorite all-time groups.
One of my favorite bands growing up. You need to do Eli's Coming off the album Three Dog Night Captured Live at the Forum. Please do this one soon and ty for trusting an old lady. Keep it up girl. Hugs and peace.
One of my favorites is “Out In the Country”. Also “Pieces of April” & “Liar”
Hi India, Lots of great songs by three dog night, you know when it's really cold. Check out their song, Sure as I'm Sitting Here. All the best, C.
This band is a good one to react to. They have a lot of good songs as the commenters have requested.
Great song...I was in the eighth grade when this came out
LMAO...Thanks India....I'm so old...I saw them live when I was a Sophmore in high school....1972...lol
This song was how a lot of young men returning from Vietnam finding their girlfriend had married their best friend. I was A WAC (Women's Army Corp) at the original Walter Reed. I worked on a Psych Ward for these men returning. Also worked Neurology, and Open Heart and Emergency so I saw a lot and this song definitely resonated during this time era.
Summer of '69. Also that summer: Carpenters - Close To You, Glen Campbell - "Wichita Lineman" and Stevie Wonder - "My Cherie Amour"
Each of the three singers had AMAZING voices, so many of their songs sound different from the others because they used a different lead singer. "Eli's Comin'" is my favorite along with all of the songs mentioned below!!
Tip of the iceberg, they had a bunch of great songs!!
I'm so happy you got to three dog night
Very good songs. That singer was chuck negron I had such a crush
Bringing back memories. I had the live at the forum album in jr. High school. The guy singing lead here ended up being a homeless heroin addict. Sad story
My favorite band from the 70s..along with Zeppelin,Average White Band
Hi darling. Try Joy to the World. One of my all time faves. There are so many great songs by this group you really can't go wrong. Black and White is one that's perfect for the crazy times we're in now. Also Shambala is another great one. ✌️💜
O remember when this song came out & fell in love with the song. Back in the days when musicd was raw & self written. Nice reaction
Harry Nilsson wrote
many hits for others,
but his biggest hit (No. 1)
was "Without You",
written by Pete Ham & Tom Evans
of Badfinger,
which did the original version.
Younger people are
probably only familiar
with Mariah Carey's version.
Pete Ham & Tom Evans
committed suicide
back in the '70s.
Sorry India fortunately the new CZcams uses the Facebook Messenger microphone technology which is far worse than Google had performed in the past. The last line on my long post was supposed to be the title black and white and not Vlack and white
An interesting thought if you decide to feature easy to be hard which was led off and featured Chuck is that how many years you've heard it since it will still blow your mind just like bridge or troubled waters with Garfunkel s voice in conjunction with Paul Simon's composition and arrangement as f*** did me since an arrangement has effted me since I first heard it in January of 1970 add the age of 25. Now that I'm 75 is still blows you away when you hear it. The same is with the three Dog Night song easy to Be Hard composed by Laura Nyro featuring the magnificent voice of Chuck Negron . It was a number one hit in June of 1969 but I didn't hear it until the summer of 1970. When I first heard the chilling magnificent vocal tones , and range of Negron I was also blown away to the point of having hair stand out on the back of my head just like when I listen to Paul Simon's composition bridge over troubled waters. By the way Paul Simon song is a secular rendition of the bridge over our troubles waters in this life which is Jesus Christ. If you listen to his harmony with a magnificent rolling song tones of our Garfunkel at the end you will be convinced of that. I have shared this thought with many who agree and it never talked to me before about it.
And interesting fact about the life history of Chuck nagging after he recovered from drug rehab is that he gives many presentations with arrangements with drugged court programs for addicts instead of jail as he did in the earlier to thousands on a couple of occasions in the Tulare County California drug court in Visalia which I heard. CZcams videos will show that he has been active in singing even to recent times, although he does not have the musical range tone of when he was younger.
I had their greatest hits album which ironically was entitled Golden Biscuits. It was a jam-packed with their hits. From the 70s.
One of the best vocal groups of all time. Saw them several times back in 1969 with all the original members.
I was 10 . I loved the song and all the other hits they put out over the 70s😎
One of my favorite groups. Thx I first saw them live in the early 70's. My father had a part time job as a ticket booth operator, when the venue was not sold out. the employees got to invite family members to fill in the empty seats. great show from these guy's.
To get a decent feel for Three Dog Night, you have to listen to at least six of their songs. Each is song is very different from each other. I recommend "Liar", "Never Been To Spain", "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)", "Joy To The World", "Old Fashioned Love Song" and "Shambala". There are more of course, but these should give you an idea of you want to go to the deep end of the pool.
They were very good group from the 70s had a lot of good hits
It's very rare for a band to have THREE lead singers
From Three Dog Night's Golden Bone Album, it was a song that hit the soul from the first five notes, it speaks of the heart break of lost love, all of us back then and even today those who listen to it can find something in common with the song. A timeless classic.
This was one of the biggest songs of that year and the group was all over the radio for those next few years!
I was a sophomore in college when this was released and I was an instant fan. Their harmonies and musicianship are incredible. Besides it spoke to my young woman's heart after a breakup. Another song I love is "Eli's coming". This version czcams.com/video/0CuNBengxaQ/video.html
Brings me back to my high school days. Their catchy tunes were perfect for the radio at the time.
The song that started it all for Three Dog Night
Listen to "try a little tenderness" by 3 dog night... might be something you like... each of the 3 lead singer's had a style of their own and they blended very well together...
Three dog night "Out in the Country". My favorite.
Great concert in 1969 in Portland, OR....Ike and Tina Turner opened for them❤️❤️❤️
