  • Well have I got it all wrong with the classic 90s rally specials, are they not up to the current level of modern Road rally homologation Specials! What are your thoughts on both cars.....
In conclusion the Mitsubishi Evo is Bon Jovi living on a Prayer! - GR Yaris Billy Eilish Bad guy!
GR Yaris review - Steering heaving feeling - Gearbox not as slick as expected - maybe smaller 17in rims needed - clutch feels over assisted. I remember changing a Subaru p1 to 18in and lost the feel for the car. But still a really enjoyable daily car 👏
Sorry I lost picture quality on GR Yaris as my internet went down most the weekend. Huge thank you to Karl for his GR Yaris @GRfourfun Sam SOK for his photo and camera work.

I own a GR Yaris and an Evo 9. They're both great in their own way. The biggest difference to me in terms of feel is the Evo feels more like a race car and the Yaris feels more like a road car.

Nailed it. I had an Evo 8 with the 5 MT. The driving experience was incredible. The 5MT (homologated Group N) shifter was better than the 6MT unit in the MR. It was just a light fun car. Problem was it was just so dated. The cabin, in the evening was like being in a cave with candlelight. Ultimately had to let her go. I'm about to pick up a GR Corolla (in the US) and yes I had a 93 Celica GT-Four (All Trac) and Toyotas have never been as sharp as Mitsubishis but it's all we got nowadays.

Thanks for watching - Interesting Times as these 90s Rally specials reach record prices! Really enjoyed the Yaris but the Mitsubishi is incredible. Look forward to bringing the Nissan R34 GTR out to challenge the Evo soon 😮

@@Challengetheroad That would be something mega. Make it elaborate pls. Also mics setup needs to be looked into I believe, in this video car's noise (intake/exhaust) cannot be properly heard unlike your old videos

I've done 6000 miles in my gr yaris and I take it out every day and kick it's arse. For 30 grand you can not buy a better New car. I've stuck a new air intake and exhaust on it and now it sounds like it should. I can only imagine how good these 90s legends are to drive because I've never been lucky enough to drive one so I respect your opinion 100 percent. My gr is the best car I've ever driven by a big margin and I'm gonna keep it till the day I die. Out on a wet B road today and it still makes me smile every time. Awesome little car

The Evo 5 RS was the best, most engaging, and raw Evo ever made IMO. The Evo 6.5, less so.

In the 90's I had a Sunny GTiR, (in red, one of 24 in the UK) I tried to get that feeling back over the years with various cars. The GRY seems to bring it all back to me.

Thank you . Been looking for a back to back like this with a 90s era rally special and the GR Yaris for a while ! Panned out very similar to what i thought it would.

I’ve got a Yaris. Added HKS Super Turbo Exhaust, Eventuri intake, remap, rear seat delete, added camber bolts, anti-lift bushes, upgraded torque mount bushes as well as engine and gearbox bushes, swapped the brake lines for braided lines and racing fluid and added front and rear strut braces and a short shifter gearbox kit.. Added a little more toe and increased camber angles and everything about the car has been completely transformed. The car now is more biased to oversteer and the turn in feel and braking are utterly amazing. I will never ever get rid of this Porsche-eating weapon. An utterly brilliant car.

I heard the Yaris is fantastic to drive! Looks wise I think it grows on you. I would love to see you do a video on the Abarth Competizione - 180bhp. I think they look fantastic, however interested to see what they are like to drive.

Good review on these two cars. I own a red tommi and a gr yaris and I think they behave very similar. The yaris does lack a bit of drama like the evo but with a new exhaust and a good intake its makes a bit more of the nicer sound that the evo does. Both cars definitely make you smile and want to drive them unlike a lot of the newer semi automatic cars out now.

I have the GR, it’s not a sense of occasion, it’s also a bit crashy on the road, it’s ok, wouldn’t get excited over it, I’d rather have a Cayman tbh. Cheers for the review. The modes don’t change any much, only where the power goes, no suspension change. Keep well.

I've had my Yaris worked on by Litchfield. Its a completely different proposition after all the mods. Its now as you describe the Evo, no longer a daily driver and it is raw and exhilarating on every drive. This will be icon in years to come and I use it sparingly. Wouldn't dream of selling it. I do fancy an Evo as it was a childhood obsession, but have been told not to bother as it's too similar to the Yaris. Maybe an R33 Skyline. They are all good.

Why is men of a certain age go to Bon Jovi? I despised them 😂. Anyway, it’s a great video to watch and see how the newer generation compares to these legends. I’ve had a number of JDMs over the years and loved them all but one car I had not long ago that I think is very underrated is the Subaru “not an Impreza” WRX STi. I had a 2018 model and whilst the sports seats are absolute garbage and a real letdown considering Subaru’s rich history of models, the feedback and grip are brilliant. I’d recommend trying one if you haven’t already and maybe do a video on one?

Tested a Yaris gr at millbrook and was really disappointed to be honest felt like you could get it and drive at the limit without it really needing to be driven well, the car all sorted it out for you. Totally different but compared to my gt3 at the time which you need to trail brake and learn to access it was dissapontjing

  • @markos8400
    @markos8400 Před rokem +1

Have a feeling that EVO of yours is more like a GRMN Yaris, way more hardcore out of the box. Just polybushing GRY with an good wheel alignment transforms the car. Also GRY suffers from all the new crap regulations (safety, loudness, emissions, etc..).

Bought a new GR Yaris and used to own a Red Tommi Mak. Was hoping it would live upto the hype but sadly it just didn't for me. Sold it a couple of months later for a small profit. It had nowhere near the amount of character the Evo had. Accelerating around corners was a blast in the evo, it just pulled you round like I have never experienced in any other car! It was an event to drive, the only car I actually wanted to take out even if I had nowhere to go! The only car I regret selling tbh.
