Hats off for beating Egg King in one sitting. I could never beat that boss. Legit took me a decade to beat it as Sonic. Glad you’re enjoying Rush so far. Definitely one of the greats
A couple of tips foir Altitude limit. 1. If you boost into the Parachute device and hold it, you will keep the boost effect, this lets you kill enemies while you fall. Useful for Act 1 with all the birds 2. Jumping on the UFO slows it down and slightkly lowers it, letting you hit enemies from bellow and buy time to calm down and line up for platforming of fitting into holes. 3. This applied in the stages as well but its especially useful in boss fights. Do a spin dash, then a jump. When you land you will be at top speed. Its very useful fo the final boss.
Something I love about this game is that Sonic and Blaze have this dark blue and dark purple outline respectively, but I noticed that they're missing in your stream It's not really a big deal or anything, but if you want the outline, then enabling 'edge-marking' should make them appear. It's not that noticeable in gameplay, but it looks nice when seeing a close up of the models
Is this an emulator thing? I've got the game open on my DSi right now and I can't see the outlines on character select, nor during stages, nor during special stages. There's a black outline around Sonic, but that's always been there. Edit: Blaze does have a lighter outline, which does look nice. Maybe Sonic's is blue, but to my eyes it looks black.
Alot of people dunk ion this games bosses, and make no mistake rush adventures are SOOO much better, but as my first sonic game, and like 2nd game ever, this was formative for me. What attack types are more dangerous than others, spacial awareness, effeciency in countering, recognising telegraphing etc. The game asks you to get good, and as an early experience it helped me out so much.

I bought this game on launch when I was 14, beat it 100% that same week, and Altitude Limit is THE worst set of stages in the game from a design standpoint. In a game with double verticality and no screen crunch, THIS stage SPECIFICALLY uses offscreen vertical AND horizontal hazards as cheap shots to force memorization via trial and error. Altitude Limit has a beautiful backgtound image, but that's it." XD
But Sam seriously bro, that song isn’t a remix of sonic x’s song, it is a song that was supposed to be in sonic movie 1 but it was released by speed me up. To me the song sums up sonic in the best way possible, fast and hyper, and it is not copyright if you play it ( which u really should.. ) not trying to be rude or anything but seriously listen to it!!! ❤

5:52:01 at of the end of the stream I asked you if you have heard or seen a song called “gotta go fast” the back story is that chizzy Stephens (who is a rapper) was making a song for sonic movie 1 and it sounds amazing, but sadly his business men helpers or whatever just for no reason left the project and then speed me up was made. I love speed me up and all but I think chizzy’s song deserves more love and should have been the song used for the movie bc it describes sonic as speedy, hyper, and recognizable. I was just seeing if you know the song, and if you don’t.. IT IS A BANGER SONG BRO!!! And no it is not a remix of sonic x’s theme but kind of a remix of green hills zone but EPIC!!!
Never got around to playing this or advance cos I was at Uni and broke when they came out and never got around to trying to catch up on them when I had my last job. Hopefully, when I get a new job I’ll be able to afford all the current extortionate prices for retro games. Rush has always looked intimidating tho with flipping between both screens so quickly. (And emulation doesn’t help with that cos it’s not accounting for the screen gap and feels extra disorienting. Which is why I’ve never made it thru a full LP of it lol)
Chronicles has a lot of good ideas and I like the way they tied the gizoids and the enemy clan of the Knuckles clan together the way they did. But I agree, Chronicles is quite boring, much like Forces. And if there is one thing that actually makes a Sonic game BAD… it's when that game becomes BORING. A boring Sonic game is the worst type of Sonic game. An unpolished, objectively bad Sonic game… you can have fun with that, and you can even see and appreciate the potential it has. Like 06. Rise of Lyrics is the exception, f that game.

I do think the Rush titles might actually have the best bosses in Pre-Frontiers Sonic
Kinda a hot take, but the Sonic Vs Blaze Boss Fight was good.

Sam your videos are always great to watch and you and Games Cage are my top favorite sonic youtubers, and Sonic Rush is a great game.
