  • Atlas O has always been top of their game. They come with quality, variety, affordable models. The Atlas woodside reefers may be the best fright car ever produced by any manufacturer. Their quality is unmatched.
Awhile back they acquired tooling for some locomotives from MTH. Here is the first one that I chose to add to my fleet. The New Jersey Transit F40PH. For personal reasons this engine along with sister engine #4129 hold a special spot.
Back in the 1990's as most of you know I was engine crew on Chesapeake and Ohio #614 for six years. We traveled from Hoboken NJ to Port Jervis NY which is about 87 miles one way. What makes the new Atlas release special? There were 2 protection diesels than ran about a mile ahead of us. NJT #4116 and #4129. So it adds to the memory of my experience with 614.
Sit back and enjoy this fine locomotive from Atlas. The details are superb. It comes with Protosound 3 and I am able to run it with DCS. For the first time in 30 years C&O 614 is re-united with NJT #4116.

Fun video Bob, and what a small world! I was on two of those C&O 614/ NJ Transit excursions back in the 1990's! What a blast it was rocketing through the Meadowlands behind 614! Unfortunately I was on the trip the following year when 614's piston ring blew! Oh well, "stuff" happens, but what a disappointment.
Anyway, that Atlas F40PH is VERY impressive!
Maybe you know this, maybe you don't, but NJT still has a few F40PH's on the roster and occasionally they're put to use but for how much longer is anyone's guess.
    Thanks for posting!

@BobsOGaugeTrains we have a 614 greenbrier premier proto 1 by mth from.1999. My wife had to move 60 yards back because my son, then 3, got very scared of the ground shake and sou ds during those run bys at port jervis. In later years, he watched our videos hundreds of times, even though 1997 cameras weren't that good. Been searching for a proto 2 mth made in 2016, no luck so far. Do you know the specific whistle used in the 614 that 1997 day? Mth allows us to upload any whistle we want. The newest lionel grienbrier being sent to dealers does not have the correct whistle. And, we cant change the whistle recording on lionel like we can with an mth. So, please help us learn what whistle the 614 had in 1997. Gary
