    You were RIGHT about this being a doubleheader with ALP-46As 4636 AND 4640. I rode this yesterday & it was great. It was nice seeing so many enthusiasts taking photos & videos along the way too.

    seems fitting to have an electric locomotive in PRR colors, considering as a company they were at one time one of the greatest innovators in electric trains.

    That first video tho. They couldn't get a locomotive that faced forward?! Everything else considered, it went well!

    Also, you might already know, but the “stop” at Linden was due to dragging equipment.

      In the description already…. A low hanging air hose constitutes dragging equipment.

    Is there a reason why diesels can't go into Manhattan and why all trains must be electric powered or use the newer dual modes in electric mode? Is it because Penn Station NY is underground and there is no ventilation for diesel fumes? Sort of like the Philly underground stations situation. What about Amtrak Empire Service trains that start at Penn, the line out of Penn up toward Yonkers is that electrified by third rail? And are Long Island Railroad trains electrified with a third rail at Penn as well? For years Raritan Valley line service terminated at Newark because it's diesel powered and diesels can't go into the NY tunnel or Penn Station and a locomotive change would take too long, but the former Lehigh Valley Railroad did it years ago, they would change out a steam or diesel locomotive for a PRR electric at Newark for the rest of the ride to NY Penn. Now, NJT has dual mode locomotives which allow a one seat ride to NY on RVL and NJCL trains.

      The only person who can tell us why is the dead rail fan their camera bag was on the roadbed

    • @FanRailer
      @FanRailer  Před 11 měsíci

      No, the person struck was not a rail fan. It was an individual doing drugs on the right of way.

      Most passenger and freight railroads have their own police with full arrest powers. They don't tolerate trespassing on the tracks or right of way near the tracks except when crossing at a legal crossing. They have to protect themselves from lawsuits if people get hurt or killed when trespassing on railroad property.
