  • Had an impromptu afternoon/evening railfanning on New, Jersey Transit’s Mainline. All kinds of motive power is seen as is the norm on NJT. You will see mostly MN painted GM’s with one notable exception. If you love K5LA horns, you will enjoy watching this although not all of them sounded good. NS put in an appearance with the H56 and H70 locals. We covered the area from Ho-ho-kus to Ramsey. Railfanning this line never gets old with the classic GM power.

They do but if you're a frequent user of RVL Western segment I-78 exits 16-24 it's normal use because there's NY Penn Station to High Bridge trips the last weekday one is 10:45pm

4906 is the best metro north locomotive out there, not just west of Hudson. Best of all their non heritage locomotives. You cant convince me otherwise

@@leorush8171 I like the way it looks + GP40s are just the 🐐. I think that the gp40fh units are ugly. Like an offspring of an f40 and a gp40

Great Video! Ho Ho Kus is my absolute favorite place to railfan NJT! Good variety of power and decent action, plus the chance of the NS locals if you are there at the right time. 4024 has a restricted K5LA, but two of the bells on its K5LA are dead which gives it that unique sound. Nice catch of 4101 and looling forward to 4210 hopefully starting service soon and looking forward to seeing in person. I was told that they are trying to find a Nathan M3 horn to use on 4210.

They should put something unique on the 4210.

Grew up in Ramsey, rode these trains a million times. Amazing that the F40s and GP40s are still pulling trains there. All the same sights and sounds. I thought these would all be phased out due to emissions? I guess not?

The Caltrain EMU runs at night, the crew is on duty M-F at 7pm in San Jose. Best place to catch it at speed is Mary Av in Sunnyvale.
They stop at all the stations between San Jose and San Antonio.

Well done Rail fanning and I wonder why these trains are mostly pure Comet Vs. If you compare this route to the Raritan Valley Line you will find out RVL tends to be a combined comet II-V single levels with ALP-45DP GP40 F40PH PL42AC

They use older power on the Main Line and they cannot run with the bilevels. Not enough power to provide HEP to the cars.

Great video. You look and sound familiar. I worked a lot of runs up and down the main and Bergen line. I hired on the EL in 1970 and was qualified at WC. I worked WC on relief days from time to time. Retired from NJT 10 years ago. Did a lot of flagging and extra service jobs up that way.😎🚂🚃🚃🚃✝Years ago we had the U boats and original NJDOT comet coaches, low door sliders.
