Installing An Upgraded Charge Pipe On My 2020 Toyota Supra! *B58 FIRST MOD*

  • Time for the first of many upgrades for my 2020 Supra!
    In todays video I show how to install the FTP Motorsports charge pipe on my 2020 Toyota Supra B58 engine! Installing the charge pipe is super simple. 2 bolts by the throttle body and then one clamp on the turbo. It takes a bit to wiggle the pipe out from the engine bay, but very doable in an hour. Remove the stock air intake first!
    The B58 engine is very easy to work on and the upgraded charge pipe fit perfect! Installing the charge pipe on the new Supra was a nice addition to replace the cheap factory plastic charge pipe. BMW uses a lot of cheap plastics in the engine bays, and this new B58 is no exception.
    I'm glad I installed the aluminum charge pipe from FTP Motorsports on my 2020 Supra because it is way more durable then the factory plastic charge pipe, and looks great in the engine bay!
    While the new charge pipe doesn't add any power to the Supra. It will be beneficial when adding more power to the Supra!
    You definitely need to upgrade the charge pipe on the new Supra!
    Check out FTP Motorsports for aluminum charge pipes and intakes!

    Thanks for making these Supra DIY’s. For a car with so much initial hype, there is a surprisingly low amount of content like this. I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a while but I’ll be honest I stopped watching for a while after you sold the 370z, I had a Nismo at the time as well but now am planning for a white 3.0 premium Supra so I’m back watching all your Supra videos again lol.

      Xan Millar It’s just the way to connect to turbo to the throttle body. The outlet to the turbo is a smaller diameter then the throttle opening. The plastic pipe gradually changes size as it gets up to the engine.

    great video. the clear explanations of tools used, removal and reinstall of airbox, etc. were excellent! video being titled "performance mod" carries assumption it would be a measurable performance gain. although this isn't necessarily going to boost hp alone, being a prerequisite to the future turbo upgrade and tuning makes sense. thank you!

    What is the purpose of replacing this part?

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  Před 2 lety

      Pretty sure I mentioned that in the video. But it will hold more boost and be a more robust part then stock. The stock plastic is a cheap anterior and could fail in the future. This aluminum pipe is way stronger and will never crack like the plastic could. So it's a preventative damage type of part. Also has a port for meth or nos, so its good for people adding more things into the intake stream

  • @Eric-zs6rd
    @Eric-zs6rd Před 3 lety +2

    I remember doing this on the N54 in my old 335i haha! I see BMW still loves to save their shekels by putting in those plastic charge pipes that crack and leak boost. I bet Toyota would have used steel from the start if they had designed the engine.
