- Time for the first of many upgrades for my 2020 Supra!
In todays video I show how to install the FTP Motorsports charge pipe on my 2020 Toyota Supra B58 engine! Installing the charge pipe is super simple. 2 bolts by the throttle body and then one clamp on the turbo. It takes a bit to wiggle the pipe out from the engine bay, but very doable in an hour. Remove the stock air intake first!
The B58 engine is very easy to work on and the upgraded charge pipe fit perfect! Installing the charge pipe on the new Supra was a nice addition to replace the cheap factory plastic charge pipe. BMW uses a lot of cheap plastics in the engine bays, and this new B58 is no exception.
I'm glad I installed the aluminum charge pipe from FTP Motorsports on my 2020 Supra because it is way more durable then the factory plastic charge pipe, and looks great in the engine bay!
While the new charge pipe doesn't add any power to the Supra. It will be beneficial when adding more power to the Supra!
You definitely need to upgrade the charge pipe on the new Supra!
Check out FTP Motorsports for aluminum charge pipes and intakes!

You are one of the best youtuber showing clear how to do the work. Thank you
Thanks! It's fun showing how to do these mods!
Haha awesome man! This was on my birthday lol. Love your videos.
Very cool! This was a fun mod! Glad you enjoy the videos!
Hi Brian 🙂, I'm always amazed by your DIYs because you are very knowledgeable. I was thinking how brave you are to do a mod on a 2020 model year car, but you know what you're doing. Very cool.
Yeah it's always fun diving into a new car!
Thanks for making these Supra DIY’s. For a car with so much initial hype, there is a surprisingly low amount of content like this. I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a while but I’ll be honest I stopped watching for a while after you sold the 370z, I had a Nismo at the time as well but now am planning for a white 3.0 premium Supra so I’m back watching all your Supra videos again lol.
I might be buying another Nismo next year btw! But everyone else on YT is just doing the crazy mods that 99% of owners will never do. I like showing the normal people mods on the car. So we have some good mods coming!
Glad you changed that plastic charge pipe which is prone to failure!! Upgrade the Turbo and add an ingen CAI as well as a downpipe!!
Looks so much better than the stock plastic ones. You’re right, that is a cramped engine compartment. Good job!
Yeah I love the look!! Thanks!
Looks nice 👍🏾. Looked so easy to do even I could do it.
Super easy mod for sure! It was fun learning more about this engine
Thank your BMW community!
They do a very nice job and fast
Nice supra one day i buy one
Lovin' the Supra! Looking forward to more videos! One thing I noticed is that you are in need of a good tool sponsor! 😂 C'mon SK Tools! Hook'em up!
Lol. I don’t mind using the basics tho. Just shows ppl that anyone can do any of this stuff we do 😅
Probably added 20hp? Was there any stickers on the pipe too? If so add another 3hp per sticker , unless it's a 3d sticker , add 10hp
Seeing him set the pipe carefully on the bubble wrap, instead of on the abrasive concrete, made me happy.
Gotta take care of that powder coating!
Great man!! You did a awesome job, that new pipe looks awesome, it sounds so good!! Keep praying for me, I want to the doctor yesterday about my cancer, I have to have surgery in 2 weeks!! I’m so scared!! I can’t wait for the Tesla pickup truck!! I want a Tesla!
Glad you liked the vid! You got it man, stay strong! It'll all work out!
Bros FOURR Speed thanks!! I’ll keep y’all posted!!!! Do y’all want a Tesla?
Good luck D. Keep the faith. 👆
RustyG57 thanks! I will
I see we might be getting more power for the Supra
Thivakar saravanamuthu Getting there!
can you do an hks charge pipe w/bov video installation? alot of wiring would like step by step please
If HKS sends me one I will lol. I don't have experience with that one
Hey man im looking the charge pipe up and it asks for which vehicle chassis. Which one do you select? And did you order the charge pipe and intake pipe?
Select your vehicle ;). Should be Supra B58, if thats what you have. I had just got both parts directly from them
Cool mod dude.
Louis Eitner Thanks!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Looking forward to more! When I get mine I will know exactly what to do with it then.
Louis Eitner Nice! More to come!
*It will look beautiful with Hre Wheels s101 or c103 wheels*
I got wheels coming :)
@@BrosFOURRSpeed very cool. I accompany you from Brazil.
curious as to why they step down the intake pipe to the charge pipe? looks to go from 3 or 3.5 inch to 2.5
Xan Millar It’s just the way to connect to turbo to the throttle body. The outlet to the turbo is a smaller diameter then the throttle opening. The plastic pipe gradually changes size as it gets up to the engine.
great video. the clear explanations of tools used, removal and reinstall of airbox, etc. were excellent! video being titled "performance mod" carries assumption it would be a measurable performance gain. although this isn't necessarily going to boost hp alone, being a prerequisite to the future turbo upgrade and tuning makes sense. thank you!
Bryan Woodruff Glad you liked the vid! Performance doesn’t always mean power. Durability of the pipes adds performance since this pipe will handle other mods better. I like it a lot!
Does it come with a sticker?
I wonder what im doing wrong. I cant seem to put the first part of the charge pipe
It's hard to get it all in. Just keep things loose till it lines up
Those pipes make exhaust sounds better??
Charge pipe won't really make a sound difference. Intake will tho. czcams.com/video/cwo7UOsxwaA/video.html
do down pipes or upgraded turbo next, those are already able to be purchsed as well
I'll eventually do that. Starting small for now!
Will this void my warranty if I install it?
Technically no. The dealer would have to price this part caused an issue. Pretty much no way this pipe would cause an issue
Hey Brian, does the FTP emblem come off?
It does! It's adhesive on, but you can pop it off. I removed it later on and put a new one the kit came with in a different spot.
Bros FOURR Speed Thanks! I like brand name stuff, just not the brand name ON the stuff 😝
@@suprola7961 Yeah I feel that! Gives it a clean look!
U think that same part would work on the m40i?
Most likely. FTP does carry specific parts for that car
The clip that you didn‘t know what it was for on the stock charge pipe is for the watercooling hose to fit in. On my 2018 M140i it is held in place by this clip.
Gotcha. I guess they just re used this charge pipe for this car. There is nothing that goes into the clip for the Supra. Funny lol
Bros FOURR Speed Yeah, they just shopped BMW parts cause they already exist for this engine. Gonna install my charge pipe tomorrow and see how it goes. Thanks for the very good instructions. Keep going!
TheChriss1301 Glad you enjoyed the video! Install is pretty simple. Just a bit of twisting the old pipe to get it out 😅
Did you get any CEL after installing this?
No issues. Been a great product!
what CEL stands for?
@@ileonardR35mk5Supra Check Engine Light
I feel like it sounds smoother?
Kyle Newberry It might slightly
Why doing that?? its done nothing but to wasted money for no reason. Definitely not the look as same as HP
What is the purpose of replacing this part?
Pretty sure I mentioned that in the video. But it will hold more boost and be a more robust part then stock. The stock plastic is a cheap anterior and could fail in the future. This aluminum pipe is way stronger and will never crack like the plastic could. So it's a preventative damage type of part. Also has a port for meth or nos, so its good for people adding more things into the intake stream
I remember doing this on the N54 in my old 335i haha! I see BMW still loves to save their shekels by putting in those plastic charge pipes that crack and leak boost. I bet Toyota would have used steel from the start if they had designed the engine.
haha yeah! There are definitly some cheap plastic hoses in the engine bay! But Toyota did help with the development of this engine. So internally its super strong
This is how it all starts... intake and exhaust... then it snowballs into full mods lol 🖒
Absolutely!! I already have another part installed on the car as of now too lol.
Does installing that void the manufacturers warranty?
No. They would have to prove that this piped caused whatever issue you would be at the dealership for.
I just bought my new Supra and am very afraid any performance upgrades would void the factory warranty. Have you ever had to take your car in to the dealership to have any work done yet? If so any issues?
@@dreamtalon9166 no the dealership needs to prove to you that this is the part at fault. For my m240 I had to cut mine but it’s so much better than the plastic
Dp exhaust stage 2 tune coming? lol
Not ready to tune it just yet!
i thought plastic was better for heat and weight
After seeing over 46 supras at SEMA with various body kits (most wide bodied) seeing this one stock is odd lol
jdm Punk Haha yeah! I feel like everyone just went so crazy so quick with the car, everyone else is done with the mods. So I’ll be able to show modding this car like a normal person will actually do 😅
Bros FOURR Speed very good point and strategy. I like it 👍
Taiwanese motor sport companies really make some good pipe stuff like IPE, Fi exhaust, then this.
Yeah both of the parts from FTP have been great!
I am not against what you did, but people running 700+ hp haven’t had issues with the charge pipes blowing off.
Down pipe and tune....
Well we had a 2014 335i at the dealership once, and this pipe cracked with 14k miles on it. So I'd rather have fun doing a cool mod that won't end up breaking like the cheap plastic stuff.
Damn I want an A90 but the RZ trim costs too much the US is lucky their premium is under 60k the RZ trim in Japan is going for 88 mil all day long the 4 cyl SZ and SZR are going for 67 mill. It's the same price to buy a premium new, do a MT swap at EAG and ship the car to Japan than it is to buy an RZ new here smh.
Let me guess... LED's are next?
Paul M The car has all LED’s from the factory in nearly every spot lol. More performances parts incoming!
I'm already here lol
Nice!
Toyota's engines are so simple but they always have all of thos cables running under the engine cover. And when you take the engine cover off it looks like a hot mess.
Yeah, not too bad though, but pretty easy to work on so far!
After attempting this today I can tell you there are a lot of steps that aren’t shown in this video
Pretty sure I showed most of it. Hardest part I encountered was twisting the pipe to get it out. What did I miss showing?
crisp shifts! @09:45
Yeah the Supra shifts super fast!
this mod won't make any difference. literally, zero difference of any kind. With the stock turbo you don't need to upgrade the charge pipe. The stock b58 one is perfectly fine.
I had a 2014 335i at the dealership and the stock plastic pipe cracked and threw a CEL. I'd much rather get rid of all the cheap plastic asap.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed yeah that's the N55 motor. The charge pipe on the b58 is different. It was specifically improved to not crack or pop out like in the older bmws.
@@edwint1780 Agreed. This mod better 4-5 years later when the plastic is more brittle. Down pipe mod would have been money better spent.
Good thing your replacing the intake. That’s bmw for you cheap plastic parts lmao
clarence jarvis We had a 2014 335i when I worked at the dealership and the intake pipe cracked and threw a CEL. so this is definitely a needed part!
Bros FOURR Speed I’m happy for you bro I been watching your channel since you had the red 370z lol
clarence jarvis Thanks for the long term support!
Bros FOURR Speed The 335i features the N55 engine which is known for bursting the charge pipe. BMW fixed this on the B58 engine. The stock pipe is all god unless you wanna go higher pressure or methanol injection.
You guys need better tools..
meh.. I don't mind basic tools. Just shows people that anyone can do anything they see us do in their own garage regardless of tools
Owns a new Supra. Don't have money for decent tools
We like showing people DIY projects on how to work on the car yourself. Showing these projects getting done with basic hand tools shows that anyone can do it with any garage setup. We like being able to show this aspect because everyone can know that if we can do it like this, they can do it with any tools they have. But in all honesty, this was such a basic job, all I needed was a few hand tools. If I wasted all my money on fancy tools, I couldn't afford the fun car lol. My garage would be full of tools with no car to work on.
Can you stop waving the camera around. You are making me sea sick!!!!! :(
100% BMW not a toyota supra👎👎👎
