    Completely agree on the lack of neck articulation. Really limits its value as a toy and as a character for animation.

  • @matijakovac473
    @matijakovac473 Před 2 lety +175

    Yeah the quetzalcoatlus should have way more articulation for its size and i think that making the wings the way they did smaug’s, so that you could fold them up, would be way better.

    Not really a fan of Jurassic Park or dinosaur stuff, but I'm a huge aviation nut and I love this set just for the aircraft. This is probably one of the best they've ever done for an airplane as far as proportions and accuracy to the subject material goes.

  • @spoonsrattling
    @spoonsrattling Před 2 lety +65

    Quetzalcoatlus is such a magnificent pterosaur. Not particularly a fan of how they made it. Like all pterosaurs the quetzalcoatlus they were aractually quite agile on the ground. Having it be stuck in a permanent flying pose is very unfortunate

  • @HairyGhostbear

    Three minifigs in the plane would work probably if you have two people behind the pilot facing each other

    If they were going for a C-119 Flying Boxcar, then that is a pretty good representation. No clamshell doors in the back, but you can't have everything.

  • @c4c4cr0773
    @c4c4cr0773 Před 2 lety +18

    Pterosaurs are not related to birds. They have integuments covering their skin, but those are not feathers. The lack of articulations on the Quetzalcoatlus is very problematic as pterosaurs are known to walk on the ground and some paleontologists even hypothetized that Quetzalcoatlus MIGHT have been a mostly terrestrial animal because of its size.

    • @dominikswiatek3300
      @dominikswiatek3300 Před 2 lety +9

      Actually there is a new paper from last week from Nature that suggests that the integuments might be feathers after all and that feathers might be ancestral to both dinosaurs and pterosaurs.

    @Tiishen Před 2 lety +10

    The only downside of the plane is how stubby it is. Ideally the main fuselage should be noticeably longer, but considering the price, it's not bad. Overall this seems like a nice set. I might even buy it one day and modify it a little

    @Vadahann Před 2 lety +3

    I really like that plane, definitively works for me: classic loook, beefy with ample interior space, nice color scheme. Even that Quetzathingy doesn’t bother me. Yeah, neck articulation would have been a minimum but since it doesn’t impact too much the final cost of the set, I’ll take it.

  • @jazzbee9857

    4:55 "It's all a mess. It's all bad. It's all bad."

    Here’s a deep dive FACT on how to pronoun the dinosaur’s name
    1. Que- just like the word “queue” the “ueue” is silence, so it’s just q or “kew”
    2. The first T- kew+t is pronounced “cute” referring to the kawaii aesthetic of the winged menace.
    3. Zal- people really get confused with this one, some said it’s sal as in salsa, others said it’s cal as in calzone. But it’s actually just the “zl” sound, the a is silenced because z is the last alphabet, just like how this movie is it’s last of its trilogy and l is one of the middle alphabet, just like how mid this design for the dinosaur is.
    4. Coat- This one is the simplest, just simply coat due to the fact that this giant flying lizard looks comfy.
    5. Lus- us is pronounced as it should, mixed with L and it is to similar to the word “lust”, which is a naughty word, and this set is targeted at kids, so we will have to censored the word.
    Finally, with all of that combined the correct pronunciation is AHAHHHHHHHHHHHH

    A few points of note:
    Pterosaurs aren't really that related to birds. Pterosaurs aren't dinosaurs, but close relatives, so something weird like Triceratops or stego are more related to birds
    Now on to the set: Oh my god the lack of articulation is awful. Quetzal (and all pterosaurs) walked on all fours, so the wings already aren't great, and in the trailer it looks to be grabbing the plane in a walking like pose, so even more points off to this lego. And the lack of neck movement is awful
    The plane is cool tho

    This is the worst value of all the JW sets this wave. The plane is laughably small (why won’t they make an 8-wide cockpit?) and the Quetzalcoatlus is sad at best, it would be like getting a T-Rex with no articulation.
