      i think the Therizinosaurus head is so accurate, however the body is so skinny and i think it should've be done a new mold for the dino.Also probably will make the value better

      It's from the Greek gigas 'large' and notos 'south' because it was found in South America (and is large, I guess)!

      As a big paleo-nerd im dissappointed by Lego's portrial of Therizinosaurus. It was a really weird and amazing creature but Lego failed to capture what we know that made it special (for example the big round body of a herbivore and its feathery coat). Also the Indoraptor scicle claw leg part reuse is especially bad here. I didn't think Lego would even make this species so I was very excited when it was rumored that he would be included in this set, but when it was revealed I was quite dissappointed.

    I think when it comes to accuracy to paleontology in these sets, we shouldnt forget that LEGO is trying to recreate the dinosaurs as seen in Jurassic World/Park, which are by no means scientificly accurate. 😅

      @GoldenNinja3000 Před 2 lety +13

      True, but the dinosaurs in this set aren’t even accurate to the ones in the movie. They’re awesome but as a huge Jurassic fan I do expect more accuracy to the film depictions.

    The Therizinosaurus weirded me out at first, but it has really grown on me. Love the individually articulated fingers.

  • @PushoverMediaCritic
    @PushoverMediaCritic Před 2 lety +94

    Head shape for Therizinosaurus seems about right, actually. It's a herbivore, it eats leaves off of trees. So, no fangs and small blunt teeth makes sense. And yeah, the claws are supposed to hang straight down, limp-wristed, it only used those claws for pulling down branches and self-defense.
    The biggest problem I have with the Therizinosaurus is that the body is too skinny, Therizinosaurus is supposed to have really wide hips. And the tail should be much thicker and fluffier with feathers.

  • @alienskater69
    @alienskater69 Před 2 lety +35

    Absolutely love the moment when Jang wants to go on a tangent about aerodynamics but stops himself because this is a lego review.

  • @shmurblethebirdmanbarbarian

    I wish the Therizinosaurus had rotating wrists like the Indominus used to so you could get more angles with the claws and I’m not a fan of them reusing the Indoraptor legs for everything because the stuff they used it for don’t have that sickle claw

  • @Angry_Squirrel555
    @Angry_Squirrel555 Před 2 lety +17

    The lime green build on the side of the main structure build is supposed to be an electric charging station for the ATV. Not a bad start for a set, I would have easily forgone the Therizinosaurus for a more complete building.

  • @foxmccloud7
    @foxmccloud7 Před 2 lety +36

    From what I can recall, the behind-the-scenes and even the LEGO video game states that the Indominus Rex ended up primarily using Giganotosaurus DNA for the base of her genetic makeup, meaning Claire was lying about it being based on T-Rex. Also, I believe that her claws were so sharp because Therizinosaurus DNA was used here?

  • @edgarleft
    @edgarleft Před 2 lety +22

    It doesn't matter if the lego dinosaurs are inaccurate to what scientist believe real dinosaurs looked like. It should be accurate to how they look like in the movies. In the first Jurrasic world movie it is establishd that they splice the DNA such that the dinos will look more like what the audiance expect they look like than they did in real life.

    • @potatoanimates6847
      @potatoanimates6847 Před 2 lety +5

      This is true, but most of the shape and mold of the therizinosaurus is even severly inaccurate to the movie, the slim body, the indoraptor legs and some more minor things. Same goes for the giganotosaurus with the small trex arms with 2 claws and the head (it is fine but would have liked a new mold).

    • @Lordodragonss
      @Lordodragonss Před 2 lety +5

      The problem is THEY ARE NOT accurate EVEN to movies... (Therino has wrong legs and bodyshape, Giga has wrong arms)

  • @_Pikalika_
    @_Pikalika_ Před 2 lety +35

    If the Helipad was a separate build I think it would've worked better for it's size. with 1-2 studs around it for some foliage and terrain, perfect.
    Not accurate to the movie probably, but as a set, as a build it would've been better.
    Giga looks really cool, the head is so accurate to how they represent it in ARK: survival evolved video game. Therizino's neck is too long. the headpiece length added to the upper body's portion of the torso piece and it's just too much imo

    One way to modify the tower supports to hide the blue pins is to just put additional technic pins with studs on one end in the other technic holes, and cover up the holes entirely with a couple 1x3 light blueish gray tiles.

  • @LoonieMoonie420
    @LoonieMoonie420 Před 2 lety +14

    im a MASSIVE dinosaur enjoyer, and have bought all the sets from 2015 up to now, and lego has unfortunately dipped in the accuracy of dinosaurs even to the movies. The Therizinosaurus is fine, but it should not have the retractable claws on its feet, they should be flat similar to the legs of the stygy or the 2015 Dilophosaurus. The giga should idilicly have 3 fingers instead of 2. This goes for the baryonyx model too, it should have 3 fingers not 4, and should not have the retractable claws either. Other than that tho, they are spectacular models.

  • @Nasuto1702
    @Nasuto1702 Před 2 lety +6

    I hate that they keep reusing legs with raptor claws, for dinosaurs that clearly do not have those. They made this same mistake for the baryonyx last year.
    I can excuse the re-use of the indominus head for the Giga, since the do look similar. The use of the T.rex arms is stupid tho. How hard is it to give it the right arms and legs?

    Why does the Giganotosaurus have such a weird sail on its back? The real dinosaur never had one. I don't know if this is creative license by Lego or if they are adapting an inaccurate design from WB directly, but either way I don't like it. It's just not what that dinosaur should look like.

  • @Vadahann
    @Vadahann Před 2 lety +6

    I like that observation tower, it looks strong and it offers quite some room to play with minifigs though it wouldn’t have hurt to have a little bit more interior details.
    You can feel the cost saving/efficiency on that HQ with two opened sides and very narrow rooms but it looks good and it’s detailed enough to procure good play value.
    The helicopter is interesting but yes, you could probably achieve the same goal in a smaller footprint.
    I’m not particularly a fan of dinos, plus they add quite a lot to the price in the end, but they do the job.
    Price is quite high, will have to wait and see how it evolves with time on the shelves.

  • @Betuor
    @Betuor Před 2 lety +1

    I find sets with big dino molds really mess up the price.
    Like on one hand, just looking at the set, it feels overpriced. But when you look at the dinos and their size, it kind of looks to make up the gap. Like I almost look at it like getting 2 T-Rexes. How much would people expect for those to cost extra.
    I certainly know $40 for the Giga second hand would be a good deal.
    As for scythe hands, I kind of like it, but I think the biggest issue is the neck. It just looks wrong bent. Maybe if the neck and head were separate pieces.

  • @zleeven

    I didn't think much of this set...but now that I've been rewatching Dominion at home, I suddenly _want it,_ so I'm thinking of picking it up soon.
    The thing is, even though I really want that Giganotosaurus, I'm not thrilled by how it's designed. I too was irritated that they reused the Indominus head for it - mainly because, being a bit of a Dinosaur fan, I knew that the "normies" were just going to think of the Giga as just another "Indominus Rex" dinosaur in the movie. But I can ultimately live with that.
    What bothers me _most_ about it, is the color-scheme the toy has. The bright Lime Green and Black is interesting, but it's not film-accurate.
    The movie has the creature be a light, almost pale bluish color, with a heavy forest green being the darker colors. It would've looked like an interesting combination.
    I suppose maybe in a few years, they'll release an updated, more accurate version like they did with the Indominus.
    As for the Therizinosaur...I have no idea why it's colorscheme is so... _blue._ This thing is one of the few fully feathered Dinosaurs we've gotten in the franchise, and yet the toy looks almost entirely scaly. Which, I'm not knocking, but it's a bit jarring to say the least.
    Also, they really could've done a better job with the hands and claws on this thing. For the one thing, the hands have no wrist articulation, so the claws are all facing down. Worse is, the way those hands have _slots_ to fit the articulated claws into, make it look like the thing is clenching its fists, and the claws are being held between the fingers - like when a kid takes three knives and pretends he's Wolverine.
    And honestly, all the claws are the same length, which was a mistake. With Therizinosaurus, the claws should get progressively longer as you get to the interior digit. So perhaps for the final - longest claw - they should instead go with that old tail-piece that is usually used for claws or teeth now a days.
    As for fixing the hands - they need to give an articulated wrist, and either have the fingers already attached to the hand, or have the attaching pieces be the same color as the hand to contrast with the claws.

    And why does gigantosaurus have small arms with 2 fingers instead of bigger arms and 3 fingers

    Iono, I consider those giant molded animals to be kinda like cheating. The recent T-Rex Breakout featured an excellent LEGO model dino. These here just look like...toys

    Th only thing that is bad of this set are 2 small things that can better, give the giganotosaurus arms like the new baryonyx and the same for therzino but longer Claws so i rate it a solid 8/10 ʕ·ᴥ·ʔ

    I looked up the Therizinosaurus and it actually looks rather weird in most recreations as well, so I can't really blame Lego for that.. but it doesn't make me want it that much.
