      I mean he is Detroit’s 2nd best goal scorer and pointer this season and has shown he could do even better in the past. 70 point plus players dont grow on trees for every team.
      Kane is a point per game player, Gost, Sprong, Compher, Lyon are also all solid addition Detroit made this season, hell even Petry if you take into account his cost did pretty good.

      It'd be great if they pulled someone from the minors or overseas just be a presence and shut down the other teams O line when needed. Debrincat can't be the one dropping the gloves and if Kane gets targeted, Wings can't respond right now. That's my only critique of the great Stevie. He's got too many great assets. He needs to hedge up on a little insurance.

    • @sixty8ight
      @sixty8ight Před 2 měsíci +1

      I don't think playing with Lizotte and occasional 2nd PP time really counts as "so many chances". McClellan was not good at developing young talent. Some worked out despite his efforts by shear patience but Kaliyev needs to be given the chances to fail and play with good set-up men and that's something he hasn't really had in LA. it would be a shame to see him leave, as i truly believe he could be a top level sniper in the NHL, but i'm afraid it might be too late for him to find his place on the Kings' roster. the whole thing smells of Brett Hull's time in Calgary if you ask me.

  • @DezVillalobos
    @DezVillalobos Před 2 měsíci +1

    Great video with solid production! Love Red Wings trade content that isn't about them only being sellers. Hard disagree about Walman though. By the numbers he's one of the top goal scoring D this year and though I dont know currently he was top 3 in shots blocked for a long while this season. Him and Mo take on the hardest assignments. The craziest stat I have is that only 3 players take more defensive zone starts than Walman's partner (Seider) since 07-08 season which is Tyler Myers, Dion Pheneuf, and I forget the 3rd. By extension I imagine Walman is far up that list as well. He's really solidified himself as a top pairing defenseman in my opinion, plus he hits the griddy.

    If I'm Stevie I am not going to treat this year any differently from last year. AFAIC, they're not likely to take a deep run, so it would be a bad idea to lose assets. I'd only trade away current players if they have made it known that they don't want to re-sign and I wouldn't want to trade away anything higher than a 3rd round draft pick, unless Stevie could somehow manipulate an even higher draft pick in return. I'd rather give the team the opportunity to make a statement about themselves while also testing the depth of the pipeline with "these games matter" experience. Signing an undrafted, high-potental/low-risk college or overseas diamond-in-the-rough type character to add depth to the pipeline makes more sense to me. I think Kaner was DET's big splash let's-do-this-playoff-thing statement acquisition this year, and I'm content to see the current team get some playoff experience as a team.
    I think the recently-announced Larkin two week LBI will be great for the team. It sounds like an excellent test to me.

    All good people to pick up, but none of them are going to solve the goalie situation.
    I know, I know, Thinking ' There is no problem'.
    BUT stats show, there actually is.
    Detroit is in top 5 in goals scored in the league! Offense is done.
    But they are 22nd in goals against. This has only gotten worse as seasons progressed too.
    Its not even a defense problem as the shots on goal are pretty normal and often in Detroit's favor, and they still lose games.
    Legit. getting a better goaltender to work with Lyons is almost necessary if they want to progress in the playoffs with clearly higher scoring teams to contend against.
    22nd will NOT cut it.

    Holl for Boqvist, half retained on Holl? Ghost, Berggren and a pick for Hanifin (if they can get him to sign say… four years.)

    I'd be willing to give up a #1 draft pick, to get a quality top six forward. They can add in a defenseman currently on the Red Wings roster. I don't know what that will get them. But you have to give up something, to get something of quality. I really don't think they are going to make a major trade. Teams are wary of Yzermen, when it comes to trades.

      As a fellow wings fan, many are overreacting. Sprong will probably leave at end of year because let’s be real he isn’t a fourth liner. Berg will not get playing time. We could get an upgrade for our defense because we need grit come playoff time. We are in a playoff spot. Let’s act like it

    IF: Stevie wants to trade a few of the dozen of so prospects that will never see the light of day in Detroit for a D or goalie? Fine, whatever.
    HOWEVER, if he starts trading 1st and 2nd round picks for rentals, and mortgaging our future, I will go postal.
