    I admire and revere all of our amazing Founding Fathers. But General Washington holds a special place. This man was mere inches from death on so many occasions during battle and yet never even received a flesh wound? You can't tell me that's not divine protection. What an incredible leader our first President was.

      My reply was more a comedic jab on Slayer Sigma-Zeta's fawning over GW like a love-struck groupie(especially funny when glancing at his channel content).
      Also, perspective is important. Let's look at a former nation that was previously an ally to GW:

      This is all stuff that is taught in most schools. This time should've been used to talk about how quirky this guy was, like his practice of just walking out of church sermons and just leaving his wife behind at these masses or his dislike for shaking hands, his disdain for the informality of shaking hands, etc.
      We get it, he was a war hero...but there's so much more depth to the guy, just like most of our past leaders, that isn't touched upon by videos like this or in your grade school history texts.

    Dr. Swain's video on Jefferson gave me chills. Particularly in expressing Adams and Jefferson reconciled peacefully their contentious relationship and died on the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. ❤🇺🇲🦅

    I’m 50 years old, born & raised in Boston, MA, college educated, and I still learned something! Education has come a long way since a hard textbook with no illustrations. Thank you PragerU!

      It has for us friend, (I'm 56 from New Hampshire) but I'm afraid kids being taught today learn none of this. They learn nothing of the horrors of the Soviet Union, China and other communist states. And they only learn facts about America that call it's existence and morality into question. Truly, the tools of education have improved greatly. But how those tools are used is still most important. (Sorry to be a downer!)

      @@thanksfernuthin - I completely agree with you. We spent an obscene amount of money on private Catholic school for our son, beginning at age 4 from pre-school through grade 12. Best money we ever spent!!!! We’d do it all over again! The public schools today (in general) are a disgrace!

They teach none of the good and that good people always stepped up in America. Drives me crazy. We are a good country, founded on good principals. It's one thing to talk about where we have missed the mark but that's not what they are doing

This is the best venue for reaching young minds. For example, both Amala Ekpunobi and Candice Owens claim that PragerU videos influenced their thinking.

    They were exceptional because they had the right idea about what liberty looks like, and they were willing to risk the loss of all things in order to plant it in the earth. They must have sensed that if they succeeded it would be on the behalf of future generations. What they may not have realized is that their efforts and successes turned liberty into a world commodity. Others began to think of liberty in the way Americans did and on doing so reached out for it with open arms. Not only had there been a new birth of freedom in America but in places far distant from America.

    As a Canadian most of these details are new to me. Very interesting and inspiring. Seems wisdom saved freedom many times over. Wisdom is in very short supply now days , There is that Peterson guy. Maybe there'll be a cartoon of him someday too.

    This video is amazing. This is the stuff we should be teaching young folk these days. Instead of glancing over it in a week why don't we spend 2-3 months in the 3rd grade teaching kids these stuff. Then follow through with more information and teaching about our father for a month for the rest of their education. Kids these days are way to sensitive. Hearing about the hardships and obstacles the founders had to go through would toughen them up. Everytime I want to whine and complain life isn't fair and I want more. I think about the men of earlier generations that had it harder. Yet still came out on top. All the way from ancient Greek and Roman times. To fighting in the crusades and stopping slavery 400 years later. Great men always get shafted I guess. No matter how great their actions are. Just look at Julius Ceasar.

      We’d need more than 180 days is school. When I taught 5th grade we covered colonial times to the western expansion. I only had one month per topic to cover each period of history.

      As a kid in school I never really appreciated these men or history....but now as an adult I see things differently...sadly many ppl my age don't realize the miracles God had done through these men and how important they we're in creating this free world.
      Talking about slavery though two of my favorite heroes in destroying slavery is William Wilberforce and John Newton...and yes ik they weren't American.

      yes. just ask any doctor, farmer, lawyer, pipefitter, heavy equipment mechanic, or even someone who went to Brooklyn College and double majored in History and Middle Eastern Studies. I'm sure they will preach about how higher-education is pointless and unrewarding and just Absolutely useless...🤦‍♂

    My favorite words of Jefferson ring as true now as they did in the 1775.
    When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
    Yet now speak of dissolving political bands which connect them, and people act like it is inconceivable. The time has come again, in my opinion. Our children depend on our will to follow through.

      Much of the Declaration traces to John Locke's 2nd Treatise of Government, which traces to the Holy Scriptures.

      I agree, the time to dissolve does seem upon us, but actually the Constitution has a solution in it: Convention of States. Returning power to the states and away from DC would allow crazy woke and self-destructive states to experiment while others prosper.

    OMG sweetie, as soon as I heard your voice my face broke out with the biggest of smiles. Listening to you on these deindoctrinational videos are my favorites. Thank you for everything you do. And thank you as well Prager U for having this platform. I feel bad that I have no money for a donation. For you see I was diagnosed with lupus and it has been ravaged my body for many years before being found. So it made my doctor decided to make me not medically for for my work. For I am a truck driver. This ment no medical card, & the eventual revocation of my CDL. And of course any governmental agency will make everything as complicated & soul destroying as possible. My disability has been denied over & over again. Long story, but that's why I cannot donate. And feel horrible about it. Because I absolutely love & support everything y'all are doing. Because having truth in a place easily accessible for all. Because as y'all know, this is not & probably will never be taught again in our schools as sad as that is. Thank you all for everything 🇺🇸

    I love history, specially about the founding fathers. Fan fact: These seven men are the Principle Founding Fathers. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison. While there were many others who contributed to the founding of the United States, these seven men are considered by most as the Founding Fathers.

      in history classes, and this video, we tend to gloss over the bad. we tend not to go into the grisly reality of the situation of the time. just look at the good theyve done not the bad. with other historical figures we do the opposite, only look at the bad and ignore the good.
      it all depends on who writes the history books.

With all the lies they're spreading about out Founding Fathers its so nice to hear of the patriotism and bravery they all had to give The United States its freedom !The same freedoms that others do not appreciate or even know of, or understand .They don't know or care how truly blessed we are in this country'.     I wish someone would make a high quality steaming series on the story of the founding fathers. It is sad that most Americans know the history of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Marvel and DC universe better than our own history. Imagine George Washington played by Chris Pratt and getting to see his historic life play out, from the battlefield to the founding of our country and handing off of power to John Adams. 🇺🇸

    I really enjoyed this video--especially because of the honesty/accuracy.
    The only details I wish PragerU would add is their faith in God.
    For example, Jefferson wanted the new nation's seal to reflect the Isrealites' exodus.
    Washington placed his hand over Genesis 49-50. I personally see this as very significant--especially when coupled with Jefferson's proposed seal.
    ...or what about accounts of George Washington praying and/or his giving credit to God for his miraculous deliverances. We needed George Washington to help found this nation and God knew it. God preserved him.
    We also needed these and other good men/women, whom I personally believe were placed by God in their particular time and place to help found a nation that would bless so many before the Lord returns again.

    It kind of reminds me of watching football, when the announcer declares a player in the game the best player he's ever seen, but next week it's another guy on another team, in another game. It would be more accurate to say, they all had a major and important role to play, to play with one another, and to even play off one another to shape America and change the world, but without the divine Providence of God, none of them could have done anything.

    Knowing those who made the United States possible should be required in all schools, I learned about the founders in public schools in the ‘50s and ‘60s. If we can’t teach American children about the founding I say close the government schools.

    Adams, Jefferson, and Washington we’re the original choice for Borglum’s Mt Rushmore sculpture. Together they argued the case and fought the war for independence and freedom.
    Today many politicians have financial interest in foreign countries and look to unite the U.S. with the “Global Community “. God forbid it. May all who hear this history strive to teach this generation and the next the importance of remaining free from foreign entanglements.

      It is my understanding that Mr. Washington was a fifth generation ~American, having some French Huguenot ancestry. I can't say for certain what his accent may have been.

      Actually, the modern American accent is closer to historical English accent than modern English accent is. The closest is probably the American Southern accent. At least it's almost identical to the accent of lower-class people in western England at the time.

      I am Australian. Apparently within one generation the Australian accent had emerged. Plus when we went to Europe in WW1 the average aussie solder was 6 inches taller than the average British soldier. Just a difference between the climates and diets.

    EVERYONE who comes to this country to become citizens should need to learn in depth of our country’s history; and, through the years the sacrifices men have made to protect our freedom. God had His hand on this country and many of His people their hands folded in prayer to God.

    You need to get all of these biographers in one room and have them debate who was the most important, impactful founding president! It's a human failing. When you spend so much time digging deep on a subject or person you end up thinking the focus of your study is obviously the most important. They can't all be right. But it would be very enlightening to hear the discussion. I'm guessing these guys could carry on a civilized debate about something so important to them.
