    Ran with the Metaspeed Sky Paris' for the Copenhagen Marathon and ran a 2:57. Absolutely loved the shoe. The thing I noticed was that paces that usually feel like hard work seemed to feel slightly easier with this shoe and with the new foam they were extremely comfortable.

    Very interesting comparison but I would have liked to see the Alphafly 3 included as well. Personally I have been trying to get my hands on a pair of the Asics Metaspeed Sky Paris for a while as they seem the best pick for me while being significantly cheaper as the Alphaflys. I'm currently using a race retired pair of Vaporfly 2's for faster workouts and they are still holding up well along with a pair of Puma Deviate Nitro 2's for tempo stuff which I love but the design of the fast-R just does not appeal to me. New Balance makes some great shoes but they would not be a top pick for plated shoes, same goes for Mizuno.

    looking forward to seeing the results but i am writing this before i watch, i would love if you then see "cheaper" shoes around the £100-£150 mark because im covinced that the shoe itself doesn't make much of a difference over shorter distance if you are just a good runner. imo its more just finding a shoe thats comfortable for you as an individual rather than "supershoes make you go faster"

    • @zakkkkkkkkkkkkkk
      @zakkkkkkkkkkkkkk Před 2 měsíci

      Andy would probably run around 3 for each k,they make a difference for runners who run or midfoot or forefootand are generally faster. But if this test were for slower or heel striking runners then yes the carbon shoes won't make much of a difference.

      Very happy with my time, ran 1:52 in my first half in October. So I'm by no means fast. I wasn't deterred by the shoe's marketing (for 2:30 runners).
      One other thing I should mention. I also. bought a pair of the Flash 2s and ran in those for uptempo days, and several long runs. So I gave myself plenty of time to get used to the geometry style of the WRP2. Took a while to learn how to use the shoe. Had about 250km on flash 2 and 100km on the pro 2 going into race day.
      Once you find the sweet spot on these shoes they're really great. They do best on flat predictable roads though. Running on cracked pathways, steep hills, tight turns could get a little sketchy. Consider your course

    This was a cool test, but I'd like to see if you and Jess are willing to do the same test, using a "Daily Trainer" of your choice from each of the manufacturers you ran in for this test? It would be nice just to have a comparison of how much faster these "Supershoes" are than the Daily Trainers most of us run in on a regular basis? Not exciting I know, but it would be cool. (P.S. this might bring back the viewer who tunes into the podcast for the science)😁

      Having them go all out in a NB 1080v13 is gonna feel like mush😅 I tried them a few months ago, super enjoyable to run slow in but I couldn't get up to pace for the life of me.
      The NB Rebel V4 on the other hand was something else. I could see myself using it as a daily trainer, but technically it's a dynamic/race shoe. Still soft but once up to speed I easily kept going
      (Shoes were tested at a testing event, so I don't actually own any of them)

      Great video. Thanks for the efforts. I had the V3 version of New Balance Shoe and it cut me below both ankles. I noticed that a number of people had the same problem and resolved it by cutting the shoe where it dug in. This was not ideal for an expensive shoe but it solved the issue and I ran a 10km course PB when I next used them.
      It will be interesting to see if the V4 version is better on that issue.

The feel the closest to the Alphafly 1 that I have been racing in with the bounciness of the midsole. Owning the Fast-R 1, I have no interest in the second version. I can't handle those for more than 5K so I put speed laces in them and made them my duathlon shoes (where I never run more than 5K at a time). • @Ray.J
      @Ray.J Před 16 dny

      @@runningchannel Simply this. Shoppers continue to chase the latest and greatest footwear when maybe they should focus more on actually training. When I began running, Nike’s waffle soles were all the rage. Shoes arguably sucked then. What were performance shoes then are now nostalgic lifestyle shoes nobody would be caught dead actually running in.
      And then there’s the bandwagon phenomena, where a company introduces some new products and the other brands climb aboard. Hoka came out and I purchased the first generation of Clifton’s. My running buddies laughed and called them clown shoes. Most are now wearing Hokas themselves and many brand’s offerings feature Hoka-like stacks and cushion. No laughter now.
      I recently watched a video where a pro golfer shot par with a set of clubs bought at a department store. I’d bet he could break par with them once he learned more about their capabilities. I think there’s a bit of comparison there when it comes to running. But people will continue to chase the holy grail shoe and companies will gladly reap the benefits.
      I’m a fan of innovation, evidenced by my early experience with Hoka. Not against progress, not at all. Just find it funny that shoes are now hovering close to 200 USD and rising. I buy them a year or two later for less than half that and am quite happy.
      Wear something comfortable and get out and run.

    So many salty Nike fanboys in the comments 😂😂. Nevermind that Nikes over all running line up is lackluster and is totally smoked by New Balance, Asics, and Saucony.
    And other companies are making good super shoes too. Case in point.....all four featured in this video.
    Sorry fanboys......but just salpping a Nike logo on something does not make it the best. You guys really need to stop treating brands like religions.

      Asics has the best line up this year. Saucony had the best line up last year. New Balance is way in the back still. But yeah NIke overrated at this point imo.
