    Dude, I went out for my first session the other day. In the earlier part of the session, I forgot your words of wisdom and got broke off a few times (nothing major). Your checklist popped into my head, and I started actually getting some flights. I'm headed back out on Monday. Thanks for taking some bumps and bruises to come to this wisdom. I feel like your videos are saving me a lot of time and ice packs.

      If I am not falling hard enough to come up spitting salt water, I am probably not trying hard enough. Falling is how I got better at getting up on foil quickly. On a different , note, I am working on getting enough footage for a follow up to this video. I am discovering transition pumping works as well on the waves as it does on skate ramps. More power to the pump and less work in the waves. 🤙

      @@foilfanatic Hey, I have a question. How do you set up your remote for the Foil Drive? Do you use the app to customize your settings? Or did you just get really sensitive with your throttle finger so that you can hold it around the percentage that you want?

      @simoncfly Před 19 dny

      @@ericivy9979 Use the App to learn and progress. You also need to get good with your throttle finger. Don't let off when standing up, go faster to Ollieup. It all takes awhile.

    Thanks to Nick Obea for teaching me most of what I know about pumping. This is my attempt to pass on some of that success to a larger audience. I don't know if I stressed it enough in the video, but starting out on a larger pump and glide specific foil will shorten the journey to success.

      What board would you recommend to start with? I weigh 183 lbs, longtime surfer and standup paddler, beginner wing foiler who only recently went from taxi to foil flight. Have never done prone nor pump foiling. I appreciate and value your videos.

      @@ernestdeguzman7249 I am right there with you at 183 to 190ish, depending on the week. I am glad you brought this up. The 30L Pump is a bit small. I think the 44L Pump or one of the new Axis/Foil Drive collab boards are a good point to start with for our weight. A flat bottom, mid length board 4 foot 10 to about 5 foot 4 by around 19 to 22 inches wide and 44 to 60L is a good starting point for getting out of the water quickly but still having a low enough swing weight to not be difficult. The 30L is excessively small and a bit dangerous with a prop that close to your knees. I do not recommend that.....it is fun though.

    Stance, a tighter stance will make pumping easier. Aim for about shoulder width. I am limited by the tightest stance I could get from the foot strap positions, but if you do not use straps, experiment with a bit tighter stance for endurance pumping.

    how does your weight factor in? 210lb guy here

    • @foilfanatic
      @foilfanatic  Před měsícem +1

      I started wing foiling at 226lbs a few years back. More weight makes things a bit tougher, but not impossible. Wearing a backpack filled with 20 lbs of batteries, I am quite sure I could get on foil and pump with my 44L and a 1201, but man would it be more difficult.

    What power settings do u recommend for axis 1300 90kg rider? Medium power and no boost? Where should I start?

    • @simoncfly
      @simoncfly Před 19 dny

      I have the Axis PNG1300 and use high but I think all the settings wiould work with the 1300. To start on my Foil Drive I used a smaller PNG 910 (and another riders 1010) which are easier to ride as ithey go faster and turn easily. Now with the 1300 I'm getting better at getting up and pumping every session. Still a long way to go but this 1300 is popular with Downwinders starting out.

    • @foilfanatic
      @foilfanatic  Před 7 dny

      I used the 1300 with full power settings and carefully let off the trigger when it started to come out of the water. You can dial it back in the settings if it is too much at first.
