Merry Christmas & HNY 2024 🎉. I tried taking a 3D scan to compare L. App and KIRI Engine. The resolution of KIRI Engine is much more detailed. Unfortunately, my smartphone still doesn't support LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging)
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too! Haha thank you so much for the comment :) I'm glad to hear that. Yeah, I wish more smartphones would have LiDAR. But without LiDAR it's actually not that bad, you know. If you compare the LiDAR 3D model result with Photommetry or NSR, you will be disappointed with LiDAR, it's just by nature it doesn't come close to other scanning techniques

We love you here. But one thing please please please, when the result completely failed, don't erase all the photos and let us give an other try. So many scans in the streets and randomly sometimes the result is completely failed. Really frustrating to lost everything. Something we just can't go back to a place to redo the scan.
Hey thank you so much TheTchaume! And actually, you can still use the photos and even save the photos to your local album even if the project fails. You know when you are uploading the photoset to the cloud, there is a button beside the photoset preview section called 'Store Raw Data', if you turn that on then you get to reuse the photos by pressing on the three dots beside the project in the model list. Like your approach, considering your models quality - your prices are appropriate even for Ukraine. I mostly using your app for quick measuring of real estate, and found out some scale inconsistent on iphone 15 pro, like real room width is 3.72m, and your app model have 3.85(i am suing lidar scene scan, because more precision than room scan), but with other app I use, it is only 1-2cm larger than real. Do you have plan to have permanent adjustment option for all scans? Or I just doing something wrong?😅
Good luck selling premium when simpler objects won’t scan or process correctly.

I am trying to scan a small 3 inch piece of jewelry in a demo version doing my best effort on the pics still some parts are missing do you think the whole version can accomplish the scan of this piece
Hi there! Thanks for the question :) Actually, a small jewelry would be very hard to scan even for KIRI Engine, I'm afraid it's too extreme even for the paid version. The only way you can get great results when scanning a jewelry is to apply a special coating spray on its surface to make it not that reflective.

3dgs only exports as a .ply & my sculpting software, Nomad Sculpt for Android, doesn't support that. I've tried converting, using free online file converters but it gets corrupted.
Any advice?
I Love Kiri when I need it, but this is only the 2nd time I've used the paid for version since last April.
Hey again! esoteric :) First of everything else, thank you so much for being a supportive Pro user!! And back to your question, 3DGS is a completely different 3D representation from the mesh representation that we use traditionally, although some software claims they can convert 3DGS files into 3D mesh, they just won't work great because, after all, they are two different species.
So I hate to say this, but really, at this moment there is no working way that allows you to work on 3DGS models with Nomad Sculpt or any other sculpting software because they are designed for Mesh 3D models.
But this is where everything gets exciting! Although the traditional pipeline relied heavily on 3D mesh in the past, the 3D mesh does have its own problems, and we are believers that the 3DGS could perform better in some way. So expecting a 3DGS version of Nomad and a 3DGS version of Unreal Engine to emerge in the near future, once they are out, the 3D industry will never be the same again. Can you give tutorial on how to scan a person.I think it's quite harder when compared to scanning an object.

I jumped head first into your premium plan and love it so far. My biggest problem is i cant figure out for the life of me how to turn a 3DGS scan into a 3d object that i can use as FBX etc. ive drained hours into it using the blender gaussian splatter plugin but cant figure it out and theres just not enough info out there. ITS REALLY IMPRESSIVE THO. Its like you guys are so good, nobody knows how to use it yet 😂
To clarify I've been able to import and view them with the plugin in blender and they're real impressive, I just can't turn them into a solid object.
Hey! This is a great comment, thanks for bringing it up! 3DGS is a very new technology to the world, unfortunately, there aren't so many works published to convert 3DGS to mesh, the best research paper at this moment is called SuGaR, but it is still far from being usable...
However, we think 3DGS differently. I mean if we can provide an entire 3D development pipeline for 3DGS so that you can work with 3DGS just like you'd work with meshed models, such as re-lighting, LOD, rigging, texturing, etc. There is really not much point in converting 3DGS to mesh. And that's actually where we are heading toward :)

I dont know where to report bugs but, i realy need they fix the 3d scanner app NOW!!
Please i beg you, when i try extend the scan, it doesnt get the right position so its all bad:( also it crashesh so many times when the file is too high. Please fix it 😭

I tried 3 scans and all the results are useless. Now I think I need to pay to keep trying... I will try borrowing an iPad and use it with LiDAR and I could cover the fairly smooth object with masking tape to give it some texture.
Hi there, thanks for commenting :) The paid version will unlock more scanning algorithms but doesn't matter if you use the free version or the paid version the photo scanning you tried is with the same algorithm :) If this is your first time doing photogrammetry, it can have a learning curve. You can start with something easy such as a stone or a wood-made object
