Aha!! Great to be sawing again! I've said it before - it was the sawing that initially got me to your channel! One day, when I grow up... I also want a Woodland HM130, that's for sure!!
Happy weekend you all up there!
Thank you my friend, I hope you are all well.
Simon your sawmill shed and small workshop make a very fine man cave. I can understand how it's good for the heart, mind and soul to spend time there whether you're cutting or contemplating over coffee. A peaceful, content place I would be pleased to have.
Thank you Matthew, I very much enjoy working from there and do also contemplate often. Have a great weekend.
love your videos..........reminds me of America 30 years ago
Weird I was there then, I wonder if subconsciously I bring the 90's US vibe to the videos. that would be strange.
A 6 hr day is more than enough for anyone when you talk about working with timber... heavy work... Here we almost have to go continuously with the freakin' lawnmower.. since Constitution Day we've had som real summer temps, and paired with a few rain showers everything green pretty much grows like crazy😱 Hope everything is well with you guys, all the best and take care😎
That is the other thing I have to do, with 24hrs of sun now it is mad season! I must admit I am losing control already. Take care and thankyou.
Thanks Simon. Mill running good. It is almost a full time job keeping up with grass and weed cutting.
Yes Mark it is almost a full time job. Imagine if all those hours were paid for I could afford to pay someone to go fishing for me! LOL soon be time for the boat. Have a great weekend.
The Birch have beautiful markings indeed Simon. Would make anything look delightful. Natures own in the making. Warmest of wishes to you all and big hugs to Kasper. ❤🇦🇺🇸🇪
Many thanks Anne, I have always been amazed by the grain inside the tree's and been fortunate enough to use it to please many customers and myself in joinery and furniture.
@@arctic-rebel oh my Simon! And what you have produced an shared in the making of has been incredible! Art at its finest! ❤️🇦🇺🇸🇪
Ah a good feeling to get back to milling!

Tack Petter.
That is really nice, Burch wood. Wish I had it here. I only have oak, pine and maple, and walnut. Good job, Simon !
It is true it has nice grain, but it is hard to stabilize. Thanks, have a great weekend.
Thanks for sharing Simon !
My pleasure, thanks for your time.
Howdy Simon- it’s good to see you sawing again. I felt quite kin to you watching the video since I had the opportunity to use my sawmill today sizing up some oak for a covered bridge build. I wish there was a way to get some of this oak to you. Eighteen feet 7”x12” I realize it would be cost prohibitive to ship it to you. Hope the weekend is going well for you. God bless you and Ms Sarah
Hi Paul, I would rather just return and cut it there and have some decent sized tree's t fell. I miss the crash of the really big ones. I hope you going to film the bridge job, I have driven really slowly through some of your covered bridges and always wanted to build one. Many are absolute works of art so I know you will do any bridge justice. Take care my friend. God bless you all.
Thanks Simon 👍
Have a great weekend.
Nice installations
Thanks 👍
Very interesting video Simon, I have always just gone to the local Timber supplier and picked up a 4inch by 2inch by 2.4 metres long and never gave a thought about where it came from or how it was cut . You will see from my above comment I still have a mixture of Imperial and Metric sizes 😂😂. By the way a 6hr day doing that would be enough for me. Keep the videos coming
Hi John, the old imperial/metric issue. I can and have worked in both all my life as have anyone 50 or older. Funny story, there is a church in a small village no far from me which looks like a cathedral, designed and draw in imperial and built in metric! Thanks, have a great week.
Seems to be a great rig you got! Intresting to know Why you picked this brand. Did you consider other brands like Woodmizer, Logosol etc? I saw some of them at the last Elmia show and they all look great, but pricey😵💫 they all had two, three really skilled guys working them so it looked real easy with awesome result🤠
Easy question to answer, the video about why and what got me a lot of early subscriber that still watch me today. 3 of those that I know of went on to but a woodland mills band saw. I should do an update video on the same subject but here is the link to the one I have done. czcams.com/video/KOPx0Cdu_ZA/video.html
Hi Simon and family.when you look at a log what side do you start sawing first or is it crown side up thks ❤😊
Great question, depends on what you see. A perfect log makes no difference in fact it will tell you as it rolls onto the table. If it is not straight then best side to the dogs or stops because you have no control over blade with on the back side of the saw. If it is really bad some times I cut opposite sides first then roll it and cut the 90's.
Have you considered building an auto feed on your saw mill aswell as an up & down.
You can buy a kit or knowing your skills make it yourself using an electric window motor or a windscreen wiper motor and a bicycle chain or metal cable which I know you know but was just wondering or do you prefer manually pushing it yourself..
I have had powered everything in the day, but thing are different now and to be honest I can feel what is happening manually pushing the saw and it is not hard I go slow for a better cut. Have agreat weekend and thanks.
