  • Just another day dealing with the aftermath of an Arctic winter. Is there a burst pipe underground or do we have an issue in the well?

      I never said anything about fun Brad, you must have misunderstood me. You are correct of course although I would go as far as to say -40 and water generally.

    Hi Simon, when I see all this problems I am so happy that i have public water from a big lake in the forest and not a well. Take care, greetings from your neighbour country Norway. Hilsen QAsle

      Hi Hilsen, I am also on public water from the river but we have had many burst pipe this winter which and the old 1950's iron pipes. These are deep and still have to be dug up and changed. Have a great weekend.

      @@arctic-rebel hi Simon and thank you for the reply. Yes when the water pipes are getting old, they rot away. I also had to dig up and replace my water pipe some few years ago. My house is built in the 40's. It cost me alot, almost 40 000 Norwegian kroner, (4000$), since I had to have a company to do it. Have a nice wekend you too. Best wishes from Asle

    The pipe equivalent to the needle in the haystack..finding a leak in underground waterpipes is no walk in the park.. I'd guess a new pipe, a 90° bend and a new foot valve in the well would solve the problem... me thinks🤔 Then again.. there will be some digging to be done and that's no easy peasy job. But I'm confident that the "Simonuity" will prevail once again👍👍 Have a great weekend my friend, all the best to the family and the furry favourite🐕

      They do have a meter to find moisture, we’ve used them to find leaks in roofs. But I wouldn’t think that’s an option.

      @arctic-rebel  Před 27 dny

      Thank you, I will start with the well and go from there. If that fails we can all guess where the leak will be!

    Good job. I think your village needs a mini digger on your fleet. 🙂👍

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  Před 27 dny +1

      Thank you, a mini digger will not reach deep enough for the main pipes. We have had a huge machine here for a week fixing the main water lines, many of which burst over winter. The main village has iron pipes form the 50's and they are a long way down.

      I thought I was done with ground work 20 years ago, but no still at it. I don't know anything about gold and where you are, but I do know I have never seen gold like I have here. We have even found a rough diamond in a river many years ago.

    HellsBells, Simon……what have you landed yourself good self this time! I thought the underbelly of the last house and well was bad enough, but this is a six foot vertical dig….it’s going to be interesting what the owner decides. Oh! Do some gold digging while you at it…..may come in handy in the not too distant future 😊😊. Warmest love to you all.❤️🇦🇺🇸🇪

    Howdy Simon- you can surely get yourself in some tricky stuff to figure out. Here in the states a plumber would probably just dig a new ditch line and replace everything but you are dealing with customers who may not have the finances to do that so you do your magic and figure out how to do something that will fit their budget. You amaze me with your skills at trouble shooting and repairs. God bless you my friend

      Thanks, did that and heard nothing and no bubbles in the well, confused and interesting at the same time. This leads me to believe any split is between the house and the well.

    Is it possible to slide another pipe through the existing pipe or is that just a pipe dream. That well has been a thorn in your back side, I remember when you did all that work last year and I remember you are on a tight budget. Good luck and may you find the problem,Godspeed.

      @arctic-rebel  Před 27 dny

      I wish, the internal bore is 25mm, just not enough to be able to act as a sleeve otherwise it would be an easy fix. It may still be depending on what I find in the well. Thank you, have a great weekend.

  • @JustFixIt99
    @JustFixIt99 Před 27 dny +2

    I wonder if it's a combination of a bad foot valve and a hump in the line. That would explain why you can't prime it and why it only takes ~2L at a time. Although, as I'm sure you've noticed in life as well, that thing you really don't want to do, in this case digging up the entire line, is probably the only solution. Well, other than telling them to buy a bucket and a rope for the well :)

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  Před 27 dny +1

      I was thinking long the same lines as you, the pipe rising can never be good for back filling it initially. I have to deal with the foot valve first and that will just leave the pipe.

    Did you plug the other end where you come out from under the floor? I would dig up where it comes out from under and plug it. That way you would be certain. I’m not getting your explanation, maybe it’s just me. Watching from Panama City Florida,USA. 🇺🇸🦅 If you hit gold, the Hell with the leak. Just cut it and plug it before it goes out, then test it.
