    Thank you for the video. I have a red Toyota Tundra and went with the black anodized finish with full barn doors. When I get my built out I will send so videos. Thanks again.

    Thanks to your past video I put a SoftTopper on my PW as well. I've had it for 2 years and it's been perfect for my camping trips. I can easily take it off when I need the truck bed.

      The SoftTopper was excellent and we enjoyed it for several years. We are hoping to do some longer distance trips in the (hopefully) not too distant future so this is the really the first step toward those plans.

    Thanks for the great video. I am about to travel to Flagstaff to visit Ovrlnd Campers for an in person look see. As of right now, thanks to your video I am pretty sure this popup would be perfect for me. I also live in central coast California. I'll keep an eye out for your rig.

      Thanks for watching and commenting! So far we're pleased with our Ovrlnd Camper, though honestly we have not camped as much as we would have liked, real life getting in the way. We recently fitted a dual swing bumper from Chassis Unlimited to our truck, replacing the RIGd hitch mounted tire swing. I am in the process of editing hours of video down to a reasonable CZcams length video, that'll hopefully be done in the next few weeks. Have a good trip to Flagstaff, it is definitely interesting to see the production line - I think just about everything is done in house, cutting and stitching seams in the poptop tent, bending metal, etc, etc.

    Great walk through and information. Can you please post an update on the pros and cons of the Ovrland topper and anything you would change? Also, why did you go with this topper? Thank you!

      Thanks for watching and commenting! We just returned from the latest camping trip and just started editing footage. Will try to include comments on what worked w/the topper, etc. In short, there is very little I would change!

    Awesome video. Do you think it would be okay to put a couple 100w solar panels on top?

    • @fourwheeltravel
      @fourwheeltravel  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting! Yes, this is prewired for solar and I plan on putting one or more panels on the roof. I will definitely update the channel when that occurs, a couple other things in the works first though.

    Soft-toppers are great ... while you save your money for a real topper. They are like place-savers.

  • @charlesscorpiniti5827

    What part of the central coast do you call home? I'm in Monterey County. This camper is on my short list of campers that I'm considering.

  • @scottstringer4

    How are you liking your ovrlnd camper so far? I feel like you’re the perfect person to talk to, as I’m currently debating between a softopper and an Ovrlnd. I like the openness and visibility I’d get from the softopper (when folded forward), but I’d love the ability to stand up inside the camper that I’d get from the pop up. Having had the Ovrlnd for a bit now, how do you feel it compares to the softopper overall? Thanks!

    • @fourwheeltravel
      @fourwheeltravel  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for the comment! The OVRLND camper is still new for us and so we don't have a lot of experience with it in the field yet. Being able to stand up is a game changer though, as is not having to squeeze between the wheel wells when sleeping when camping. That said, the Softopper was a really great option for us for about 4 years and we think it looked great on the truck. We have some longer distance camping trips in mind and that really was the main motivation for upgrading our setup. We will post more videos here as we get to grips with the OVRLND camper and get it setup.

    • @scottstringer4
      @scottstringer4 Před rokem

      @@fourwheeltravel Nice! Thank you for the info. Do you keep the OVRLND on your truck constantly? If so, do you ever feel like it’s too bulky for a daily driver? I’m coming from a FWC Hawk slide-in, which was great as a camper, but was way too big and bulky to keep in my truck all the time. I am thinking the OVRLND might not be too bad to keep in the truck 24/7. I’d still retain the use of the truck bed. However, if I’m being honest with myself, I’m not camping and traveling as much as I used to, and I’m thinking maybe the softopper would give me the sleeping setup I’m looking for, while also being very low profile during the week. Thanks for your videos. Would love to hear any other feedback you have regarding softopper vs OVRLND!

    • @fourwheeltravel
      @fourwheeltravel  Před rokem

      Right, those slide-ins are nice and I've looked at the Hawk models, but they weight a lot more. I think the OVRLND Campers are < 300 lbs. I'll be putting up the Softopper for sale soon, and it is in really good shape after ~4 years out in the elements.

    What material do they make the bed platform out of? Is it like a starboard material? how thick is it?

    • @fourwheeltravel
      @fourwheeltravel  Před rokem +1

      From the campovrlnd.com site
      “Honeycomb composite material is a game changer! Lighter, stronger, and has the added benefit of keeping you warmer! Load tested for 500lbs and wide enough for the family!
      Two sheets. There is one fixed platform and one platform that extends to create the full 80" long bed.”
      IDK specific material or thickness but will go look at the sliding part and report back.

      RIght, OK on the thickness I did not go measure that yet but next chance I get I will take out the micrometer and see how thick that material is.
